Pretty sure they took inspiration from Kylo Ren stopping the blaster shot at the beginning of Star Wars VII

It has excellent reviews. 85% on Metacritic. One of the best Star Wars games, ever. You're just a hater.

User score of 7, champ.

Mixed, or average.

Good try though. I know it's hard to be honest and objective about a property you're literally obsessed with.

Such an incredible game the third installment is already in production.

Ah. So Metacritic didn't fit your narrative, so we'll move onto Amazon Bot reviews trying to push sales.

Lmao. Clay. You can stop. We know you like the game. It's okay.

I'm sure they are hard at work right now just dropping those climbable wall grate assets all over the newest play area as we speak.

Absolutely no delusions here. LMAO

In 1997 while my classmates were trying to score digits I was trying to score on Madden PC.

Do you know how good that game looked on a Voodoo II? Almost as good as the tits I was not touching at school.

If you take your time and play it slow it’s not so bad but a bit of a grind. If you try and power your way to the ending it’s going to be a struggle.

It's essentially a medieval life simulator in every sense of the word.

When you begin, you're a blacksmiths apprentice son, that is a lazy shit and knows absolutely nothing.

While possible to win the fistfight encounter early, its highly likely you get your ass kicked.

You literally have to train with instructors to learn basic weapon handling. As you master these, the progress made is staggering. You're still not going to want to take on 2-3 fighters at once, but you'll learn to hold your own in single combat pretty well.

You have to eat, sleep, bathe, change clothes, and things you do are remembered by the npcs.

When brewing potions, you literally must get the recipe, go to the mortar and pestle, grind your ingredients, measure your ingredients, and cook for the exact amount of time, or the concoction fails.

It's really fun but you need to really understand what you're getting into and commit.

Do I HAVE to brew potions? That was one part of Oblivion, Skyrim and the Fallouts I skipped entirely, apart from one set of armor during Skyrim.

You don't have to do it, but it helps immensely. The time consuming brewing process keeps you from just brewing a ton of these things.

It's definitely a game you need to have a lot of time to commit to it. Most of the time will be spent training in weapon handling to get every perk you can get, just so you don't get killed by some asshole bandit on the road. It's definitely not something you want to dive into if you've only got an hour or two here and there to play.

I never did learn how to be worth a shit with a bow. There's no aiming reticle and it's harder than shit to hit anything with it.

It literally gets to a point in the combat where if you land a 3 hit sword combo on someone, you get incredibly hyped. You're literally guarding, specifically targeting the weakness in your enemy's defense, while being careful not to overextended, leave yourself open, or burn your stamina to where you're momentarily defenseless. The first time I took down a trio of bandits, I felt like the king of the world, because in this game that is a massive accomplishment.

I'd heard the original game kind of ended on a cliffhanger, or story felt unfinished, so I never finished the first games main story, but now that 2 has finally come out I'll probably revisit and finish up the story before jumping into part 2.

In typical rpg sequel fashion though, there's a dumbass progression reset that takes place, supposedly Henry gets ambushed and nearly killed, and so you have to relearn everything as part of your recovery process.

I skipped potions in Witcher 3. I just can't do all the micromanagement shit. I don't have the attention span anymore.

Witcher 3 has some pretty cool crafting stuff in there, but on the default difficulty you can pretty much clear the game without ever changing your armor if you play it like a souls-like and are good with your dodges and rolls in combat.

It isn't until Blood and Broken Bones, or Death March difficulty where you really need to upgrade swallow and thunderbolt, and have a full array of oils to coat your blades with, and a decent array of upgraded bombs can get you out of a pinch.

Like, fighting a Bruxa on normal difficulty can be mildly annoying, buy you're never in any real danger. On Death March a Bruxa is the Bane of my ****ing existence.

Going into that fight without vampire blade oil (+10% damage vs vampires) superior dimeritium bombs (300 dmg per second and counters stealth) and Black Blood (15% damage inflicted returned on enemy) while having fully upgraded Swallow and Thunderbolt potions would essentially be suicide.

They're so ****ing fast and annoying as ****, so you really need all of these things just to stop the game from turning your battle into the equivalent of a level 1 trying to fight a level 40.

There's a point in one of the expansions in Toussaint where you have to fight 3 of these bitches at once, and it's one of the most rage inducing moments in the game on Death March.

htismaqe 03-14-2025 11:55 AM

I have not played any of the expansions but did finish the game on the hardest difficulty (at the time, I believe they patched in an even harder settings later on).

