The best analogy I can make is, I was a pretty misbehaving toddler/child, so around the holidays, I'd get in trouble and my punishment was I didn't get to watch the Rankin-Bass/Charlie Brown holiday specials. Then when I got to school, mom gave the TV to goodwill. But I share in my generation's nostalgia for those specials nonetheless. So yes, MRK's depiction of scouting bears no resemblance to mine, but it somehow still looks like one I would have enjoyed in that family/cultural situation. |

The Fighter was pretty good. American Psycho wasn't terrible. Was it supposed to be a comedy? Some of it was pretty damn funny. |
Too much hype surrounding American Hustle, it was boring and dry. Leo killed Bale for the best actor.

Crystal Fairy and the Magical Cactus was better than I thought it'd be. Best I've seen from Cera

Somebody please explain Memento for me. I just watched it and I'm like WTF just happened.
|
I've tried to watch Memento at least five times and can never get more than 10 minutes into it without losing interest..
|
Memento is great.

Basically his wife didn't believe he had the condition and tests him with the insulin injection and dies. (Shades of Inception). However Guy Pearce is convinced there is still a killer out there and eventually does track one down. But he ends up forgetting this as well and still is obsessed on finding the killer. Joey Pants basically takes advantage of his condition by leading him on. Pearce figures this out and tricks himself into thinking that Pants is the killer when he starts remembering again. That's a pretty rudimentary explanation.

Holy crap. "Killer Joe" is pretty ****ed up.
I'll never look at a chicken drumstick in quite the same way. |
Silver Lingings Playbook was pretty good. Bradley Cooper was awesome and I would marry Jennifer Lawrence. She's so ****ing hott. Funny movie.

The way she said it was sexy. |

She's talented. It seems effortless. Kinda like the female version of Jack Nicholson. |
It is kinda a bummer that Lawrence has wasted a bulk of her career so far on a lame horror movie and the hunger games trilogy.

Food, Inc. (I've heard mixed reaction based on your opinion about how food is made) Select 30 for 30's Hoop Dreams (oldie but a goodie) The Thin Blue Line (same... oldie but a classic) Bully (pretty well known documentary following the lives of kids who are bullied) Restrepo (war documentary) Dear Zachary (some like it, some think the creator has a bit of an agenda he's pushing) Best Worst Movie (documentary about the making of Troll 2, generally believed to be the worst movie ever made) Jiro Dreams of Sushi Undefeated (inspirational football movie) Some good ones not on Instant too. My favorite was "God Grew Tired of us." Really good documentary about the Lost Boys of Sudan |

More importantly, Christopher Nolan has a TON of easter eggs in here. For example... there is a really, really quick flash where Sammy Jankis is sitting in a chair and you see Guy Pearce sitting in the chair. Another where Guy Pearce has a tattoo very early on that shows he knew all along. Kind of fun to rewatch when you remember these subtle things. |

Killer Joe was pretty good.
Thomas Haden Church was hilarious. |
*sigh* a bulk of her career so far.

She won best actress for her role in Silver Linings playbook. Very good movie. American Hustle, best supporting actress nomination. Very good movie. You were saying?... |

Lawrence has done some shitty roles in addition to her awesomeness. that is all I am saying.

Anybody that actually watched American Hustle and thought Lawrence deserved shit for her role is delusional.
I get that she's the "it" girl and I like her well enough, but there was nothing about her performance that suggested it was Oscar worthy. |
Confession: I've never seen Jennifer Lawrence in anything, except X-Men. She seems wholly unremarkable.

I've only seen her in the first Hunger Games and Winter's Bone.

I wasn't a big fan of Silver Linings Playbook. But not sure how you can walk out of that movie and not think she was absolutely convincingly batshit crazy. Contrast that with Winter's Bone where she plays a really subdued character. Nice to see an up and coming actress with that kind of range. I think what I've liked about her so far is there are no gimmicks. It feels effortless. Maybe that's why her acting can seem too simple for some. |

She does seem very honest about herself. I want to hump her in real life, and think she'd be one of very few celebs that would be really fun to hang out with. I get that she puts a lot into her characters. I just thought that SLP and American Hustle were 2 of her weakest roles. |
To each his own Fish, but your assessment of her in SLP is ludicrous. She freakin won the Oscar, dude.

Enjoyable, yes. Groundbreaking or remarkable, no. The 2nd was better than the first. I haven't watched either of them since seeing them in the theater, and probably won't. |
Don Jon.
I don't understand what I was supposed to fake away from this movie. Heh.... It has a 81% rating on rotten tomatoes. That's why I don't really trust ratings on that site. Posted via Mobile Device |

Watched Enders Game. Not bad but had a lot of plot holes and nonsensical things.
Also finished Gravity. While its a good movie, its also overrated imo. If it wasn't for the fact that the visuals are eye porn, it wouldn't that good of a movie. Posted via Mobile Device |
