They have some great Bottle Logic bottles at the moment (and the Dragon's Milk reserve). |
I’m honestly down this next weekend.
The 24th. |

EDIT: You meant Ground Control |
I'm driving further than all you ****ers no matter where we go, so there are many great options..... I love Ground Control. Fate is also very good if ya'll want food (Ground Control has better beer, Fate might have slightly better food). I've never been to an OHSO, but would love to try it (one of the 3 in Scottsdale). Angel's Trumpet House is downtown-ish.
If no one cares about food, The Theodore is down the street from Angel's, and there's also Wandering Tortoise and King's, or the place OTWP mentioned earlier. |

Woof.
Bourbon followed by Twisted Tea, followed by Moose Drool, followed by brawts and Doritos make for an interesting smell to my morning farts. |
Lives up to the rating as a top 5 stout in the country. It really excels in its body/thickness, and great mix of coffee and maple syrup.

IIRC, you homebrew, too? Tried this one this afternoon as well, which is basically someone's homebrew... they're starting to get a business together (Innocence Beer Company) in Phoenix and really the only thing I could nitpicks is that it could use some aging, as it was pretty whiskey forward. Pretty amazing what people can produce from home (I've always kind of sucked at it). https://i.imgur.com/Sgb7FpM.jpg |
Revolution's Cuvée de Grâce (2021) that was released on Friday
The 2021 edition of Cuvée de Gráce features these incredible components: 11 barrels of Deth's Tar, sweet component – Fudgy, ridiculously aromatic with vanilla and marshmallow notes, and quite nearly thicker than our love for Oatmeal Stout. Every bit of this component comes from rum barrels. 7 barrels of Ryeway to Heaven, dry component – This exceedingly dry Ryeway provides the delicate balance and intriguing spice to complement the sweeter elements in the blend. Six of these are from bourbon barrels, and one is a rum barrel. 14 barrels of Straight Jacket, sweet component – This isn’t quite V.S.O.J. Not enough time on it for that. Let’s call it V.S.O.Jr. The sweet toffee and caramel notes are everything you want from an English Barleywine and more. Eight of these barrels are bourbon, and six are rum. 2 barrels of Thundertaker – We kept a few barrels from the 2020 Deep Wood kickoff, and we’re glad we did. The harmony between Canadian rye and chocolatey stout notes give just the right accent. 2 barrels of Ryeway to Heaven/Straight Jacket blend – Mostly Ryeway topped off with a bit of Barleywine to fill volume. The perfect midpoint between our Ryeway and Straight Jacket components. https://i.imgur.com/bVrLsOn.jpg?1 |

I’m attempting to get a Side Project special release tomorrow. For those who have done this, how quickly do they sell out?
|

Make sure to have a Shop Pay account setup for express checkout beforehand, otherwise don't bother. Good luck. I'll be trying as well. |

Cory seems to be planning on this not going all that fast since the package is likely going to be around $120-130. There are no purchase limits either. Could last for a bit, could be a shitshow. Bet on the latter.
I'll try as well. Why not? |
Order confirmed.
|
Easy peasy
|
Super simple. I had a package before the IG post even went up.
|
Anyone need to hire a "proxy"
|
What do you think these will go for on the secondary market? I’m not selling mine but some guy told me that the stout could go for $300-400.

https://www.facebook.com/groups/1797224377243413 Somewhat of a decent resource as well: https://www.mybeercollectibles.com/ I saw one trade locally for a SP BBT4 which seems to be in the 375-450 range EDIT: Currently 390 on mybeercollectibles so that jives |
That’s batshit crazy.
|
Seeing it mostly in the mid-300s in other secondary groups
Chicago "winners" will drive it down even further in a week when rent's due |

I’ve been at Ground Control since 4.
I knew Bearcat wouldn’t show. |

We need to lay a "Bear" trap for Bearcat. That is a very elusive cat right there.....;) |
LMAO
Well, if ya'll would actually plan something next time. I knew it was probably doomed once there was talk about doing something other than Ground Control and I provided some other options. I just didn't want to be the one calling all the shots in case I couldn't make the drive. But, I'm used to being the one who breaks the cycle of "well, we could...", so once OTWP is back in town, I can always be the one to specify a date and time if no one else can commit. :p |

