No, it's how probabilities work.
When you put a guy in to face a lefty that is statistically more likely to succeed against lefties than the alternative option, then one shouldn't be all that taken aback when he actually succeeds. It's important to remember that Laz is routinely among the most ill-informed and irrational posters this board has to offer. |
If he's any good, any chance we re-name the K "Maxwell House"?

Hey, I was thinking about this yesterday. We all have heard of the "Rule 5 Draft." What happened to Rules 1 thru 4? And what are those rules???

Maxwell - who again has a .379 lifetime OBP against lefties - also drew a walk and later scored against Diamond.
So the guy that hits lefties well, who's mere appearance in the lineup against a lefty today was a travesty and a sin against mankind, managed to get on base twice in his 3 ABs against said lefty, scoring a run and driving in another. That's some seriously pompous, traditionalist bullshit right there. Laz: Idiot. |

Harold Reynolds thinks the Royals will make the playoffs over instead of the Indians.

This morning before today's game, the playoff odds at baseball prospectus actually dropped for the Royals to win the division, but the odds of winning the wild card went up a lot.
We're now at 0.3% to win the Central, 2.5% to win a wild card, 2.8% overall for the playoffs. I imagine tomorrow we'll be somewhere over 3%. Our odds of winning the world series also went up, from 0.0% to 0.1%. |
