ROFL
It has to be racist! After all, it was Clark (and I'm a Hawkeye fan) that first threw that shade at SC. Anybody that is following this and is reasonable at all understands what happened and WHY it happened. It's a complete nothing-burger - players trash talk all the time. I had to remind Chiefs fans on FB that even Mahomes talks trash like that - remember the 4 finger deal? Clark started it (and I still think she's awesome) and LSU responded in kind. This is big time sports and they're going to act like big time players. |
Female athletes showing this kind of emotion and trash talking is what it will take to get more eyes on their sports.
If you think this is a race issue then you are part of the problem. |
Good for these girls. This might be the height of women's college sports as we're just a few years away from trannies coming in and dunking on all of them. Poor girls gonna get posterized with tranny balls to the face.

Seems like the conclusion im drawing here is that Clark does for women's basketball what Jake Paul does for boxing.

If Mahomes wasn't a Chief...you'd have half of the people in this thread pissed at him because he needs to "shut up and just play football".
|
Sorry, but nothing Mahomes has done in the field of trash talk compares. Maybe if after the Super Bowl he ran up to Jalen Hurts and shoved his ring finger in Jalen's face. But he didn't, because that would be classless.

Ultimately, I don't have a problem with the taunting stuff, but it was definitely a step above a lot of the comparisons people are making here. |
The best comparison for what happened in this situation was what Antoine Winfield did to Tyreek.
|
ESPN just released an article saying it is a race issue.

I bet she could take Floyd Mayweather in a fight.

But the Bengals opened that door by saying Burrowhead. So I didn't care if he celebrated. But following a player around the court is just bizarre behavior. |

Reese did it with 10 seconds left. I have no problem with it but get why people would be annoyed given the timing. Winners get to write the rules, though. |

I'm talking about the act. Who gives a **** how much time was left in the game? |
400+ posts on women's college basketball?
CP is softening. |

Is there a video clip that shows Caitlin in the face 'taunting' an opponent AFTER Iowa wins a game ?

Wasn't this Angel chick the one bitching about Iowa not respecting SC? Yeah...that's all just a random gripe and nothing about race......

I don't think this was as bad, but it was definitely borderline. |

I don't give a shit that she did it or not. She won. She didn't hurt anyone. Quote:
I don't care about athletes being classy or not. I care if they win, are not convicts or total pieces of shit (e.g., using slurs) towards others. It's fine if an athlete is like Mahomes. It's OK if they're like Deion Sanders, too, as long their play backs up what they say. |
Yeah it's totally a race issue and not because of how long the LSU player did it for...

LSU won by enough points that they deserve credit for the win. People saw what they saw and are entitled to have beliefs about how the LSU carried itself on the floor. |
I'm hoping she marries into the Hunt family now so her full name can be Caitlin Clark Hunt

It is absolutely bizarre to me that anybody would be bitching this hard about some girl trash talking a trash talker after winning a championship. Society has gone soft.

Meh, it's sports. And even further than that, it's hoops.
I couldn't give any less of a **** about trash talking on the court. Sports need a little drama. Especially for a sport that gets zero attention, ever. |

I also think it's stupid that the WNBA until recently fined teams for chartering private flights. I don't give a shit if anyone watches the WNBA or not. You or anyone else has the choice not to. But bitching about how people spend their own private money on a league that no one forces anyone to watch is stupid. |

Anyone point out that it was kindof a bitchmade move to wait until after the game was decided to start throwing shade? I suspect someone has.
Because it was. I don't suspect they were talking trash when she was about to shoot them back into that thing. Then again - this is essentially mid-tier boys HS basketball so WTF do I care? |

Have you size the prize pool for the women's world cup vs. the men's? The size of the slice in question barely matters when the difference in the size of the pie is as extreme as it. Women don't even watch women's sports - it's a non-starter of an 'argument'. |
Quote:
IT'S BULLSHIT! And folks, women's basketball/soccer aren't that much less further removed from the men's product than curling is to football. They're barely the same sport. |
I didn't have this thread on my Offseason Bingo card....... Its actually pretty good now
|
The mens world cup brought in 6 billion dollars. The womens world cup brought in 131 million. Tell me, who should be paid more?
|
Quote:
Quote:
Not saying it should be 1 to 1, but the difference shouldn't be that dramatic. |
Quote:
They have a better argument but it’s not that compelling. Their superstars like Alex Morgan are doing more than fine with all the sponsorship $ they’re raking in. For the wnba it’s not even a conversation. |
Quote:
The men's team generated the most money. They deserved to be paid more. The women's team wanted more money despite not financially earning it. |
Quote:
I never said men shouldn’t have been paid more. Just that women’s national team was underpaid based on the standards used for compensating men. Not remotely the same discussion as WNBA. |
Quote:
****ing insanity. |
Quote:
|
Quote:
Even so, the men generate more money. They should be compensated at a higher rate. |

I was answering the notion that Caitlin could save the WNBA. Ain't happening. Then you got all uppity and women's lib on us. |
Quote:
Just that the women should be getting more for going further and winning. |

Women's world generated about $160 million. Tell me how you're going to iron out that disparity in raw dollars? Give the last place team in the men's bracket 1% of the winnings and you're talking $75 million to split between it's players. You'd have to give the first place team 50% of the overall pool in the women's bracket to beat that. So how the hell are you gonna touch that? The numbers simply don't work. I mean kick the numbers around and you're talking a proportional WIN by, what, 3-4 times greater revenue share for the women than the men? And if you want to talk strict merit, take the worst team in the men's world cup and have them play the USWNT - they'd beat them by double digits. Men's soccer yields about 4000% more revenue than women's soccer - yes, the differences should absolutely be as dramatic as they are. Truth be told, they should probably be even more extreme. |
Quote:
Not even close. They were overpaid if you use the standards for compensating men. 25% of the overall revenue generated by the Women's world cup went into the prize pool. About 6% of the revenue generated by the mens did. This isn't a makeable argument. Never has been. |
Quote:
He seems decent at soccer but is definitely not a pro and isn't even remotely close to giving it everything hes got and he's just embarrassing her. Exhibit A for why no one watches female sports outside of shit like tennis. |

If they played the USMNT and both teams played their best possible game it would be double digits by half. The woman tend to have better technical skills but the lack of speed, size and strength is no match. |

WNBA will be all "men" in like 5 years anyways........

So the men should be subsidizing the women. Why are we talking about fairness then? This isn't fairness - it's simple redistribution. And again - the mens curling team 'represents the country' - should the Olympic basketball teams be subsidizing their prize pool? |

Quote:
You've got Michael Bradley out there running 9 miles per match. A similar woman's player is gonna run about 6. The guys can just cover ground for longer. And as you noted, because of the speed mismatch, the guys would be able to do more like 10-12 miles at 80% pace while the women are looking at 4-5 trying to go at top speed. Again - it's barely the same sport. |
