Braun throws another one away, strong stuff
|
Remy Martin is closing this out. He’s gonna wear them out with these late drives.
|
There's way too much guard talent on this team now to ever just endlessly throw the ball to McCormack ever again.
|
One critique. We have to be better about getting back on defense. Without those easy buckets, this is a 25 point game.

McCormack with a nice block there.
|
Some Doogie Howser guy just fell to the ground and McCormack picked up another foul because of it.

When Wilson is back to replace Braun, we will have a really exciting starting lineup:
Martin Harris Ochai Wilson McCormack |
I love seeing the aggression, love to see them holding a lead and keeping their foot on the gas
|
Nice opening game, something to build on!
|
Easy win over a top 20ish team on a neutral court despite horrendous shot selection in the 1st half and way too much Braun. Agbaji is going to be a lot better this year, it seems. And Martin is exactly what this team needed.
KU is looking good. |
Holy shit. KU is deep as ****. DEEP.
There were some stretches of really ****ing good ball in there which is surprising for game 1. Ochai. Nuff said. Like the scoring, from everywhere. Players like Ochai, Braun, and Harris become much much better players when they're not counted on to make scores happen. I really liked the Adams minutes. Reminded me of freshman TRob minutes. If that dude can become anything in the same universe as TRob... **** I'm excited just thinking about it. We're pretty thin on size, but if we can actually score with 4 out, it's probably OK as long as we can find a way to defend competently. |
Remy with 15 and he didn't even take a shot in the 1st half. Lulz. He's a prime bucket getter.
|
Great first game!
|
KU woke up feeling dangerous.
|
Zach Clemence reminds me of kevin mchales. If he can just keep working on footwork and playing inside we going to have something special.

Giving up easy baskets like that lets teams hang around longer than they should. |

I really think DWIlson is gonna have a great year. Can’t wait to have him back.
|
UK appears to have remained bad with their new prospects.
|
3 more losses and KU will have the most wins all time as it should be.

When does that became a question of...... has Calipari lost his fastball? |
Cam Martin didn't see the floor... Wasn't he supposed to be a big get in the offseason?

The transfers looked fine. Quote:
They’ll be fine come March. For reference, Duke has made it twice since their last title in 2015 to the Elite 8 and has the same number of Final 4 appearances(0). |

I care about that, but not as much as titles. Time to bring home #9. |

Like, Michigan has the most regular season wins in college football but Alabama has the most titles. UCLA has the most titles in basketball, but has only 1 title the past 40 years. Only program(s) I’d consider trading Kentucky’s success for historically are maybe Kansas and UNC. Duke had some success prior to K, but not nearly the same level as the other blue bloods. |
I know I've said it before, but won't ever understand why people care about titles they weren't even alive to witness. They make for a nice walk through the arena's history section, I guess.... but, I've seen 3 Kansas NCs in my lifetime, UK's had three in that time, while Duke has like 4 and UNC has 4 or 5.
I certainly wouldn't trade UK's 3 titles for Kansas' 3 in my lifetime, which also comes with the NIT seasons and worse.... and titles in the 40s or something. I'll keep KU's Helms titles... they're just as meaningless and it's mildly entertaining when they're brought up and they trigger other fans. |

Maybe he found out he doesn't have a role on the team and is redshirting to keep eligibility to transfer again(?) |
Harris and Remy look like they were born to be on the same team. Their styles compliment each other extremely well.

We don’t play a team that’s currently ranked until we play Kentucky on January 29.
We should start off with a really impressive record. Schedule gets pretty crazy after that. The Big 12 could be REALLY too heavy this year. Only Kansas, Baylor, and Texas are ranked. |

The wine sucks and doesn't age well at all (and I'm no wine snob, but did accidentally aged the Royals 2015 Champions wine for like 5 years and it wasn't drinkable), but the bottles are totally worth it, of course... also have a Chiefs SB bottle, too, and they have many others. Actually got one with my car, which is how I learned about it.

They would probably have to win a championship every 3 months for that wine to be drinkable in that fashion. |

Braun not looking great so far
|
No minutes for Clemence so far tonight. Kinda weird.

Harris also with 6 assists. Ochai was sensational again. Remy Martin missed a bunch of shots, but did a great job getting to the line. |

Really enjoying this team so far this year.
|
Bill Self on KU’s first half perimeter defense:
“It was awful” lol accurate |
Why did Self even recruit Remy if he was gonna neuter him?
|
That euro step fake to the finger roll and-1 by Ochai was special. Dude is unreal this year.
|
Clemence is legit
|
Our bench would probably finish like 4th in the Big 12 this year

Self needs to play Clemence. Stop with this Mitch shit. Give the kid minutes or hes gonna transfer. I dont care if it makes us a tiny bit worse.

Despite his early season struggles, you gotta admit that Braun has played much better since then.

NBA teams are very reluctant to draft 4th year seniors high in drafts these days. He'll have to keep this up (which will be difficult, but doable as it looks like he has improved) if he wants to improve his position. Anything in the 1st round should be considered a huge success for him if it happens.
