Said the same about Hill

Hill put them in a no-win situation. So far, Jones has not done that.

The difference with Hill is that they rightly figured they could have success with a different makeup and Kelce has always been the chains mover.

Jones is the 2nd most important player on the team and the defense struggles when he is not on the field. That said he is pricing himself out of town possibly. If so it would be ideal if they could trade him now as the contract extension that’s possibly coming anyway will probably not age well but there is no way to replicate his production this coming season….tag and trade next offseason is not a bad idea. He’s not sitting out the season, too much $ to leave on the table. Agreeing not to tag isn’t happening.

Regardless I don’t blame them for paying him if that’s how it goes.

I wonder how much stressing Jones is doing each day? The fine my not be too much to him, but I wonder if the team is letting his mind wonder?

Unless there’s some miracle cap solution of which I’m unaware, $500K in cap space going into a season is untenable. Can’t pick up any vets in case of injury.

Jones seems to be treating an outlier contact (Donald) like the baseline. Like with Watson’s fully guaranteed deal, it’s not a precedent.

Stand-off seems pretty tense. Solid 40% CJ is traded.

Link? I don’t remember much being said about Hill before he was traded.

How much in a trade could we get for Chris Jones? It is really not a very smart strategy to give up a bunch of draft picks AND have to make the guy the highest paid at the position. Miami did that for Hill -- maybe a team would do that for Jones, too.

Chris Jones is close to getting shipped out of town. He may make a few more million but then it is going to dawn on him that it's not going to change his lifestyle at all, and he's not having nearly as much fun because he won't be competing for championships every single year.

That situation went from fine to traded in like an hour.

How do you know ow he is about to get shipped out of town? Are you in on the meetings with Varth and Andy Ried and Clark Hunt? Chiefs are set to runic back to the Super Bowl but really need Jones on the field.

Not to mention the scenarios couldn't be more different. Jones wont bring even a 1st round pick. Hill was a transcendent skill position player who was still very young.

Jones will be 30 soon and this will be his 2nd big contract so teams aren't unloading a ton of draft capital and the $$ to get Jones.

"A few more million".

A few more million over a couple years adds up guys.

Just pay them a few more million was Dorsey’s MO.

Yes, clearly Veach is opposed to that.....

Maybe we should ask the highest paid LG and RT in football?

Or

Meet our contract demands, which we think are fair.

I think this freight train is heading right into this. But, in no way does Veach allow this to happen if it gets that far.

The Chiefs still have him controlled for 2 more years. Veach is not agreeing to give a good first round pick. Chris will be sitting out all year if the Chiefs only get this this year and that's it. It will end badly for him and the Chiefs.