Marvel Rivals is pretty impressive for a free to play game. Just wish it wasn't vomiting neon all over the screen constantly. Just a few matches is enough to induce a massive migraine.

Hawkeye's charged headshots are dirty as ****, but with only 250 hp he's an exceptionally fun glass cannon character.

Nothing quite like catching annoying flyers being ****ing annoying while completely unaware they're about to get Skull ****ed by an arrow.

Queue times are nearly instant, it's pretty great pick up and play 6V6 action if you can stand all the neon effects exploding all over the screen constantly.

I neglected to mention how.

Steam is now available on Chrome OS, provided you meet the minimum specs. Most Linux games will work, especially older games like the ones I mentioned.

Wallcrawler 03-20-2025 09:04 AM

I'm pretty pumped about the leaks that some games no longer available will be returning to game pass this year.

Xmen origins: Wolverine. Best wolverine game ever. Blood and gore, damage to Logan regenerating in real time.

Marvel Ultimate Alliance 1 and 2. Loved these games.

Ultimate Spider Man

Spider Man: Web of Shadows

Deadpool

I had all these on older consoles. I'd love to see Punisher come back available that game was fun as hell.

Nah Prey is probably the closest thing to halflife and it has some of the same devs as well or did before the studio was dismantled. This game has been on my wishlist for a while but the graphics are so cheesy I never pulled the trigger.

That’s pretty cool actually. Throw in Medieval Total War and you have the trifecta. I am hoping that they play on a Mac as they are in my Steam library and I plan to get a Mac when my current laptop dies.

I am in the same boat. I have come to realize that I most likely will die before playing all of them. Or they will take away the licenses for them before PS4/PS5 emulators make it to PCs.

They've been available on Mac for a while. Feral Interactive has been doing games for Apple for years and just recently branched into Linux and Android.

That actually makes sense now that you brought it up. I remember the feral name for RTW that you could get in the App Store. If it worked on IPhones it would work on Macs.

It was exceptionally balanced. Always swung high enough not to hit the ground, and automatic flashy animations between swings. Toss in the physics defying but amazing double jump, and im hard pressed to argue in favor of other swing mechanics.

It's a BITCH. Maybe you won't have such a hard time with it being younger, but it was hard. I hated the combat interface. Loathed it. But the game itself was so fantastic that I stuck it out.

A couple of my posts from five years ago:

In some ways it's totally amazing, but at the same time perhaps the most frustrating game I've ever played. EVER. The combat is so difficult to figure out that it makes the Witcher games look like Pong. My character is level 10 and I still get beat down in the tournament like I'm a ****ing toddler by the guards who cost 50 pounds each. I assume at some point I'll get it, but I'm not there yet. At least I'm finally to the point where I can fight off the average random assailants that jump me when I'm attempting to fast travel.

It makes sense that everything should be difficult for some bumbling illiterate kid, and this game makes no bones about this. You're not Geralt of Rivia or the Dragonborn, or the Vault Dweller who can at least pick up a gun and shoot it correctly with the aid of a Pip Boy. Everything is a pain in the ass in the beginning. Hell, you have to get to level 5 before you can shoot a bow correctly without injuring yourself, and much like in real life, there is no target reticle in the middle of the screen. At this point I've wished death upon the game developers, their families and everyone they've ever met, but I'm still at it.

It's still a pain in the ass, but also fantastic. I rank it right up there with Witcher 3. I love immersive games like this, and it's frankly a great place to hide from all the shit that's going on right now. You have to eat, but not too much; you have to repair your armor, clothing and weapons; you have to bathe regularly so people will deal with you favorably; you have to feed your dog or he gets pissed and wanders off. If you're going into battle, you'd better prepare yourself beforehand, because you can't drink your potions while fighting. I mostly started over (no desire to play through the very beginning) and did a better job developing my character the second time around. I finally get how the combat works, although there is never a time you become immortal - I can still get jumped and killed by a bunch of peasants if they quickly surround me and start wailing on me from all sides, no matter what kind of weapon I'm wielding or armor I'm wearing. Which I guess is how it would have been in real life.

