Manning had to wear gloves due to neurological issues after multiple neck surgeries.

I'm sure Glass Joe is fine, though.

Seems like the Bengals should want to get this done with 2 cheap years left on the rookie contract. Pretty weird that the owner wants to wait until next year.

They are probably just waiting to see if Burrow survives the season. If his wrist/hand falls off they’ll just trade everyone and start over.

Their owner doesn't have the competitive fire any of the players do. He'd take an L in KC 100/100 before giving anyone a nickel more than he has to.

$65 million for Burrow this year. Owner might be wanting to wait until Burrow’s cash drops to $30 million next year, which could make it easier for the owner to deal with Ja’Marr Chase.

Nah. Only because they wouldn't have him out there if he was in any discomfort.

Most non-Bengals fans won't care about this next bit so you can just check out right here. For those interested, read on.

That whole thing with Rapien and Pike reporting yesterday was a big nothingburger. So Burrow flexed his hand and looked at it. Duh, he had surgery on it a few months ago and he's been throwing a football every day for the last couple weeks. He's only sat out 1 practice in the entire training camp. Every practice he throws the equivalent of an NFL game, several times a week. People took what they said and blew it way out of proportion.

The glove was used between plays to create a littel moisture on his hand (sweat) because it was a very dry, windy day and he was back out there today in a joint practice with the Colts, throwing and acting just fine. He's done the thing with the glove before (between plays), but no one wants to hear that.

All that bullshit (see: Stephania Bell) about the cumulative effect as games wear on is Captain Obvious shit and it's all speculative as there's no precedence with a QB. He had surgery on a hand ligament, of course there's going to be concern as the throws build up and he has to brace himself every time he goes to the ground. What negates that is the suregeon that fixed his hand has cleared him to play QB in the NFL. The doctors/training staff on the Bengals have cleared him to play QB in the NFL. The coaching staff has cleared him to practice every day but one during training camp.

Every single person involved in his rehab and his every day activity will be monitoring to see if/how much discomfort he has on a daily basis and adjust his work accordingly.

And lastly (finally, right?) Burrow has already said he's at the point in his career where he listens to his body more than he used to, and doesn't try and push through tweaks and strains like he did when he was younger. He knows, more than anyone, he's missed big parts of 2 of his 4 seasons so he needs to be careful not to screw his wrist up.

There's always a chance he could screw his wrist up...or any part of his body for that matter, at any point in time. Just like any other NFL player.

My best guess is the Bengals finish second in their division this year. A dangerous-ish wild card because they have a QB. Unless Chase really does hold out then they finish third. Maybe fourth.

I know we like to create bulletin board material but none of the words we've used against Cincinnati have ever come from Burrow himself. He himself has been class act when asked about the Chiefs or comparisons to Patrick. He went on Kelce's podcast in Ohio. He throws a few good natured competitive jabs at us during the right times. Largely, my dislike of him has waned quite a bit. He's just in a town that has been without a lot of Super Bowl success for a large amount of years, just like us prior to 2019. This can all change with a few bad incidents but I've had decent interactions with Cinci fans at Arrowhead.

Clips like this are a little annoying. All we really can see is that Burrow threw a pass to Higgins; we can't see the route or the timing or anything of value, really. I can guess that it was a timing route, and it seems like it was a well-timed and placed pass, but I don't know that for certain. Just would be nice to get a wider view, so we could see the entire play.

The only thing you really need to take from that is, it was the day after the silly "report" and he snapped that ball off just fine in just the right spot. That's not something he does if he's having trouble with the wrist.

Guys like Pasta aren't smart enough and don't have the eye for details like that.

Wow. I would have thought Mike Brown is exactly the type of owner who needs a major cash infusion from the Wall Street guys. Bizarre choice for him to reject this idea.

I was going to ask how the Brown family stacks up in cash versus the league average for an owner. Even Clark, whose franchise ranks second in value behind the Wallyworld Donkeys, would jump on this deal in a second, because he'd be dumb not to.

I'll admit I chuckled at reading this from the article -

Quote:

According to Pro Football Network, the Browns own 97% of the Bengals and have been the majority controlling owners since 1993.
Cleveland finally has something to celebrate!

31) Mike Brown, Cincinnati Bengals
Mike Brown’s father, Paul Brown, was the original coach of the Cleveland Browns and the founder of the Cincinnati Bengals in 1968. Mike took control of the Bengals after his father passed away in August 1991.

Brown has spent most of his adult life working within the organization. He’s not currently listed on the Real-Time Billionaires List. However, in 2015, Forbes estimated that his net worth is $925 million.

Net worth: $925 million

Mike Brown is an idiot.

Brown remembers when tennis shoes were for the gym only. So he is progressing nicely

nychief 09-03-2024 06:32 AM

Chase is doing what Jones did. He'll take the week off, make a spectacle of himself - then return against us week two.

And no...the Bangles don't need Chase to beat the sorry ass Patriots.

The bungles have a history of starting off slow. I wouldn't be shocked if the pats pull off the upset.

Higgins isn't practicing today.

wazu 09-06-2024 10:14 AM

There's a very good chance the Bengals will be the only team that wins in the AFC North this weekend. They get a free "better than a bye" week against the Patriots. Steelers have what would seem like a tough matchup with the Falcons, and the Browns are playing the Cowboys.

I don't know if "better than a bye" exists when your qb is made of glass.
