It's not just fan opinion, there are endorsements out there of Smith's All-American caliber play as a sophomore.

In 2007, Smith was a co-winner of the SEC's Jacobs Blocking Trophy along with Arkansas' Jonathan Luigs. Luigs won the Rimington Award which goes to the best center in the country.

Smith should have been a third-team All-American in the very least. He was snubbed.
