you guys do realize that we were pretty ****ing unlucky in the 90s...right?
The Tony G catch with no instant replay...the kicker who shall go unnamed? I always talk about bounces and how you need them to win Super Bowls or playoff games... well a great example is the Patriots in 2007 and 2011. They should have won both of those games, but Eli made two ridiculous plays that are like 5% plays and Welker dropped a game sealing pass. we can blame Carl and Marty and there is certainly merit ESPECIALLY for Carl and the 2000s but the 90s were a success we just were the unluckiest mother ****ers...in fact, Marty is just one unlucky ****er between kickers and fumbles. |
if Andy Reid can install a winning culture and get Arrowhead back, even at 80%, to what it once was...I'll be happy. More than happy. I was jealous of that Seattle/San Fran game. Those Seattle fans were NUTS. That used to be us.

I think Pioli is going to be around to do paperwork and make sure the beer contract is renewed, but probably won't have much to do with football. |
Quote:
When it's Earnest Byner AND the Drive AND a missed kick AND a phantom PI AND a guy fumbling a game-sealing interception AND another missed kick AND... Well, I'm sure you get the picture. Marty is NOT unlucky. He's one of the worst playoff coaches of all time. |

Heard from 2 different sources now that Pioli will definitely be fired. |

If Reid is hired and brings a new GM, who then drafts a QB first overall, ST sales will skyrocket. People will show up, KC absolutely loves the Chiefs, they just hate what they've become. But thats all about to change. |
one long shit show on 610
basically, 'it's risky'....same knee jerk reaction that comes up whenever QBs are discussed.... we're 2-14 and haven't won a playoff game since aids was scary, but Reid isn't good enough for us, neither is any QB in the draft...we're so special and precious... |

Again, if LaCanfora is saying it, it's probably solid. He's Pioli's mouthpiece.

Actually, it's NOT risky. He's a proven NFL coach. Hiring Chip Kelly would be risky. |

As soon as we pick a QB I'm going to post "oh no it risky" just for The Talking Can.

Hasn't Reid won more playoff games in his tenure with Philly then the chiefs have in their existience? That alone makes the hiring justified
|
Why do they always let this jackasses on air?

I love the hire. He will build it into a winning program, and you have to be in position to win it all. I'm tired of watching the garbage games each Sunday. I'm just ready to watch something that resembles professional football.

been listening to 610 all day, had to turn it off, started giving me a headache

but what you just described is ridiculous Marty isn't kicking the ball...should Marty have gotten better kickers? Probably. He can't help an idiot fumbling at the goal line or a game-sealing INT or Nate Kaeding or that dipshit #2... I mean, come on. But what's the point of even debating? I thought Marty was a damn good coach but I was also 13 when he left the Chiefs so what the **** do I know? I just really miss the HB pass...why did Norv take that out of LT's repetoire? Every Marty team always had a BADASS HB pass and it worked 4-5 times a year and very rarely didn't result in a TD. What happened?! We haven't seen a HB pass (I'm not counting that Peyton Hillis thing this year) in the NFL in YEARS. Why? Why? |

Marty lost on those plays because he never had a franchise QB.
Well, he did, but he got his brains turned into mush. He's unlucky because he never had the guy who makes his own luck. |
Jarvis Jones is Lawerence Taylor.

What a way to start out the offseason... I'm loving the news!

I guess I wouldn't slit my wrists. I wouldn't be thrilled, but I'm willing to give the benefit of the doubt to the new regime, just like I did with Pioli :shake: I still PRAY, AND HOPE we just take Geno Smith. Please please please. |

Marty was known for the smashmouth running game, right? Marcus Allen had over 100 yards rushing at halftime of the 1995 home playoff game against the Colts and the Chiefs came out in the 2nd half throwing the ball all over the field. Steve Bono threw 2 (or was it 3) picks, and the Chiefs lost when Ray Finkle missed the kick. Quote:

Not even close and he has spinal stenosis But I've been told over and over that for a guy to be drafted first overall, he has to be a potential HOF'er. |
Quote:
It's the perfect storm of shitty radio. |
Quote:
It's not that he won't dominate because of the stenosis - he could be a stud in the NFL for all I know. It's that there's no way to know how long he'll hold up. Other recent players with spinal stenosis have last about 6 years before they started seriously declining. |
I guess, and this is just my opinion, I really don't care much about defense. All I want is a middle of the pack defense that MAYBE has one strength (pass rushing) that can get off the field on 3rd and long (something Romeo can't do)...
I truly believe you win in the NFL with an elite offense and the ability to get to the passer when needed. Nothing else. You don't need an elite secondary (look at what Dallas tried to do...they still were average at best)...you just need a constant pass rush. So if Jarvis Jones combo'd with Houston and Hali = elite pass rush then IT WOULDN'T BE THE END OF THE WORLD but I'd still be unhappy because I think Houston and Hali are good enough to get to the passer enough to get us off the field on 3rd downs ENOUGH to be successful. I think I'm contradicting myself. What I'm trying to say is...I want start a MOTHER **** YOU ANDY REID thread if we take Jones #1 AS LONG AS WE address the QB positon (AND BY ADDRESS I DON'T MEAN SIGN MARK SANCHEZ TO COMPETE WITH BRADY QUINN) |
A local network in Philly is reporting that Reid will bring Juan Castillo with him to coach the offensive line if he finishes the deal with KC.
That would be a really good hire. He is an excellent offensive line coach. |

I honestly hate college football. The only time I start paying attention is when this board identifies the talent and then I have to go check it out for myself, like Geno Smith. Just sitting and watching a game? BORING I'm just an NFL guy. |

Rumors also coming out that Pat Shurmur could be the offensive coordinator. There were reports a handful of days ago that Reid was interested in Childress. But Shurmur is the latest rumor. Still fluid situation.

Blackstone brings up bringing in Vick. **** you

So Reid gets hires, Arizona hires Haley because Reid doesn't even make it to an interview, then Pioli gets fired.
That leaves Reid in KC, Haley in AZ, and Pioli shitcanned, partially because we hired they guy the team that hired Haley wanted. LMAO |
Quote:
But maybe Star is the next Warren Sapp? No? He has no pass rush skills you say? HMMMM? Oh yeah, I forgot Joeckel is Jonathan Ogden. What? He comes from a spread system? Wait what? |
And now Keitzman is back on bashing Reid again. 50-45. Hasn't won a playoff game since George Bush was president.
|
if they want to bring in Vick and use him like they did when he was behind McNabb then BY ALL MEANS...but lol, I don't think Reid is hitching his wagon to Vick ever again. And I don't think Vick is going to go anywhere to be a back up or gadget, and I think SOMEONE will pay him a starter's contract, at least for 1 year.

There were rumors that Duce Staley would follow Andy Reid to his next job, but he is staying in Philly, so that isn't happening now.
