Might as well, but Michigan is just going to say "Whatever they offer you, bring it here and we'll multiply it until you say yes"

GB's value, after being out of the game for nearly 10 years, is pretty low. A lot has changed in the last 10 years. There is a reason people aren't knocking down his door for a HC gig. So yeah, there are superior options to GB, including the guy they have at the spot today - Bowen.

Here's the thing. No one is going to work harder, be more loyal, and have a better understanding and passion for ku football than Bowen. He's 45, a Larryville native, ku alum, relates to his players, a good recruiter, has been a DC and knows the B12. His next most logical step is HC. Unless ku can put together a HR hire (which I doubt), why would you want to hire anyone else? ku needs to think in terms of building a Program, and less about flash. Weis was all hat and no cattle (ku's version of Ron Prince - with less success). Radio was in over his head from day 1. Bowen is your guy.

Pretty logical point...

No KU would never hire a mizzou alum for any major job. I could be wrong thiugh since we hired a KSU one for AD and he hasn't done a damn thing. (Cue fans telling us about the great upgrades to the women's soccer practice field bathroom stalls)

I'm actually okay with this*. Good post.

* I reserve the right to to change my mind if KU looks worse as the conference season goes on.

I agree that they could do a lot worse than Bowen.

Why do people still think this? Gill and Mangino are not on the books. Only Weis and whomever is the next HC will be on the books next year.

Prison Bitch 10-09-2014 08:45 AM

Weis isn't going to be on the books either, he accepted a reduced buyout already. But carry on

That's a step in the right direction, only paying two head coaches at a time. Keep that up. :D

Bambi 10-09-2014 09:06 AM

Harbaugh fire keeps burning. He's my #2 after Beaty.

Consider the source. Dude is a terrible poster.

Gus Malzan and Harbaugh were ready to take the job last two times KU was in this situation.

Two of the best coaches in the game today. A "home run" hire doesn't matter until you see results.

Hiring a KSU or Mizzou alum has never worked out. Zenger has done a couple nice things but he isn't big time.
