maybe those players werent "higher graded" by the chiefs.

I'd like to take Cadogan, Shipley, Beckwith, or Ellerbe in round 6.

I think this is an awful way to approach the draft. Taking the best player at the top of the ESPN draft magazine ranking is what bad teams do.

mylittlepony 04-26-2009 01:40 PM

So are the cheifs looking to take that Western Mis. guard Roger Allan and what about that NFL style QB Chase Patton that was pushed to the side at Mizzou?

Maybe the Raiders had DHB as the #1 player in the draft that doesn't make it any less stupid that they took him 7th.

I actually think it shows the opposite which is confidence or arrogance. They had the pick of the litter and they chose someone kind of off the board and they think he can come in and play.

That's the whole problem. You guys go by where guys are "projected"

Since you don't know enough on your own you rely on "projections" that are giving to you by your football magazines and by media "experts" while you eat your cheetos.

Professionals pick "their guy" because that's who they believe who the best player to pick is. Since they know what they are doing they are confident in their choices. Its their nuts on the line not yours. If they fail they lose their jobs. If they succeed they win Super Bowls. If you are right you can still live with your mother. If you are wrong you still live with mom. Get the difference?

The "Projections" didn't come down on tablets from God.

Joe Draftmaster's mock draft rankings should never be confused with where players are actually rated on NFL draft boards. That's why Tyson Jackson goes 3 and DHB goes 7. Because their real value to teams were not what people on the outside looking in thought they were.

And seriously, we're talking about a 5th round pick here. It's not like we're Oakland taking a safety nobody's heard of in the 2nd. And even Oakland had a reason for that, some justification that in their own mind was enough to pull the trigger.

If the guy's our starting right tackle in 2010, we're not going to care a whit that we took him in the 5th instead of the 7th, and if he's a good one, we're going to end up calling it things like "a great pick" and "a real steal".

Is goof a term of endearment?

He has experience on both sides of the line, his best role is going to be as a strong side end opposite of a pass rusher. He's a pretty average pass rusher himself but he defends the run and tackles very well.

He'll be a solid but unspectacular player and do whats asked of him.