I did break down and install one mod - it gives me a reticle for bow shooting. That just drove me nuts. Of course, even with the reticle it's still difficult; even with maxed out strength, agility and vitality, Henry still takes forever to pull the string back and fire. I was hoping at higher levels he'd turn into Legolas; ain't ****ing happening. The hunting aspect is great fun, though.

I highly recommend this game, despite its warts. But unless you have the patience for the steep learning curve and slow skill development, it may not be for you.

Dayze 03-24-2025 06:48 AM

Went to GameStop to pick up mlb the show the other day as I had been playing ncaa 25 football since July. The GameStop nearest me apparently closed down so I went to the 2nd closest. What a sad state of affairs. Probably a 4’x4’ section of new ps5 games. And despite being release day for The Show, they only had one copy. Lol.

Anyway, so as I’m standing there and weird GameStop guy is trying to upsell me on everything under the sun, specifically pre orders. I only buy maybe four games per year and I mentioned the only game I’m waiting on coming out is GTA 6.

This guy starts playing really coy about when it’s coming out (even though I know no info has been released yet but is likely imminent. Saying stuff like “lettttts just say you should be seeing something in October” . He then starts asking me about how big /how much storage I have on my PS5 and goes in to imply you’ll need the entire HD storage for the game, or possibly an external HD.

Take that for what it’s worth. I’m constantly trying to keep up on the latest info about the game, and while it’s a given The game will take up a lot of storage etc, first I’ve heard about that’s sort of storage requirement. I doubt some local GameStop worker bee would be in The know of something that is likely under tight wraps.

I don't know how anyone gets through these games in time to start a different one, outside of perhaps being drawn to the era the game takes place in.

I must have some sort of record for hours logged in a game series without completing the game.

Odyssey is by far my favorite era thusfar and I literally get sidetracked just roaming around and kicking the shit out of bounty hunters and collecting things, then I look up and two hours have gone by in a blink and I have to get my ass in gear and get back to adulting.

Syndicate is my other one.

I think I only ever finished the original. I have Black Flag, but never started it. Haven't played origins or Valhalla either despite having access to both.

It seems to me that if feudal Japan and samurai oriented material are your thing, it should be a pretty safe bet you'll drop a ton of time in Shadows.

For me, it's absolutely the historical settings that keep me coming back. I've loved every AC game in some way but Origins, Odyssey, and Valhalla were all games I put 100's of hours into.

Regarding AC Odyssey, that is my favorite so far and one that I have spent well over 100 hours on. Also the only one that I beat. I have heard great things about Black Flag but haven’t played it yet.

I do plan to wait until Shadows drops in price though. I will say feudal Japan is a great setting for games and Ghost of Tsushima is one of my favorite games of all time.

I played this for about an hour last night, and while I haven't given up entirely, I found it incredibly underwhelming.

The AI is absolutely ATROCIOUS. I entered an outlaw camp, triggered one of the literal ten thousand God damn tripwires in the game, and soon a huge band of Outlaws descended upon me. Pretty standard right?

I climbed a ladder to a concrete landing that offered cover from the gunfire, and literally every single God damn one of these Outlaws happily climbed the ladder to receive my axe to their face. Eagerly shambling over the pile of bodies of previous contestants.

Guns are pretty underwhelming, admittedly they are both rusty, single shot pieces of shit rifle and shotgun, but listen, if they do so little damage, make ammo available. I'm all for scrounging minimal ammo, every shot counts, thats great. Make the weapon viable and ammo precious.

Otherwise, I should just be carrying another melee weapon in its place.

Crafting appears to require enough cloth to make a ****ing beach towel just to make one single bandage.

Skill progression looks to be annoying, requiring stimulants to be found in order to learn skills that anyone with a single moving brain cell would already know how to do.

Again, traps everywhere. I'm surprised theres not a tripwire on the main character zipper for when he needs to take a piss. You easily spot it, but can do nothing because you don't have the skill to disarm it.

Like bro. The wire is attached to the pin of the grenade. Keep the pin secured, cut the wire.

By the time I'd explored the general first area, found this games version of feral ghouls, 2 guns, several weapons, and slaughterd an entire encampment of functional reeruns, I just wasn't having any fun doing it.

Perhaps it picks up if you just follow the story, but as for general exploration, combat, that sort of "find your own fun" that drives these types of games, I just didn't find much on the initial play session.

Jesus that was ****ing depressing. 28 hours of pure ****ing anti-mirth. Good game but...jesus.

Currently addicted to Sniper Elite: Resistance invasion mode.

