I didn't mean that MU ****ed up the Big 10. I don't think the Big 10 deal was ever real. Just some people talking about scenarios and then all of a sudden the MU brass started publicly talking about it.
The Big 12 didn't like this. From there the Big 12 was shown to be weak and others have since moved in to take it apart. I'm not saying this wasn't inevitable. I'm still not so sure why MU thinks it had it so bad in the Big 12. Their football program is much better than what it was. I just think their heads got waaay too big. KU, KSU, etc have sat by the whole time trying to find solutions and that has been proven to be the right thing to do. I still want the Big 12 to stay together and we plug in a school for Colorado (they sucked at sports anyway) and do it again if Neb leaves. Turns out Kansas has been on top of this the whole time. It's now coming out that T Boone Pickens and the Sooners really don't want to go anywhere. The realization of having to play in a PAC-10 that is now heavily tarnished by USC is not so appealing. Texas will stay and I think we're a lot further from these 16 team superconferences then people think. But who knows, just another theory |

looks like TU may be cutting all it's texas barnacle schools loose. Which is funny because Texas will lose all it's ballot stuffers in it's new conference and a lot of it's power. |

oh, sorry to disappoint you.

THAT is a BCS conference? Really? |

I think Florida, Kansas, Kansas St, Nebraska and Missouri are all very comparable schools and each has their own strength. |

This post is beyond reeruned. The term "jayhawk" actually has historical significance and stands for something, unlike the generic "wildcart". This argument is silly, but it sure did expose you as a ****ing reerun. :) |

DALLAS, Tex -- A highly-placed source tells KCTV5 that the head of a television network has again told Big 12 officials they would like to form a Big 12-Pac-10 Network and that the conference's next television deal is lucrative enough to keep remaining Big 12 teams together. Big 12 commissioner Dan Beebe is using the potential contract to try and urge the remaining universities in the conference to stay together. Oklahoma Athletic Director Joe Castiglione told the Oklahoma City Daily Oklahoman, "We have a very, very strong sense from our television partners that the revenue stream would be very, very good going forward. Better than where we are today.” The current Big 12 television contract is a seven-year contract through 2016 with ABC that pays them $480 million, and the Fox Sports Network contract pays them $78 million and ends in 2012. In 2008, the SEC signed a 12-year, $2.25 billion deal with ESPN/ABC and has a 15-year, $825 million agreement with CBS. Each SEC's school reportedly receives around $15-17 million per year from the television contracts. Th Big Ten has a 10-year, $1 billion deal with ESPN/ABC and a 25-year, $2.8 billion deal with the Big Ten Network. Fox Sports owns a 49 percent stake in the Big Ten network and would likely want a similar deal with the Big 12 and Pac-10, KCTV5's sources said. |

I like that Boise State is headed to Mountain West. It's not a power conference, but it's a HUGE upgrade from the puny conference they were in. Maybe now, they will get a shot at the big game and they deserve it. Or is our President going to get us a playoff? Or how is that working now? Are they gonna start having playoffs next year? I know there was something about it, but I forgot.

Thought is that other schools have contacted the big 10 about joining. Maybe Nebraska has moved on down the list. |

All I'v ever said was that MU was not going to the Big 10 and Texas was not going to the Pac 10. I stick to that. Are you a Neb guy? Getting nervous? |

Why would I be getting nervous?

no matter how many scream about what a marketing powerhouse ND is ... their football program is slowly dying and needs to be in a conference to rejuvenate it. Join now or join later ... it's gotta happen eventually. |

what ... Nebraska is just too good to be nervous? Puhhhhhleeze. |

The only believable scenario I can think of, given recent rumors, is that a TV exec walks in with staggeringly huge bags of money, dumps it on Nebraska's desk, and says "there's more where that came from if you dont go to the Big 10", and Nebraska says "Well... all right, then". |

That school has much more of a Pac 10 feel (a million titles in sports no one else plays....ala skiing) |

I REALLY wanted the Huskers to win that game, and it was a ****ing theft. |

But if these talks of a huge PAC-10 / Big 12 TV deal is real and ND has decided it wants more time to decide then I can def see Neb not making any major announcement today. |

if Nebraska doesn't announce a move to the B10 today, it's probably dead for now. and look for Texass and ND to join up.
in the end, if Texass leaves the B12, it will be for the B10. the Pac11ish makes no sense from a financial / power standpoint. none. |
