And then there's this.

Responding to media inquiries after Wednesday’s announcement that Texas A&M has told the Big 12 Conference it plans to leave the league by July 2012, BYU officials reiterated that they are happy with the course the school has taken in regards to football independence and its affiliation with the West Coast Conference for other sports.

However, The Salt Lake Tribune has learned that BYU officials have had discussions with Big 12 officials within the past week regarding the school’s interest in joining the conference, and what conditions and assurances it would need to make the jump exactly a year after announcing they were breaking away from the Mountain West Conference.

Fueling the frenzy was the fact that a private jet left Addison Airport, near Big 12 headquarters north of Dallas, early Wednesday morning and landed at the Provo airport at 8:35 a.m. MDT, according to a website that tracks flights, flightaware.com.

However, a Big 12 spokesperson said he was “not aware” of any Big 12 officials on the private aircraft owned by a Richardson, Texas, company known as Boca Air. Duff Tittle, associate athletic director for communications, declined to confirm or deny whether any league representatives were on campus.

West - KSU, KU, Nebraska, MU, Iowa, Iowa State, Minnesota, Illinois

East - Wisconsin, Michigan, Michigan State, Indiana, Purdue, Northwestern, Ohio State, Penn State

Possibly flip-flop Wisconsin/Illinois

What's not to like? Even though it won't probably happen.

Michigan and OH St will never be in the same division. ever.
not a bad scenario for Big 10 though (except may IA St...) it just won't happen. besides, there's room for only one block M in the Big 10! just as long as Notre Lame ain't involved. they'll never join with anybody and if they do I don't think Big 10 will ever accept them. they were asked to join Big 10 years ago and said no, so when this new reallignment came up, Joe Pa was very vocal about not letting ND in. He said they had their chance and they shouldn't be given another one. I doubt he's the only one that feels that way.

Yeah, right. They'd take ND in a heartbeat.

Mr. Laz 09-01-2011 11:30 AM

it would be funny if the super conference thing happens and Notre Lame gets screwed.

College sports would be better off if the golden dome gets crushed imo. :D

Bowser 09-01-2011 11:36 AM

You guys are going to get Pestilence up in arms.....

And if this trend continues towards mega confrences, I guarantee you that ND and BYU will jump on board with the conference of their choosing.

Notre Dame, Boise State, TCU, Cincinnati, Utah.... Those type of schools can probably fill out thier schedules playing the Super Conferences during the Super Conferences non-conference games.

Put Notre Dame in my Big 16 Scenario. Move Penn State to the ACC. Move Rutgers out. No problem!

Yeah.

Not real sure why everyone mentions a 16 team B1G - it's a 15 team conference until ND joins. They will absolutely leave that slot open for as long as it take ND to jump.

And if everyone else is sporting 16 teams, ND will absolutely jump.

yes, but they will get left out of a lot of stuff.

If the Super Conference were smart they would agree to schedule each other(ala Big 12/Pac 10) and squeeze out everyone not in their conferences.

It is what it is. Like I said, the other schools can go **** themselves. :D

If you're a K-State fan, you're probably one of those 'other' schools.

Just a warning.

Chiefs are my only "passion" team. I love college sports as well, and KSU belongs in the Major College Sports scene... IMO.

RustShack 09-01-2011 12:31 PM

Yeah too bad the Big12 isn't falling apart. ESPN, the Big12, and BYU are in talks right now. BYU will join the Big12. Pitt will be the next team followed by ND.