Invading a player that is playing through their campaign missions, and killing them just never gets old.

Hard to justify a console for just one game. I ended up with my PS5 due to exclusivity of the Spider-Man IP, so it was essentially 3 games.

Days gone got shit on pretty hard when it launched, but it's a solid Zombie title if that genre is your cup of tea.

You'll progress from a sissy running from one or two zombies, to by the end you're death incarnate and engaging literal hundreds at a time.

You'll develop an unhealthy attachment to your motorcycle.

It's a solid game and I had a lot of fun with it, but it's not something I'd pay 500 bucks to play.

I should add in that I'm interested in playing the God of War library. Never played any of them, but I've watched everything about all of them.

That doesn't help you in the cost department, as most of the God of War titles, are only playable on PS5 through streaming on the PS+ premium membership which is a salty 159.99 per year and grants access to the classics catalogue.

God of War 3 (ps4 remaster) I think is the only one that's actually compatible with PS5 without a premium sub.

God of War, God of War 2, God of War Ascension, these all require the sub to access.

The newer titles, God of War 2018, and Ragnarok can be played normally.

I'm an old head and prefer the psychotic rage fuelled murder beast that Kratos was in the OG series as opposed to awkward dad who is trying to trademark the word "Boy".

They're really good games, but for 160 bucks I'd want to own them, not just have permission to play for a year.

I finally dumped the PS+ subscription. Of all of the games you get for "free" over the years I think I played maybe 2 or 3 of them and these days I only play free to play games anyways (path of exile and world of tanks) so you don't need ps plus to play online with those. Never was worth it for me except the few months I played some call of duty and ark survival.

I'm hoping for a Turkey Day sale on Steam for this one to get me through the winter. I've heard nothing but good things. Haven't played the original. Would you say it's essential to RDR2?

Not really essential but I would highly recommend playing the first one.

I played the shit out of the first one and was one of the few games I ever tried to get all of the trophies for. I played about half of RDR2 but lost interest and I keep thinking about starting over and playing it again and finish it this time but I never actually do it.

Agreed. It’s such a fun game.

Discovering your first horde early in the game when you’ve only got a pistol and fire axe in your inventory is a pants-shitting moment, as is running out of gas at night lol

Verne: The Shape of Fantasy.

A fun little 6-7 hour adventure game. If you like Jules Verne's novels you'll LOVE IT. It's very Meta. Puzzles are mostly simple. Voice acting is decent. Engaging scenery.

I would wait til it's on sale. You can probably get it for $5.

I'm craving more Jules Verne content so I'm probably going to play Diluvion soon.

Definitely not essential.

Playing 2 first actually makes sense, since it’s a prequel.

Is anyone playing Blue Prince? It just showed up on X-Box Live. It's a puzzle game and looked interesting so I downloaded it. I've played a few hours and it's a lot of fun. Check it out if you are interested in this type of game.

Just played the Cosmic Fear Demo.

Creepy as hell and impressive graphics. Made me want the full game ASAP. Apparently it's the third part of a trilogy, and you can pick up The Land of Pain and The Alien Cube for dirt cheap ($6.38) right now.

They are short but 8 hours of content for that price can't be beat.

I'm a few more hours into this and I'm hooked. I haven't come close to beating it yet but have discovered a bunch of new stuff that will be helpful in the future.

No one else has checked this out? It's pretty amazing.

I played for about 20 minutes. Is the goal to figure out patterns of rooms to put down that open a path to the end? I didn't get too much into it, but I'll try some more today.

What's up Buck? I didn't know you were still around.

That's the basic premise. You have a 5 x 9 grid that you have to completely fill before you can get access to the elusive 46th room. There is quite a bit of strategy and you are limited to a set number of steps for each round. Each time you enter a room, you lose a step. If you run out of steps, or reach a dead end on all possible routes, then you are done for the day. The grid resets and you have to start over. There are some upgrades to rooms that will carry over to the next day, but the grid is always completely wiped.

There is quite a bit to learn from each "day" you play it that will help you on subsequent days. There are ways to gain steps and likewise, some rooms take steps away.

It's really well done and quite challenging. I'm on day 12 and haven't come close to winning yet.

Is there a maximum number of days or does it let you play as long as you need to beat it?

Play as long as it takes. You'll want to take notes as you progress. Some info is revealed that you can use in later attempts.
