If it has a Prey feel it should be amazing. DLC hits September 30.

It’s got its warts etc but man it’s so mf fun. Especially once you learn pass protection concepts and coverages etc I went down a football 101 rabbit hole and I’ve been enjoying the **** out of it. It’s hard. And it’s great. It makes the moments when you call the right play and the defense plays the coverage you were expecting and you have pass pro set up and let it rip. So rewarding.

IMO of course

I agree but something is missing. Have had really great games with tuned sliders and play call limits. Dynasty not having things they had in 2014 is inexcusable. Not having an offline create a team is inexcusable. EA just doesn't get what the players want

They are hated for good reason, never seen a company consistently make bad decisions. It's not just recent either, they keep investing in games and most of them get cancelled. They tried so many times to get that BR money but only Fortnite and to a certain extent Apex have that market cornered. Division Heartland they invested what 5 years in? Only to cancel it at the last minute. Total dumpster fire which really sucks because the Division franchise despite the skeleton crew that continues to disappoint were some of the best games ever.

I just spent the last few months playing and replaying the Mass Effect trilogy. Can't believe I missed these games the first time around. Might be my favorite series ever. Anybody got any recommendations for something to play after that?

Not really, everything else will be lacking. RIP the Great Mass Effect days :(

Other games that are great(but different) you may have missed in my book are Prey and the Mooncrash DLC also Mirrors Edge but both are older Mirrors edge is much older.

If you like RPG, then BG3 is a must if you have not played it yet.

Where are the games? We barely got any true PS5 exclusives since launch. But it's fine. Im getting a better PC pretty soon. I'm more interested in older games at this point. Most of what I play on PS5 are remakes and remasters besides FromSoftware stuff.

Dude, trade in your existing PS5 to Game Stop and pay approx $385 for a PS5 Pro. Where are the games? They will come in time. Me, I will wait to see how the PS5 Pro performs to decide if the change is worth it or not. Not going to rush out there to do this until reviews say hell yes! Jump on board!

However, I will say this, I have been out of the PC game for a very, very long time. I will look into buying a top notch system built from ground up to replace the console. I have dear friends in the business that can point me in the right direction if said decision is made. We shall see. :thumb:

I'm good with my normal PS5 for now. Although that limited edition Anniversary PS5 Pro is sexy. That classic Playstation gray just does it for me. I'm definitely getting that controller since I need one anyway.

Is there a way for you to use any physical game disks you may have if you switch to the Pro? I bought an Xbox Series X mostly because it will likely be the last Xbox with a disk reader, and I have a shitload of games on disk.

The Pro has an optional detachable drive. It's the same as with the Slim.

I bought the 3 on steam and I'm only like 30 minutes into the first one. Forgot I had them.

Things look dire for them for sure, but I think you can point to a lot of other mistakes in their business which are hurting them (over-investing in dead-end projects like Skull and Bones, hyper-formulaic gameplay loops that consumers are tired of, overall quality decreases, etc.) that have absolutely nothing to do with politics or “DEI”.

nah, people are just getting a little tired of the wokeness when it's forced and if you look further into this you'll see why they are talking about this.

These companies hire college grads that actually believe that is what people want and I find that hilarious

you aren't wrong that there are youtubers that look for anything to make a video about, but this one had it's reasons

I saw that, you'd have to be the biggest dumb**** on earth to buy anything from them or try to fund any projects of theirs.

But I do find something interesting about this. People obviously want the type of game that they advertised with the day before or whatever it was called. They want to play a game like that, other companies had to have noticed that because it was one of the biggest wishlisted items I believe for steam. But nobody is willing to make games like that even though there is a strong market for it.

I feel the same way about knights, samurai, monks and Jedi. I have been reading about them since I was a kid. Despite that, I had never heard of Yasuke until 2020 or so. He is now a historical figure, supposedly. Thomas Lockley is the scholar that discovered the obscure historical records of a black man in Edo era Japan. there's no problem there. but I believe Lockley embellished some of that story to proclaim that Yasuke was a samurai, and was on the verge of becoming a feudal lord. nevermind that samurai is/was a inheritable title. Yasuke is a legend that fought with the strength of ten men and took 20 wives, according to Lockley. I recognize that as woke tripe because it involves race essentialism which is a component of critical race theory. and thats just one scholars opinion. Ubisoft isnt constrained by history in a game setting. The game is fantasy and further engages in the fetishization of a black man, a slave, then a hired hand, then a bodygaurd, samurai, vassal, general, lord.

it is all kind of silly and overhyped. I dont care much about the culture war/controversy. I posted that video to show that the controversy exists and it is hurting Ubisoft stock because they are picking a fight with their own already-shrinking-fanbase.

I don't think you're wrong that popular media focusing on non-white people is a lot more prevalent than it was 10 or even 5 years ago. But rather than an insidious social engineering scheme, as these types of creators like to imply, I suspect it's more "free-market reactions" changing, and media companies shifting to accommodate that to maximize their revenue.

There are times where that comes across as a little forced, I admit - studio executives forcing things into an existing script or setting, attempting to reach more consumers and generate more profit - but I think audiences (and ticket sales) usually react accordingly when the material feels inauthentic as a result.

Going with the samurai theme, Yasuke's story - however it might differ from true history - sounds pretty similar to plenty of other rags-to-riches samurai legends. The Shogun book & shows are a similar historical-fiction embellishment of a real non-Japanese historical figure in feudal Japan and those have been around for almost 50 years, and so I'm not sure I buy that it's "fetishization" just because the character is Black. Focusing on him rather than a native Japanese character (or even a white one, thanks to Shogun) gives the chance to do something that isn't just a repetition of other popular samurai games and movies that already exist, and I think audiences are more open to that than they used to be.

