Edit: Elijah Craig small batch |
It may be in here but I'm too lazy to look.
Had some John Bowman, it's bourbon from Virginia (I know...) - as good as anything I've had. No idea what it costs, but it's worth buying. For our fantasy draft everyone brought a bottle, and this won. Better than Col Taylor Small Batch, Blade & Bow, Booker's, Blaton's, Slaughterhouse, Maker's, and Jefferson's Ocean. Honestly though, those are all amazing drinks. |
I've seen a lot of ppl mention four roses here. It's not bad but I have to say I absolutely prefer either Makers or Bulliet, really. Roses seems to have a little too much thump for me.

Getting slammed on Makers now and I rarely drink. I apologize for knocking Makers earlier, it's golden. Good thing I have autocorrect on. Now because my posts would be unreadable

It's not a bad burbon whatsoever but it just seems to not be as smooth as what I'm used to. |

[QUOTE=Bewbies;12405516]It's great. Maybe Pappy is better, maybe....?[/QUOTE
Chances are I'll never get to make the comparison |

It's ok to be wrong, Flopnuts! :D |
When it comes to Makers it's the cask strength for me. I don't even have a bottle of the regular

I am thinking these guys aren't looking at a $60 price point though. Especially with all the Maker's love in here. :D |

Total Wine is re-stocking 1792 sweet wheat here this October, so I might pick up one of those instead based on your Old Scout take. Thanks! |
Lew I'm broke so I'm getting 1 dollar party shots of bourbon at the gas station

If you can find it I would highly recommend Rowan's Creek. It was around $40. Really enjoyed it and immediately wished I would have picked up 2 bottles when I was in Co Springs. In fact all the Willett bourbons I've tried have been damn good. |

Not a fan of wheated bourbons so I always go for something other than makers, but, if you like Makers then Larceny is a decent alternative.

I'm not a big Bourbon drinker and I can't find anything on this so I'll just ask, has any had Jim Beam Apple and how is it?

and for what its worth, i really like a good old tawny port. if you enjoy oak aging and its effects on spirits, an old port is about as good as it gets.

:) even so, if you have get a chance to try Midwinter's Night Dram from High West, give it a shot. soooooo freaking good. it is a blend of 6 and 16 year ryes finished in port casks.

Wife likes these flavored whiskey for making drinks but the Crown Royal Apple is much better than the Beam. She likes to mix it with Cranberry juice for a Washington apple drink. I still prefer to do equal parts of Crown, cranberry juice and sour pucker for a Washington Apple, however. |

We bought some Crown Honey and I love it in lemonade, Crown Maple too. Great summer drinks to sip while in the pool. |
Just had a glass of Woodford Double Oak... Pretty smooth.

Anyone like Rowan's Creek? Its a really great value for a fine Bourbon.

After finnishing up a project back East the Super gave me a bottle of Hillrock Solera aged Bourbon whatever solera aged means. I got to checking it out and its about 90 bucks a bottle. Been kinda leery of trying as I might like to well. Any one have any experience with this.

edit: I went to angelsenvy.com and they still call it "Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskey finished in Port Wine Barrels"... |
Bourbon just means that a certain percentage of the mash is corn.

I'm drinking Jim and coke, I guess it's drinkable by itself but I'd rather drink better stuff if I'm drinking it straight.
|
Buffalo Trace is very good with a cube of ice in it...
