No. Also, its not just about throwing it deep yardage wise, its about having velocity and strength to get it there quicker and on a lower trajectory. Denver doesn't have burners at WR so he will have to throw perfect passes that get their quickly to get downfield completions. The longer the ball takes to get there, the easier it is for the secondary to adjust and break up the play.

He can still throw with velocity deep. Every report I have read has said all of his passes have zip.

And if you look at Manning's stats he has only thrown 8 balls that have traveled 40 yards or longer since 2007. That averages out to two a season. No. Big. Deal.

In Peyton's best year as a pro ( the one where he threw 49 TD's) he only threw 1 pass that traveled over 40 yards.

Garcia Bronco 07-31-2012 12:09 PM

Give it up Chiefs fans. He's good and he's on our team. Best of luck on the season. I hope we're all strong to produce the best come the post season.

I am just going by what he said. He doesn't seem to think he will return to form. He is still really good, but he doesn't seem to expect to be great, as in return to his best form. If he isn't great, Donks don't make the playoffs.

That's very knowmo of you to say that. The man is washed up. He's clinging to a "once was" career.

The man is toast. There's a reason they have talked of moving him to safety.

Not sure if this was already mentioned, but since Denver has started camp Manning has not thrown a deep ball. This was mentioned yesterday, they're thinking he's not ready to throw deep.

Only cause he's mastered the CB position and got bored of it!!! He even broke his neck in the offseason and got it repaired just like Manning. It made him 10 years younger!!!!/Uknowmo

KC QBs throwing at Champ: 7.8 YPA, 0 TDs, 3 passes defensed.

Tebow throwing at Flowers: 10.4 YPA, 1 TD, 0 passes defensed.

Precisely. They think that because they have Champ in the screen at home that it was man-on-man.

Do you know how wide the gap is between Peyton Manning and Tim Tebow?

Tebow was trying to learn how to be a QB while Peyton Manning has mastered it. Denver doesn't need luck. If we could win 8 games with Tebow there is no way we win fewer than 10 with Manning, and I'm expecting 12 to 13 wins.

The return of the 3 ACLmigos is drawing quite the buzz in league circles. Comments of loaded Chiefs team being the biggest reason folks are picking KC.

Personally, like usual it's San Diego's division if crybaby and Norf don't find a way to **** it up.

I expect KC to take the West though.

There's 1 surefire way that they won't make it to 10 wins..... I'll give you a hint, it ends with "out for the season after re-injuring his fragile neck, career over."

Besides... 12-13 wins is ridiculous. They have very few good players left on that team, and 0 elite ones unless you count Von Miller, but even he could only play a partial season healthy.

I'm thinking maybe 8 wins at the max.

His neck isn't fragile though. You guys keep saying it but it's totally untrue. His neck was healed and ready for professional football last fall. The doctors that did the surgery on the disc in his neck cleared him to play last season.

The reason he missed the entire season was because he lost arm strength and it took time for the nerves to regenerate. There was a time last November where Manning could barely throw a ball across the room, by the time March came around he could throw it 40+ yards.

If Manning were to get hurt it would most likely be a knee injury or a broken bone or something. His neck is at no greater risk to injury than Cassel's.

The doctors cleared him, eh? They also clear a lot of guys who get concussions. And guess what, it happens again... And those injuries get worse and worse. Manning is on borrowed time right now.

Sure he "might" be able to throw it 40 yards but he certainly can't do it accurately. Besides, your wr's would just drop it anyways. I'm still not sure Thomas has caught a ball other than the one against Pittsburgh.

He certainly can. And he certainly has. He completes at least one deep ball every practice with pinpoint accuracy.

From Cecil Lammey...
Quote:

Executed a picture perfect play action pass to Eric Decker. Pass sailed about 45-yards and split two defenders for the TD. Manning’s window was less than the size of a basketball hoop but he put it right in Decker’s hands, splitting Tracy Porter and Quinton Carter. Plenty of zip on his passes to Demaryius Thomas all over the field. Fantastic day from Manning, Thomas, and Decker.

Omg. So a guy most likely getting paid to write good things about Manning posted something (which I'm sure he added yards to) about Manning throwing a single deep ball (with no pressure) and you think he's back?

And pinpoint accuracy is bullshit. You know Decker had to run like a son of a bitch just to get back in time to catch it.

Bowser 08-01-2012 09:00 AM

Peyton has it in his contract that under no circumstances are defenders to interfere with his passes in practice. I think I read that from Woody Paige.

The point is that things have a way of evening out. If Denver does not get good luck and in fact suffers the kind if bad luck the Chiefs did last year, they are screwed. We won 7 games without three if our best players. Denver can't overcome that. And if a bit of bad luck strikes Manning they are really screwed.

I'm trying to think who would even be their 3 best players???

Miller, Colquitt and maybe Bailey by default? Clady is overrated, Manning is doomed... Who else would it be? Kuper maybe, Prater?

Based on the 2010 PFF ratings, the Chiefs lost their 3rd, 7th, and 14th best players. That would be equivalent to the Broncos losing Mays, Bannan, and Mike Adams. I think we'd be okay.

On the other hand, it is very sad that Joe Mays is our 3rd best player.

OMG, please, please, please get the season here. I can't stand all the speculation. I've stated my stance on Manning. I think he is going to be OK, but that is it. At 36, within a year of 4 neck surgeries, and missing the last 18 months of football? If indeed he is really good, it will be the first time in history a person of that age, coming off major surgery, and having missed the entire previous season, will succeed with a new team. Probably the closest was Montana when he came to KC. He was Ok, but not great. What got that team to the AFC championship game was the running game and defense. I think the chiefs and donks will fight it out for the afc west, with one of them winning it at 10-6. Both had similar seasons last year (8-8 v. 7-9) and played weak schedules. Both play tougher schedules this year and have big changes to their teams from last. Should be interesting to say the least.

Demaryius Thomas with some nice catches today. He left his man in the dust on a go route to grab a 40-yard Manning TD pass in 1-on-1 play.

You put this stuff up like anyone on here, besides the three donk fans, care.

Wow. Your D must really suck this year. I kind of figured they would. DJ Williams was probably the 2nd best player on your defense and he isn't even effective vs the run. I guess he's not really effective at all on defense since he's a criminal who should never play in the nfl again.

I'm sure he cherry picked a couple sentences completely out of context and went with them.

I provide a link for a reason

Doesn't mean you didn't cherry pick that report from a donkey homer writer while skipping over the "he's shit" reports from actual writers with solid credentials.

It's only funny if you count Colquitt as a defensive player. Then DJ would be 3rd best.

I don't see why you want to do that though.

There haven't been any negative reports. Peter King had the most "negative" report so far in camp and he even said that he wouldn't be surprised if Manning completes 69% of his passes this year.

It's a thread dedicated to and named for him. And you are posting in it. Now who cares?
