I worded that wrong. Wanting to be paid what you are worth shouldn't be considered greedy. If you wanna be technical about it, then you could call everyone making more than $500,000/yr greedy. It's an intense desire to be paid more than what is needed.

Who says that he's worth $30M? His agent? Apparently not the Chiefs. Aaron Donald wasn't worth what he got paid, but the Rams are stupid and overpaid. Now Jones and his agent have an opinion that Jones should get stupid money too. That may be their opinion, but that doesn't mean that's what he's worth. That price is 1/7 of the cap. My opinion is, he isn't worth that much of the cap. I'm not the one paying him, but it appears that the Chiefs front office doesn't think that he's worth that either. So, it sounds like he's being greedy to me.

How much effort do you think will actually go into this season if a new deal isn't signed?

I wouldn't expect seeing 100% of what we are used to seeing from CJ

So you think he’ll dog it this season and tank his future market value to spite a franchise that drafted him, took good care of him financially, and got him 2 rings?

I haven’t seen any signs during his career which would indicate that he’s profoundly stupid, so I doubt that’s the course of action he takes.

It would be interesting to know how far apart bart and cj are.

My guess would be that CJ wants 30 + and the Chiefs are pushing for 27, 28 3 year deal.

Rams gave Donald that money cause he was gonna retire and they could have thought it was a good chance of being a 1 year contract with him retiring…..well Donald didn’t retire and now you have players looking at his $31.66M yearly avg as some kind of measure for DTs.

1). Donald at $31.66M

2). Q. Williams at $24M
3). Simmons at $23.5M
4). Payne at $22.5M
5). Lawrence at $22.5M
6). Hargrave at $21M
7). L. Williams at $21M
8). Buckner at $21M
9). Chris Jones at $20M

Looks like the “norm” is elite guys that resets the DT market raise the average by $500k. With that in mind Jones should be a new contract worth $24.5M average. Donald’s $31.66M shouldn’t even be looked at.

Even if Veach wanted to award Jones and go beyond that $500K increase a $25M average should be good for both sides with the ONLY thing in discussion should be 3 year or 4 year extension.

Asking for $30M+ is ridiculous and Veach should trade his ass.

I think the Chiefs are looking at a 4 year deal with 3 legit and the 4th year to raise the average. Jones is looking at a 5 year deal withe 4 legit... Either way he signs by Wed/Thursday a missing the game next Sunday is over $1 million loss...

I think he should play out the last year of his contract at least, he did sign it afterall.

Hold out next year or whatever if they tag him, fine. But finish your current deal at least.

The Wizard out manuvered the Cheetah and is now conjuring up something stone cold for Chris Jones. Don't tread on Veach. :reaper:

Honestly, that's probably the sticking point.
