Why would the Chiefs feel the need to announce that a coach is being retained when they never considered letting him go? This idea of firing Sutton is only in the heads of the fans.

Maybe they got rid of the problem last year(Dorsey)

Maybe they are planning to hit FA and the draft hard on some defense.

Sutton had a top 10 defense his first 3 years here, but when your starting OLB is zombo, and you are working with multiple tried #2 CBs can't do shit right, maybe they realized that personnel outweighs scheme.

Yes. Likely that Dorsey was seen as the problem. If true Sutton could get multiple years to "fix" the D and worst case will be here until Reid can no longer take the team further with Mahomes.

Normally no butt with all the rumor and fans wanting his head on a platter I dont think it would be out of the question to shut down the rumor mill.

Its called a vote of confidence and is done with coaches of all sports.

Why do you think they need an elaborate statement?

Every media guy everywhere already asking the question: is it true that you're thinking about replacing Bob Sutton?
Reid/hunt/veach/veachs grandma/Reid's dog: "No."

That's it. Answer the simple question everyone is already asking them.

I never said they needed an elaborate statement. I was the one saying they wouldn't need any statement at all.

Only when there's widespread talk in the media to the contrary.

So weird to expect an announcement for retaining a coach nobody expected to be gone.

Maybe that's what every season ticket holder should do, that is up for renewal, send a letter/email back stating they are waiting to renew, to see if there is a change in D coordinators? Might peak Clarks interest?

It is not a statement. They are being asked the question. Just answer the question. They normally do. The silence is highly unusual for us.

On a side note, this is the third coach they have hired/promoted that has been a black dude.
