Remy was magic

Yeah, Remy was instant energy and offense (well, and defense). Several "WTF is that shot- okay cool"

Remy picked us up when our offense hit a lull and single-handedly willed our offense under 5, before passing it off to Big Dave down-low to finish off the Tarheels. Always dreamed KU would get a player who would carry us like that and Remy delivered when it mattered most.

Speaking of Big Dave, I saw there were some questions about whether or not his name gets in the rafters? Dude just wrote it up there himself with the last three games.

Which is one hell of a regroup because the entire first half he looked like an overeager dog. He was way too juiced up. He came up hig when he needed to which is all that matters

Woke up this morning. Yep, we’re still National Champions who pulled off the greatest comeback in championship history.

Jayhawks how we holding up this A.M.?

That play was huge. And I thought in real time he fouled. That shit was clean as a whistle. Remy was fire. The turnaround he had this year…I’ve never seen anything like it. I know he was injured. And self is a wizard for making some kind of call to be like GTFO of any ball until it’s right. But even then to go from 0 to **** you like he did, even compared to where he was pre-injury, is just incredible. Especially defensively. He was never going to be a Garrett type stopper, but he made a ton of huge plays defensively and a shitton of effort that undoubtedly made a big difference.

The confidence he had is just amazing. I’ve never seen anything like it.

Probably the play that surprised me in watching the highlights was on Daves basket where he beat Manek and Bacot, Bacot bailed out. In real time I was like, “WTF? Cool!” But he bailed because Wilson was crashing. Wilson stays in the corner, maybe Dave feeds him maybe not. But that’s a fairly important cut in the history of KU basketball.

It bears repeating. It’s never not enjoyable to watch Manek get destroyed by KU. I’ve seen it a lot now, and it’s always good.

I feel fortunate that my pres are all down. Haven’t had a drop of rain on them so not so fortunate. I have to close pivot tracks in BFE so I needed an early start. :sulk:

Are you using the dry Valor? I worked hard to get around supply issues for the liquid stuff.

I hadn't planned on drinking much, but put a couple heavy stouts in the fridge. Meant to have one in the first half and then a celebratory beer if they won.

Started on the first one about 30 minutes prior to tip and didn't even nurse it long enough to make it to gametime (and note, these are like 15%, they're sippers)..... then said **** it at halftime and opened the celebratory beer, because I was either going to suffer through the 2nd half with great beer or they would make the comeback (or at least not look like ass).

Same beer I opened after the SB win, actually.

I don't normally like to boast, however this is the morning for it. All of you KU fans are welcome. Thanks to my selflessness, KU is a National Champion this morning.

I started the game with a chew in; KU opened up the game and was looking to run away with it. I admittedly got a little more comfortable with the game than I should have, got rid of my chew and started drinking. Immediately KU started struggling and ended the half down 15.

I drank a couple beers in the 1st half & then had a mixed drink at half - but I realized that this is what I have been training for and that my teammates needed me now more than ever. So before the 2nd half started, I had another chew and kept it in through the rest of the game. The rest is history.

I'll need someone that can get in contact with Bill Self to let him know he'll need to order an extra championship ring as I'm now officially part of the team - dare I say the most important member of the team & staff. And for those of you that are real fans of KU, I will accept cash and gifts (minimum $100) as a thank you for bringing this team from the jaws of defeat into victory.

Sometimes you have to sacrifice to get what you want. My teammates & I wanted a ring, so it was a sacrifice I was willing to do.

Hasn't anyone found a championship shirt that doesn't look like it was made with Microsoft Word clip art?

I made my 3 year old stay up for the whole game.

Taught him to Wave the Wheat as the team celebrated. Nothing beats moments like that.

Seems like a good time to bump this prediction.

I assume that last sentence was referring to the seed we would play in the National Championship. Nailed it.

Yup

Quote:

While the black KU pullover was pretty basic, Robinson’s hat caught some eyes. Not only was it autographed by the members of the 2008 national championship team, but it also featured Robinson’s piece of the net, tied to the back, from that KU win in San Antonio 14 years ago.

Robinson said Monday marked the first time the hat and net had left his house.

“I had to bring it out,” he said, noting that he hoped it would bring the current Jayhawks the same good fortune that his team experienced.

If they can improve their outside jump shots (both need to improve their release to be quicker and more compact) and work on their consistency, they could come back and have the same kind of year that Och did.

And with Rice, Dick, Udeh, and Eijofor coming in, this team could make another run at the title.

Is it too early to be thinking about 2022-23???

https://www.espn.com/mens-college-ba...nkings-2022-23

4. Kansas Jayhawks

After seeing its national championship dreams get canceled by COVID-19 in 2020, Kansas was able to get to Monday night for the first time in 10 years -- the last time the Final Four was in New Orleans -- and finish the job with its fourth national championship. Next year the Final Four is in Houston, but the Jayhawks could get there again. Ochai Agbaji, David McCormack, Christian Braun, Mitch Lightfoot and Remy Martin are all likely to be gone, but there will be some continuity with Dajuan Harris Jr. and Jalen Wilson expected back. Bill Self is also bringing in a stellar recruiting class, highlighted by elite scorer Gradey Dick and powerful offensive player MJ Rice. A third top-25 recruit, Ernest Udeh, will help replace the frontcourt talent -- but returnees K.J. Adams and Zach Clemence will help, too.

Projected starting lineup:
Dajuan Harris Jr. (5.4 PPG)
Gradey Dick (No. 8 in ESPN 100)
MJ Rice (No. 19 in ESPN 100)
Jalen Wilson (11.0 PPG)
Ernest Udeh (No. 23 in ESPN 100)

I can't imagine Self starting 3 freshman.

I started a GOFUNDME to raise funds to cover KCC’s March madness losses.

Especially if Braun returns, in which he should!

Seems like a good time to bump this prediction.

I assume that last sentence was referring to the seed we would play in the National Championship. Nailed it.

It is kind of funny if you think about predictions early on and how this ended up working out. If I had told you that Braun would be basically the same player as last year, Harris will never develop a jump shot and will still be openly passing up layups in the last game of the year, Remy would be so injured and ineffective that, with a big 12 title on the line in the last game of the regular season that goes to OT he will play less than 10 minutes, the freshman would contribute basically nothing in the tournament and only randomly through the regular season, JCL is only a deep bench role player, and Mac is still as inconsistent as ever, I don’t think anyone would have been predicting a national title much less a 1 seed. A nice surprise but I don’t think anyone saw this playing out quite like it did.

Clemens might start ahead of Udeh...unless he projects to be a one-and-done guy (I'm not a 247/Rivals member, so I don't know the scoop)

Agreed!

Udeh is super raw. I’ll be shocked if he starts.

Rice or Dick probably will. I’m leaning Rice.

Self trusts Adams on defense, so he might start at the 4. Clemence would then start at he 5.

Braun probably declares. I think Wilson comes back. I hope McCormack comes back, but we’ll see.

It’s not pretty, but I think the initial starting 5 is:

Harris
Rice
Wilson
Adams
Clemence

I thought that was Jeff Graves with his hands on Paul, but not 100% sure.

People are sleeping on Zuby Eijofor. With a year of weight training and being coached by this staff, he may end up being the most promising NBA prospect.

I believe he can still use the Covid year of eligibility due to the 2020 postseason being canceled.

Best part: after Self walked thru the handshake line he went towards Roy and yelled “How’s my ass taste?!?!”

As it would have it, I picked KU in my bracket pool to win the tournament (I generally do unless it is a team like 2021). Came 2nd, though, which doesn't do me much good in a winner-take-all format.
