The most useful for connecting the line to a hook or lure is the Trilene Knot. <iframe width="640" height="360" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/epC6O7C-WLc?feature=player_embedded" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe> |
I bought an outrigger for my canoe. It was a under $200. Fits right behind the rear paddler seat. makes the canoe totally stable. It is great for lake fishin.

hell, i can always find something around the house that floats.

The white bass run is on here. Sadly, I'm leaving town for my Spring Break (actually not that sad, since I'm going to Palm Beach).
|
Also if you are gonna crappie fish get some aberdeen style hooks and a pair of needle nose pliers to put in your pocket...
http://www.basspro.com/Gamakatsu-Cra...ct/15834/55463 Aberdeen hooks have a longer shaft (like me) and it's easier to remove from the fish mouth unless they gut swallow it. If they have the hook in a vital area and you don't want to keep the fish and he isn't bleeding, cut the line and let the fish go, sometimes they will live. |

Thunderstorm rolling thru now so if I had been out there I would be wet |
This time of year is brutal for fishing here in the KC area. Weather is great, but water temp just isn't there yet. I'm sellin my boat, so I'm gonna do more canoeing this year

And this is what you can get into during the pre-spawn feed. http://i42.tinypic.com/2r4olro.jpg Just waiting for some spring rains to bring the river up and I’ll be out with a bucket of gold fish and my salt water rigs. |

The best i can do is hunt gar in the illinois & mississippi river, which i'm now committed to doing this year after watching Swamp People last night, reminds me of summers trotlining as a kid, a very athletic fighting fish. |
Incredible footage, its like whale fishing in the kind of tiny boats ancient people used, and it incredibly light gear they're using to do this... its amazing that it never turns for a leaping stab at its tormentor.
Its like the load was light enough that it thought it could outpull the pursuer, never turning to face it, and he was able to slowly ride it down like a one man pack of wolves... hauling it out by hand for the photo-op... pure awesome. |

I need to learn how to string up a pole, and tie a hook to a line.
yeah, yea, I know.... |

Man, I went deep sea fishing in Hawaii last November and I wanted a marlin soooo bad. No luck though - we only caught 1 skipjack and 1 ahi tuna.
It was delicious too! |

Damn, I may have to take some time off this afternoon to gear up and hit the river. Coming up that fast the fish are going to be on. |

I was thinking the same thing. I wonder if loochy just dove in an caught that tuna with his mouth. |

Engineering Counterpart went out to the river to have a look at lunch, he came back saying it was less than a foot from spilling out over the access road out there and it’s done nothing but continue rising since then. <iframe width="420" height="315" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/91OIaPRrDts" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe> |
No fishing for me this week, having to hit it hard at work this week to generate funds to pay property taxes and income taxes without dipping into savings...
|
Truman Lake water temp is still around 49-50. Keeping a close eye on it and am ready to head down and catch a shitload of slabs.
|
I'm headed to the current river next month. I'm really looking forward to spending a day on the water.

I went out to my mom's pond last Friday and caught 44 in about 3 hours. It's cheating, fishing a farm pond with zero pressure, but it doesn't make it any less fun. Nothing but dinks the first two hours, took a break and then came back near sundown and pulled in probably 50 lbs worth of fish in an hour. |

I was talking about fishing in the river though. Just outside of and down stream from where the springs dump into the Niangua. Anything goes there. |
I still need to get my fishing license, and a new fishing pole for that matter. Mine got broke last year.

I tell you what. The ****ing dinks at Chamberlain on the river are pissing me off. Caught probably 50 Walleye's, kept 3....

I hit the river Friday night with a bucket full of perch but only had one good strike right after sunset. Otherwise we sat there till midnight with only a few taps here and there, nothing big enough to take the bait. |
