Yes he plays his character well, but so could any 2nd year wrestling heel. Honestly take Rhea Ripley away from Dom and he would be like any other mid card guy.

Actually the Judgment Day would be more interesting if Priest and Ripley kicked out both Dom and Finn Balor and find someone who completes the heel group better.

Hard disagree on any wrestling heel being able to play that character, especially rookies. We've seen plenty of guys get the rocket strapped to them only to crash and burn miserably, and yet he's at the point he's got the most legit heel heat in wrestling right now. Now, granted, a lot of that stems from his program with his dad and without that he probably is still mired in the midcard. But that's the story of every wrestler ever.

Dom's problem is, he's not his dad. Rey Mysterio is frankly one of the best workers of all time and holding anyone to that is a bit much...shit when Mysterio was 17 he was a top 5 worker in North America...Dom will never be Rey and that's the issue.

Yeah but expecting him to be his Dad is only asking him to fail.

Sassy Squatch 07-24-2023 10:17 AM

That seems like all the more reason he'd hop to WWE for a stint. MJF is certainly talented enough to make the jump but he's not getting much more than straight to DVD shit from Warner Bros Discovery he'll need to prove himself on a bigger stage, unless he somehow steals the show as one of the secondary Von Erichs and makes an immaculate impression during the making of that movie.

Huh? Like, literally the first year and a half he's been on TV he's been involved directly in programs with his dad. Why would they give him a different name?

I meant if they could go back in time..they had him on TV before he was ready because of his name too.

Sassy Squatch 07-24-2023 10:28 AM

Why would they want to do that? He got a ton of experience being thrown into the fire like that and is currently one of the hottest heels in wrestling and has been for months.

The vast majority of people that I know don't hate him because he's a heel, they hated him when he was with his dad too...they literally just want him to go away.

Sassy Squatch 07-24-2023 10:32 AM

Nah. He has go away heat at first, but now it's legit heat.

I think WBD could get MJF started with something involving HBO.

Chitownchiefsfan 07-24-2023 11:07 AM

I've never understood the Term "Go away heat"

If youre getting heat you're getting heat. He's getting massive reactions and has been for a while. The only true "go away heat" imo is if the crowd is just apathetic.

It matters if no one gives a shit about you and they boo just because they want you to "go away"

There's a difference in someone wanting to see you lose and someone turning the channel.

I accidentally downvoted this and I didn't mean to.

But how can you really quantify that? If someone is getting boos they are getting boos. And we don't have the minute by minute ratings to see if they turning away.

If no-one gives a shit they should respond by not giving a shit. Either no response or chanting unrelated shit. Booing would give the complete opposite result of what they want.

Sassy Squatch 07-24-2023 11:13 AM

If you're a face and getting booed you're teetering on the edge of go away heat

Mecca 07-24-2023 11:21 AM

This is basically a study of Xpac, that dude had go away heat for years.

BryanBusby 07-24-2023 11:29 AM

XPac was special.

Between the old worn out gimmick, the lack of effort he gave, the terrible storylines and the product placement shit he would do.

Only thing I've seen close to it was John Cena at the ECW pape and earlier era Roman Reigns.

Sassy Squatch 07-24-2023 11:31 AM

Meh, every single top superstar barring Stone Cold had some form of go away heat at one point in time. It's the byproduct of being so overexposed

Stone Colds run didn't even last that long, it was just in the hottest period ever. Most guys overstay their welcome.

Right. He also got to work consistently with the best heel of all time over that relatively short time.

GloucesterChief 07-24-2023 11:34 AM

Dominik as the scummy and cringe pretend hardass is heel and comedic gold. Judgement Day is best when it sorta leans into the edgelord cringe.

Simply Red 07-24-2023 04:17 PM

Complete BS man, Jesus. This ruined or extremely limited his career. I love watching this dude perform. I never really saw much of him until recently. CP we've discussed wrestling much, but I'm getting back into it - so please understand there are numerous voids in my WWE knowledge but I'm getting back up on it. But yeah RVD would be one of my favorites that I'm 'just know' learning of and seeing.

That match w/ Edge and Cena in 2006 though!

But the below is just tragic and I'm genuinely shocked the cop would book him on that, seems so petty (even for 2006.)

No way. I usually just catch a couple of clips from the internet when the need to catch some wrasslin strikes my fancy. Both companies have MAJOR warts that make watching an entire show almost impossible

Sassy Squatch 07-24-2023 07:28 PM

I really hope WBD doesn't push AEW for a third hour of Dynamite if this writers strike doesn't resolve soon and they need the content to fill slots.

BryanBusby 07-24-2023 07:37 PM

I think it would be ok with the occasional special, or give RoH some TV time.

Highest rated segments on RAW and NXT. Second highest rated segment on Smackdown behind the Bloodline. He's doing his job as a heel and doing it incredibly well.

Again...and something you keep dodging...being with Rhea Ripley is really creating what heat he has.

Take him away from Ripley and he wouldn't be as hot as you believe he is.

Managers, valets, tag teams, and stables have been a thing since the 1950s in wrestling for a reason. Saying Dom doesn't have the same heat without Rhea or the Judgement Day as a whole really isn't the gotcha you think it is, it's just common sense if you've watched wrestling for any amount of time, and I'm a bit baffled you thought that was worth bringing up twice.

And I am baffled at why you think Dom has any real heat....

Valets and Managers don't really compare to the point you are trying to make....you actually make more sense with the Stable argument....making the comparison of DX. But even in that group...making Dom the equal of XPac would make my point.

When DX broke up...Hunter and Shawn Michael still had heat on their own. Even Road Dogg and Billy Gun could get heat.

XPac not so much.

Sassy Squatch 07-31-2023 10:12 AM

Except it's blatantly obvious who's drawing the heat and ratings. And it isn't Balor or Priest

Yeah, not sure what the thinking was there. Especially with CM Punk out, the decline and eventual failure of that show is essentially guaranteed self fulfilling prophecy now.

Sassy Squatch 09-06-2023 01:21 PM

Wonder when CM Punk shows up in WWE. Thinking it's only a matter of time, especially with Endeavor owning it now. They're on pretty good terms with him and the folks in WWE that probably aren't (HHH) will be moved far enough down the ladder it won't really matter.

I doubt anyone there really wants him to come back.

Sassy Squatch 09-06-2023 01:24 PM

That's too bad. Already confirmed he wanted back in even before this latest spat got him fired, and the folks making the decision like him enough to overrule. Especially considering he did prove himself as a legitimate ratings draw on Dynamite.

Depends on who wants him in. Hell, I remember FOX actually brought him on separately as a consultant for one of those goofy 'analysis' shows they did for a time. Could absolutely see them asking to have him on Smackdown.

Eh. He supposedly has a pretty good relationship with Endeavor since they negotiated already in the past and he's a legitimate draw. Unless his asks are just unreasonable, I'd probably put it as more likely than not he's eventually brought in.
