There's still 7 years remaining on the lease. The sense of urgency is artificial. There were way too many things in the current proposal without a lick of legal detail. There was no community benefits agreement made, which is what would have given the actual community tangible benefits instead of just future promises with no detailed path to make it work. The teams aren't simply going to throw their hands up and move away. Missouri also just voted to eliminate corporate income tax as well, which is more incentive for them to stay in MO.

Oklahoma City Chiefs (or new name)
They’ll give Clark his money and it’s only a 20 minute flight to Dallas. |

The Kansas Chiefs?
|
What an embarrassment this is for Kansas City. Sad, sad day for KC and the region as a whole.

or it could be the Omaha Chiefs... At least that would bring back winning football to Nebraska.

San Antonio Chiefs
Nashville Royals |
Royals could have also helped this vote by NOT BEING SHIT FOR DECADES AT A TIME

That decisive of a margin doesn't at all suggest it would have passed if it weren't for the whole Crossroads thing.
The Royals aren't getting Jackson County money. The Chiefs might if they split themselves off.. |

Just want to make sure. |
Chiefs deliver a dynasty and we tell them to **** off. City is the laughing stock of the league for this.

This vote makes it very clear that Kansas City does not want the Royals or the Chiefs around. Won't be surprised if Sherman especially starts talking to other cities very shortly. |

If the chiefs don’t have the royals anchor they can get what they want. I said it from the beginning this vote was going to be a reflection of how the county feels about the royals and Sherman’s “plan”
And it was |
Chiefs don't want to be at the Sports Complex anyways. They are licking their chops at Kansas. Royals listened too many people. Same clowns bitched at East Village then praised it when they moved to the better spot in the Crossroads. Then bitched about the Crossroads when its the right spot for it. North KC will probably jump on them if not Salt Lake City will. They got the ownership group with deep pockets and stadium plan.
|
Damn. I sure hope they don’t seriously consider out by Legends.
|
Chiefs can go to Kansas and the Royals can go to hell
No more complaining about the industrial park out in the middle of nowhere |
The Royals downtown might be dead but this thing didn't pass anywhere in Jackson County and likely wouldn't pass in Clay County. My guess is either the city somehow pays for it, or private funding with some help from the state, or a vote in Kansas
|
Propose the same tax but give 100% of the money to the Chiefs
that shit would pass immediately Royals ****ed this up, it is completely on them |

He’ll likely use places like OKC or San Antonio as leverage |
I am honestly shocked at the number of people who don’t want downtown baseball.
|
The Royals went YOLO and the Chiefs plans looked like Matt Cassel drew them up
The whole thing has been bizarre |

But the more I think about it, yeah, the Royals are toast. |
This thing got destroyed didn't win a single precinct in KC if I'm reading this right

Chiefs HAVE to distance themselves from the losers if they are serious about staying at Arrowhead. You don’t even want the royals Twitter account going to bat for you if you’re Clark. They’re poison.
|
Guess I should make my first visit to Arrowhead soonish.
|
Let’s look on the bright side. We get Mahomes for the majority of his career and all of his prime. Once he retires, wellll…..look at the Patriots. Oklahoma City or whatever can have that. Once the Chiefs are good again by 2090, we’ll all be dead anyway.

Let them iron out the proposal and see how this goes next year.
|
There will be another report next year about them doing deep deep scans at Arrowhead and finding concrete cancer just like the K.

It's pretty obvious the Royals, and their owner, totally ****ed this up at nearly every step of the process.

The only other play for the Chiefs may be for the Royals to get a deal elsewhere and the Chiefs would get it passed and get all the funds... It will be interesting.

We lose the Royals now thx alot

Assuming a spot by the speedway would be idea? I know no one wants to even think about a new stadium, but it’s happening |

You lose enough and then threaten to leave and a lot of folks lose interest real quick |

Going to have to fly Allegiant to Tulsa to chin check foos at the FWS now
|
So basically Chiefs stay in Kansas City and Royals are out?
Somebody fill me in please. |
