I can see Buffer as I read this

On another note, bail was set at only $2,500. I assume Jon Jones will be out soon, which is good because I don't know if anyone else is willing to feed and take care of his weird exotic cat. |
The UFC must be stoked about these Baltimore riots.
|
Anthony Johnson just said he will not fight unless its for the title. He's willing to fight anyone at 187, but only for the title. He also said that if they don't strip Jon Jones, then he's willing to wait over a year if he has to.
He's not an idiot, he knows what he's doing. I already think its very likely that they will strip Jon Jones, but this makes it even more likely because if they don't, then not only do they lose JBJ, they also lose one of their brightest young stars for a year as well. |

Also, let's not call Anthony Johnson a young star. The dude is 31, and this is his second stint in the UFC.

Oh hey, non-JBJ news.
The UFC signed the Invicta Atomweight champion. Michelle Waterson will fight at strawweight in the UFC. |

I'm starting to think, maybe, a little bit, that the UFC may try to weasel their way through this.
Before, I thought it was like 0.3% chance JBJ would fight in UFC 187. Now I think it might be 5-10% |
Quote:

Step 1: Talk to JBJ and his lawyer, tell them to shut the **** up until further notice and turn himself in right now.
Step 2: Fly to NM Step 3: Talk to the DA, figure out if they are really going to pursue felony charges. (If so, then he can't fight, they don't want their reigning champion fresh off another victory to be sent to prison) If not, if its just a fine and community service, then we're good, proceed to Step 4 Step 4: Get the heartfelt apologies ready, rehearse it, make it look good. Get UFC statement and speeches ready, get it all over with before MayPac. Step 5: Hopefully MayPac and the passage of time makes everyone forget Step 6: Profit. Oh God, yes, profit. |

STRIPPED!!!
SUSPENDED!!! DC vs Rumble, UFC 187 |
"Daniel Cormier is beyond pumped to get this opportunity."

The only way he is champ is if he gets lucky against Rumble. |

I like Jones. I don't give a **** about the outside shit. He's a ****ing UFC fighter, not a politician, clergyman, etc |
As a fight fan I was getting a bit bummed out, and 187 is still not as good as it could have been. Setting morality aside and just looking at the sport, Rumble and JBJ would have been a good fight.
However, DC vs Rumble for the vacant LHW championship is also pretty good, and I'm now much happier to buy the card than I would have been if they had just lost the LHW title fight altogether. |
Quote:
Also, I'll admit I've only seen a bit of Rumble since he's been back in the UFC and fighting at LHW, but in his first stint, fighters like Cormier are the exact kind of fighters he struggled with. We'll see. |

As soon as Jones' lawyer negotiates a probation plea bargain, he'll be reinstated.
Then he'll get the belt again. |

Until he actually loses a fight (the DQ does not count), I do believe that JBJ is the best LHW fighter at least until he finally loses to someone. DC vs Rumble will be entertaining though, and Jones needs to learn to not be an immature assclown.
|
I think he'll be out for at least 6 months.
|
Now we know what the comments by Dana and Jones were about. They weren't trying to weasel out of anything, they just wanted to pre-emptively answer the angry insane people who wanted the UFC to CUT Jones instead of suspending him.

Interesting quotes from an article by Kevin Iole:

Apparently right after news broke a couple days ago that Jones might be in trouble, DC immediately started blowing up Dana and Lorenzo's phones, letting them know he was ready and asking for the shot if they needed him.

I was wrong, the silver suv with the busted front end was his.
But still. |

Khabib Nurmagomedov got hurt training for his fight with Cowboy, and he is out of 187
|
Yep, just looked it up and he trains at AKA. Figures.
The American Kickboxing Academy is infamous for still being in the stone ages for MMA. Most gyms are beginning to realize that it is stupid to train too hard for fights to the point where you get hurt too often. |

This season of The Ultimate Fighter has really started off well...two great fights to begin the season and American Top Team v. Blackzilians is off and running. Those two owners hhhhhate each other.
It's a nice change of pace from the vagina-fest they'd been doing the last 2-3 seasons. |
The UFC finally made it official, Khabib is out.
https://pbs.twimg.com/media/CD32su-UkAIfsW1.jpg So..... Clearly the UFC wants Cowboy to get the next title shot, but Cowboy still wants to be paid next month, so here, we'll throw this guy at ya |
So I was never a big watcher of Pride early on...I have Fight Pass now so what are some of the best or go to Pride shows???
|
Watching Final Conflict Absolute...Wand is juiced to the gills lol...man Cro Cop was a frickin killer.

Speaking of which, there are a few good fights out of Australia tomorrow night, but they are all only on fight pass.

Hunt vs wand |

Critical Countdown 2004 is one of their best shows. Shockwave 2004 has some good fights. Final Conflict 2003 and Pride 13 are pretty good. Pride 17 is Cro Cop's debut show. The Bushido shows were OK but hit and miss. The Team Japan vs Brazilian Top Team was a cool concept. |
Yeah I was never a fan of most of the bushido shows.
Hit and miss is the perfect term. I'll go downstairs at some point and look through my old pride tapes and give you some good ones to find and watch |
Go watch you a little Wand-Rampage from the Pride days. Fair warning, for a split second it's going to look like Rampage died in one of the fights.
http://images.tapatalk-cdn.com/15/05...25bb8664cc.jpg Also, it's not going to be as intense to a viewer that wasn't watching regularly in those days, but the pre fight staredown between Wand and Cro Cop was ****ing insane. It's rumored that grown men around the world wet their pants watching it. |
Yep, rampage rushed and wand hit him and just stepped out of the way, rampage just hung and bounced on the ropes lol.
my love for you knows no bounds, Mr. Flybonemctimmerson. The more I learn about you the more my love grows. |
Pride was the greatest.
Stomp on a suckers head? Legal. Oh yeah |

The undercard for this Australian Fight Night on Fightpass has been pretty awesome so far.
Sam Alvey probably made some money tonight, he looks pretty marketable. Came in with a sponsor spray-tanned on his chest, hammed it up to the crowd, and knocked out his opponent in less than a minute. |
Canelo is destroying some dude on HBO right now.
|
Jesus Christ. That was ****ing savagery.
|
Tomato Can. HBO needs another guy to promote as their guy. Would love a Canelo vs Pacquiao fight next year.
|
Damn. Japanese dude was knocked out dead with that head kick
|
Fox made a very big mistake by not putting this at least on FS1. This random Australian card has been terrific so far.
|
ANOTHER KNOCKOUT!
Wow! Its a freaking crime that this card is not on TV. |
...aaaaand another knockout.
Holy ****ing Shit. This is one of the greatest fight cards I've seen in quite a while. |
oh, and now we are finally getting ready for the main event. Mark Hunt hasn't even begun throwing leather yet.
|
Walkouts now
I hope Hunt and Miocic has some epic 5-round slugfest just so that we can say that one of the greatest modern-era UFC cards ever was not even ****ing televised or offered for PPV in the USA. |
Oh God, Hunt won't win this, but what a warrior he is
|
The ref needs to forget about flag and country, Hunt is a warrior, but at this point he is now taking unnecessary brain damage.
|
Miocic has battered Hunt so much, that even he is exhausted from the whoopin' he's laying down on Hunt.
And the bell sounds. We're gonna have a round 5. Wow. |
Hunt's left eye is closed. They should stop it
