Playing through Witcher 3 again for shits and giggles and it always takes me a bit by surprise just how ****ing miserable Velen is. I get that's what they were going for but my God.

Funny enough, though, I have stuck with the Northern Realms deck the whole time and that’s worked out well. I entered that Gwent tournament and actually won the whole thing. Up until yesterday I hadn’t lost a single match since the Bloody Baron (and I have been playing a LOT of Gwent).

.. and then I found this random blacksmith in Skellige with a raw deck. He has my card. Literally a Geralt of Rivia card (Roach too) lol I’m like “How tf you get this, buddy? I don’t even have this!” Anyway, he beat me twice in a row before I finally took him down. Thought that was funny.

Oh yeah, Northern Realms is by far the most straightforward deck to use. Scoiatel and Monster are both completely worthless and Nilfgaard needs to be played a certain way to be more effective than Northern Realms. Same as the 5th deck from Blood and Wine.

Hopefully this doesn't disappoint like the last Mass Effect game. I guess Drew Karpyshyn is writing the story or parts of it. Famous for Mass Effect 1,2 and Star Wars Knights of The Old Republic.

I get that Andromeda was a lot different from the previous entries and for that reason, I don't think it got a fair shot from the community.

I enjoyed it quite a bit.

Still the story doesn't compare to ME1 or ME2, but it was decent.

For me it was the gameplay. Gunplay was best in ME2 and ME 3. But playing a biotic or tech/biotic hybrid was a lot more fun than in the trilogy, at least for me. It's felt like you had so many more options because of the open skill trees.

OH I get that but I also thought the locations/level designs and maps weren't as good. I did play ME Andromeda multiplayer which was kind of fun but meh the maps were no where near as good. If you weren't that interested in Story but gameplay Outriders had some fun stolen Mass Effect skills like Biotic Charge.

Yeah, Andromeda didn't need to be open world. The level designs in ME2/3 were perfect.

As of this week, College Football 2025 is the best selling sports game ever.

I still think Super Mega Baseball 3 is the best sports game ever made but then again EA hates PC players. It's up there with Tecmo Bowl for me.

I played 3 nonstop.

4 was just meh. It just wasn’t as fun for me.

The mechanics changed a bit (hitting in particular) and it just never clicked for me.

I haven't played 4 yet but I did buy it on sale here recently. It was 3 or 4 dollars I couldn't pass it up, I hate that EA killed the franchise though and don't expect it to do much at this point.

Gwent was super addicting for just a simple side game. Basicly once you get your spy cards to thin your deck and ensure you draw all your heavy hitter hero cards, you just thrash everyone. The ability to draw two cards at the price of playing your spy on the other side for a few points is ridiculously op.

Thaler, Stennis, Mysterious Elf, and Dyjkstra are the ones I have for Northern Realms.

It's nice to keep a decoy or two as well in case the opponent plays a spy, you can play it back. Alternatively, you can carry some resurrect cards, and resurrect spies from your graveyard in a future round to play back on them as well for hilarious card advantage.

Speaking of Witcher 3, is there anyway to show all inactive quests on your map?

It’s frustrating to go to an area and realize later that you had an inactive quest there, then you’ve gotta fast travel back to the nearest point, ride out, clear the marker, etc. It’s a time suck that I don’t like.

this is the first year I didn't renew my PS+. It's definitely not worth it for me anymore. The only online multiplayer games that I play are free to play and you don't need it for that. It only seems to go on sale a couple times per year, black friday and probably some other time in the summer or something. not sure if retail stores ever have it on sale.

The idea if this sounds great but I worry it'll end up a half-assed project that won't get the funding/time/resources it needs and just makes a few bucks off the name before fading away.

Hope I'm wrong. I'd love to play a well made survival game in this world.

A vampire game similar to Witcher 3 made by former W3 devs. The only thing that I don't like so far is that the game has a clock. There's no way to actually "finish" the side quests.

I was reading stuff about DOOM The Dark Ages. It looks REALLY good.

Doom does look really good, haven't seen a great 3d shooter in a long while.

According to the hype machine, it's less of a shooter than past entries.

The devs have described it as "standing toe to toe" with the hordes.

In todays gaming culture even if it was great no one would be satisfied. I don't know how they can live up to the hype tbh.

Well the part I don't get is where is the coop part? I mean Doom 1 and 2 had full campaign coop back in the 90s.

Think Gears of War.

My best memories were playing coop and making deathmatch maps for me and my buds. I had a ton of fun doing Doom 1 and 2 as well as Quake with my friends.

At this time, Doom: The Dark Ages is single player campaign only. I really hope they add multiplayer later, but I don't expect it.

Doom 2016 had an amazing multiplayer mode. Including SnapMap that allowed you to design your own deathmatch levels. But it was actually not developed by id games who did the campaign. But I was a huge fan, and still play some Doom 2016 multiplayer to this day.

The follow up Doom: Eternal didn't have deathmatch multiplayer mode, but instead created a new mode called Horde mode. Which was a 3 player match, with 1 player being the Slayer, and the other 2 being a selection of different demons. It sucked hard, and nobody liked it.

Quake 2 was recently remastered, and has a cross platform deathmatch multiplayer mode that still sees quite a bit of action. Been playing that now and then. I still have some very fond memories of playing some big multiplayer CTF matches with a dozen other people. Everybody using the grappling hook to fly around the maps. Good times.

So who's getting Civ 7?

I'm gonna keep my eye on it, but I just have a feeling that it might be worth waiting for a sale. AAA games aren't exactly made with much love these days with a few exceptions. The 5 days early access to a single player game for an extra $20 or 30 is a red flag IMO.

I guess the 5 days will give me time to watch a few reviews. I do not value the early access reviews, they are most likely just shilling.

I have to admit it looks cool but I'm not sure I'm $70 invested in it. I'll wait and see what happens, I've tried quite a few civ games with friends and they all seem about the same. This one looks quite a bit better, like they overhauled the graphics and such.

I liked Civ 6, but I wasn't that into it. I'll probably pass on Civ 7. I just saw their road map and it looks like they are doing the thing where they remove parts of the game and then sell it a month after release as DLC. I'll just wait a few years until it's all packaged together and buy it on sale or something.

If my buddy allows me I will do the same, but if he wants to play it right away I might have to become superfan and rob a bank! :)

I beat The Witcher 3 the other day. Amazing game.

I had never played any of the previous Witchers or anything so I was piecing together the story as I went. It seemed good enough to me.

Only issues I had with it:

1. I mentioned the problem with inactive quest markers being absent from the world map. Need that. It would have cluttered up the map, but at least having the option to toggle it on/off would have been nice.

2. Having to play as Ciri. Idk whyyyyyy game developers always do that. I didn’t spend 30 hours playing with ‘main character’, maxing out his stats, and customizing his gear for you to make me play as someone else!

3. The controls for the horse were absolute garbage. It was so bad that anything within 500 units was worth it to me to just run instead of ride.

4. Gear that’s locked by higher levels. Disincentivizes exploration. Why bother running across the map, raiding caves and other points of interests when you may not even be able to wear the sweet new gear you just found?
