I like Curry. Very workmanlike, high motor player. He could be Hali-lite, with more tread on the tires. Excellent teammate.

2 big concerns:
- better suited as a 4-3 End
- will likely command between $6-8 million in salary and is a bit long in the tooth.

wasnt his best pass rushing year when he was a 3-4 DE?

How bout Suh, Vaccaro and Eifert?

Buckweath 03-17-2018 07:00 AM

Just resign Bennie Logan already. And I don't like the state of our CB group. I am ok with the safeties as Berry and Murray plus a draft pick as backup should be good enough.

ShowtimeSBMVP 03-17-2018 07:21 AM

CB EJ Gaines will visit the Cardinals today, source says. Arizona has a need at corner opposite Patrick Peterson. Gaines played good ball for the Bills last year.

The Franchise 03-17-2018 11:01 AM

Titans released DT Sylvester Williams.

Williams signed a three-year, $16.5 million deal last March. He was due a $2.5 million roster bonus coming off a middling first season in Tennessee, so the Titans are moving on. Releasing Williams saves just over $3 million in cap space. Williams should resurface as a nose tackle in 3-4 schemes.

RunKC 03-17-2018 11:01 AM

I would call his agent if Veach thinks Hamilton isn’t the answer at NT. No idea what the staff thinks of the position right now.

Looks like they are looking for a DE tho judging by their interest in Wilkerson

For sure. For the right player, which would be ideally a CB or DL in his 2nd or 3rd year of his rookie contract, he should absolutely trade that Rams' 2nd round pick in 2019.

2 year deal, $10 million tops.

The Chiefs can't invest a bunch of cap space or draft capital in a 2 down player, which is exactly what Veach is avoiding in trading for Ragland and signing Hitchens.

pugsnotdrugs19 03-17-2018 12:44 PM

Hankins is the best available guy. Don’t know if we can give him the money he might want though.

there are plenty of guys out there to improve the DLine. I have faith that mr Veach will get it done, and before the draft even.

This move also shows how badly Ballard has ****ed up in the past year.

He was definitely not "the guy" and apparently, Clark Hunt knew it (or got lucky).

With how much this offense is going to score, 2 down run stuffers have little value.

They don't need superstars, just guys that are available and can be average.

Chris Jones is a monster when healthy and with Hitchens, Houston and a 100% healthy Reggie Ragland, the defense will be be drastically improved (not to mention, a healthy Eric Berry).

Hankins with an 85.0 grade last year, 20th amongst D-Linemen. He will be paid beyond what we can afford.

KC needs a disrupting NT. That’s ideal. Pass rush pass rush pass rush. This offense is gona score a lot. Let Houston and co. tee off.

True but it wouldn’t hurt to pick up a good NT if we can affordably.

If this defense becomes legitimately good against the run, teams can’t even try to slow the game down like they inevitably will against the offense.

Hitchens and a healthy Ragland are a huge upgrade overall.

The Chiefs don't need to break the bank again on a 2 down NT, they just need an adequate run stuffer at NT, IMO.

Oh, I guess I wouldn't say "little" but I don't believe that the Chiefs should be paying a guy $8-10 million per for 2 downs, nor should they spend a Day 2 pick on an NT.

They have pressing needs at Safety and Cornerback and at this point, DE should be a concern as well considering Bailey's been injured the past two seasons and Chris Jones has had two knee surgeries in the last 9 months.

Mother****erJones 03-17-2018 12:56 PM

I still say Veach has one more splash up his sleeve. Is it a trade for young veteran? Not likely. Is it a bold move up into round one to get a Vea, Payne, Derwin James, Jaire Alexander? I think so.

I agree with you.

Im not about spending a bunch on the D Line. There are serviceable players already on the roster, but the team could stand to upgrade at the position.

My biggest worry on the defense right now is the CB spot, and the safety opposite Berry. Perhaps the team believes in McQuay. We dont get to see these guys in practice like the coaching staff does every day so we are always left to wonder how guys like McQuay and Kpass are doing.

Yep, that's why I've been adamant about taking a Safety in the 2nd round and a CB in the 3rd since the season ended.

The Chiefs should be able to get a nice rotational D-lineman in the 3rd round.

Sassy Squatch 03-17-2018 01:07 PM

Seems like Hankins has some ability to rush the passer as well. Utilizing him like we did Logan last year wouldn't be a bad idea, if we could get him.