What annoys me about "influencers" like that guy is that they never really talk about the quality of the story, they just express outrage that it's not the same one they've already been told and were expecting. Everyone's entitled to their preferences, of course, but these assholes are just riding the coattails of political unrest to get clicks, and in the process are using the worst of cash-grab-diverse media to dissuade people from checking out other things that could be interesting or good. If good games or movies fail as a result, it's not a good thing for audiences.

Even if Ubisoft has to declare bankruptcy, they've got too many big IPs to just disappear. I'm guessing they will be an acquisition target soon.

Been playing Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom, been having fun with it. Exploration, bigger map than I thought it would be, takes elements from all the games so far it seems; Links Awakening for the art style, Link to the Past for the map, Wind Waker for the enemy design, Ocarina for some of the bosses, Breath of the Wild/Tears of the Kingdom for the crafting and item selection, but so far I've had fun using the echoes to reach new areas, it's pretty clever. So far I'd recommend it, haven't really gotten far in the storyline because I'm wondering around so much.

I was worried about Path of Exile when tencent bought them, but the developers stayed true to the west. But you can get all sorts of pay to win bullshit for the Chinese servers. Which I don't play on so it doesn't affect me.

Some of the things that China has made a lot of people here jealous, but it went against their creator's vision so it's been kept out of the west version.

It probably wouldn't be the same situation with ubisoft though, it would probably just be about milking their brand names.

Still Tom Clancy and China wouldn't mix well lolz

The TenCent/Ubisoft rumors have gotten so much traction that Ubi had to release a public statement. Stock is way up as a result.

My son is very excited, called me up to tell me. Been waiting since he was a kid to play it on PC.

I didnt watch the video but Buck and I went pretty hard on this for a few days, found myself pretty much maxed out after a week. Nothing left to do, so ill shelve it til next season.

People act like d4 has to be the best game ever. Its not, but is it a fun to blast through game every couple of months when new seasons hit? I think so. Ive played every seasons and got my moneys out of the game.

Am I being greedy by saying I'd settle for a 2.5 hour Diablo movie made of the same animation their cinematic cutscenes were made from?

I love the gameplay and wonder how you maxed everything out that fast? I guess I'm not caught up on what exactly to attack in what order but I find myself stuck at points in this game. Are you saying this is pretty much the Diablo 3 gameplay loop now?

That's a great point as I found myself loving the story mainly by just how great they do cinematics. It's hard to find a AAA game that does the cinematics the way blizzard does and specifically Diablo stuff.

Im an absolute beast first off.

Truly, its about being efficient in the activities you want to do. I cleared Tier 120 pits with ease, one shotting uber bosses, etc.

Could push farther and min max my way to doing tier 150s but whats the point?

What class/build are you using at 120? New one? I'm not starting a new character just leveling my sorc on the eternal realm. Just finished the campaign and got to about Pit 35 where I'm starting to get my arse handed to me. I have a lot of season 2 ubers which are IL 540 which is not good I guess.

Stryker 10-20-2024 09:44 PM

Next up for me is The Last of Us 2 remastered. Loved the first one now on to the second one. :thumb:

Im running Spirit born quill volley.

You need to be fully decked out with 750 ilevel legendary aspects with the right build to kind of 'start the end game'

kcgreene 10-22-2024 10:06 AM

I just started playing Metaphor: ReFantazio this weekend... Its a JRPG for those unaware. (And over half the people who read JRPG immediately left to do something else.)

Gotta say, The game is basically Persona 5 re-skinned in a fantasy world, but I'm enjoying the hell out of it so far (It uses a LOT of the same systems but calls them something else. Confidants are Followers, Personas are Archetypes, etc) Anyone that is a fan of the Persona games or RPGs I think would be really interested.

EDIT: Also, forgot to add, has a phenomenal soundtrack to it from what I've played so far. Great music.

I figured that and some of the aspects are just randomly dropped, also seems like uber uniques are about the same drop rate as they've been which is very low. I wonder how long Bliz will leave the Spiritborn OP?

They are but at a certain point i am burning an entire inventory of uniques every 3 minutes.

I have gotten 8 uber unique drops as well as crafting a couple. And thats really NOT that much gameplay, paragon 210 maybe. Just spammed uber bosses in a party with other people didnt even use my own mats

Is that through the new matchmaking or private team? I assume if you matchmake you will be expected to use your own mats? I've only had the time to play a little but will be playing it.

Just through the built in matchmaker, which isnt as nostalgic d2ish as i would like it to be, but gets the job done.

I have been looking for games with 'carry request' and 'have mats' and letting them provide mats, OR, doing the mat roulette with my own mats as I can. prob 90% of my runs have been other peoples mats.

I knew it would be trash and a waste of time since the announcement, I never liked the original games but this one is way worse from what I can tell.

I've been playing project zombies. It's older, but I just picked it up and am loving it. It's so detailed and difficult.

Man I loved the original games. And Inquisition was quite fun in its own way.

Yeah, this is where I'm at. The series has definitely been on a slow decline though.

I actually really enjoyed Andromeda. The first 3 were obviously timeless so I get people feeling let down. But the game wasnt bad standing on its own.

I tried to like it so much, played it about halfway through and just totally lost interest.

Still grinding away on Black Myth Wukong. Looks like it’s gonna take a bunch of my time when I actually play games.