Picked up a Colonel EH Taylor Small Batch, Smoke Wagon Small Batch and Early Times BIB. |
Picked up my haul from Side Project this weekend and also visited Narrow Gauge, Rockwell, 2nd Shift and Heavy Riff. Heavy Riff was the only one I hadn't been to before and I was pleased.
|
Phase Three here in Chicagoland is doing contactless deliveries to your doorstep for a $5 delivery fee. Thats some new normal I can get behind.
*hard seltzer is for an out of town guest https://i.imgur.com/dOlm2g8.jpg?1 |
Narrow Gauge is doing shipping in Missouri.
Also - I did a subscription order with Craft Beer Kings and so far i'm happy - all 6 stouts i've never had, and of the 6 only Evil Twin and Off Color distribute here, although i've never seen these particular beers in stores. Best thing about the shipment was it wasn't marked as alcohol so I didn't have to be home to sign for it. Pretty sure none of that is legal in Kansas. |

WAY too boozy tasting for my liking. The 90 minute is much better. |
KC lost a fantastic brewer and an even better person last week. Rodney from 3 Halves passed away. Never had a bad beer from him.
|
Beagle was a good kid. It's a shame. He left two young sons behind. There were hundreds out at Three Halves today for his memorial.
|
Stores are over supplying IPAs.
I like some light pilsners this time of year. 5.5% - 6.5% max. Fate has some nice ones that have Italy or Germany styles and taste. |

I love America. |
Tavour is another one that gets some pretty decent stuff. I've seen Side Project Coffee Shop Vibes on there along with some Anchorage stouts. I recently grabbed a Cycle BA Chocolate Coconut Cinnamon Roll from them.
|
Last time I checked Tavour didn't ship to KS - and with the warmer weather coming up it goes without saying be cautious, especially if you plan on ordering some fruited sours ;)
|
Right. Dark beers only for me if I'm ordering anything at all.
|
Made a quick trip to Ground Control (sorry, lewdog!) for some Toppling Goliath Term Oil Coconut Monster Cookie... first time I've seen one of their stouts for sale in Arizona.
$15 for a 5oz pour, server said their TG bill was ~3 grand (granted, they did have several of their common beers on tap, too). And it was ****ing phenomenal... maybe kind of reminiscent of Modern Times Monsters Park (but, it's been a few years since I've had that), seriously worth the $15.... and talked them into bringing home another 16oz at a discounted price. :D https://i.imgur.com/gCoQN8B.jpg |
Quote:
That’s as expensive a pour as I think I’ve ever seen outside of stuff like Utopias. |
Quote:
They gave me the crowler for $35, so it was discounted by about $13. But yeah, I'm sure it was the most I've ever paid per ounce (and I'm grudgingly used to paying ~$25-30 for 16.9oz bottles). I wanted to try their Cherry Fandango, too, but they were out. |

Made it out to Mikerphone for the tail end of their Smells Like A Beer Fest
Was able to try the Double Barrel Smells Like Bean Spirit which is a banger They also had some great guest taps like Weldwerks Old Elk Medianoche Left with a BA Smells Like Bean Spirit and some hops https://i.imgur.com/E7nYnlU.jpg?1 https://i.imgur.com/o9Hyb6h.jpg?1 |
Love it. Need Mikerphone out here.
The one interesting beer lately was from Florida... very smooth and tasty. https://i.imgur.com/5KpRq6Q.png Oh, and Bananarchy from OHSO... they had a 2019 keg aged in mead barrels and a 2020 keg aged in Buffalo Trace barrels. :drool https://i.imgur.com/45xB1VU.png |
When its 10:30am and them boys pull up to deliver the west coasts, hazies, and fruited sours for the weekend.

Speaking of Toppling Goliath, they have a new DIPA out called Hot Dog Time Machine which is a collab with local homies Hop Butcher
It appears to be hitting markets throughout TG's distro footprint Vic Secret, Simcoe, Sabro, and Mosaic I'm a Sabro fan and this is probably the most balanced use of it I've had in case you're leery So buy it if you see it (preferably if its been stored cold within 4-6 weeks) https://i.imgur.com/l4yV9s4.jpg?1 |
