What exactly is Kyle Smith if not a low-level pitching prospect? Why is Pineyro the throwaway line whereas Smith is a huge loss?

Smith is a 20 yr old kid that's pitching well in high A right now. Pineyro is 21 yr old kid that is also pitching well in high A right now, but actually has a little size and projectability.

The Nationals gave up a guy that's very very similar to Smith, but with fewer innings under his belt at high A. And Hairston is older, more expensive and under team control for less time. He's also not the defender that Maxwell is.

I'm not saying that this justifies the Royals move but what I am saying is that the market for a legitimate plus defensive OFer and lefty mauler was much higher than this author suggests. Sure, guys like that would ideally be found in FA, but that didn't happen so now you have to actually give up something to get one.

It's just a silly article. Should Moore have made the move at all? Well that's a fair question - are the Royals really a platoon RFer away from challenging for the division/WC? But did Moore truly overpay? No, he really didn't.

Cameron is really, really annoying. Just comes off like an ass pretty much every time he starts typing.

I think that's a strong indication that the Royals plan to ride Tejada for the next 2+ months, and spell him with EJ when necessary. I'm good with that.

We're pretty much gonna find out how much tejada has left in his tank

Yep. Lough's splits are about even on the Right-handed/Left-Handed pitching match-ups. Dyson is the one who is awful against Lefties, and so is Cain for that matter.

Does anyone know if Lough can play Center? Thought there is to keep Lough in lineup everyday, if possible. Put Maxwell in the lineup in RF against Lefties, and Lough in CF. Put a combo of Cain and Dyson in CF against Righties with Lough in RF

kinda pointless to talk line ups with lead head Ned at the helm

He was brought in to bat against left handers, Scott Diamond is left handed. They don't have a day off until Aug 19 so everyone is going to get a day off here and there.

Maxwell is a career .370 OB .455 slug against lefties, so it's not ridiculous to play him instead of Lough. Now, the wisdom or need to acquire Maxwell in the first place...? Yeah, those are legitimate questions.
