This was year 2 of 5 for Breaston.

He's scheduled to make $3.8m.

Oh hell, that's easy to deal with then. Yeah - we'll be glad to have him around in 2013, IMO.

McCluster and Wylie should fight it out for one roster spot in 2013.

I think Breaston will be fine under Reid.

still think we need more speed at WR though

I really like Breston's potential an a Reid offense. He could be a great fit as the #3 WR.

And if Tavon Austin ends up available in the 2nd, I'm on board with taking him now as I think he could be similar to DeSean Jackson.

.

Quote:

We’re told Breaston received $5 million to sign and a $700,000 base salary in 2011. His $1.8 million base salary in 2012 is guaranteed for injury only and he has a $1.3 million roster bonus in 2012. It appears the Chiefs could get out of this after one year and less than $6 million but I can’t envision a scenario with that happening.

In 2013, his base salary is $3.8 million, in 2014 it’s $3 million and in 2015 it’s $4.1 million. He has $200,000 workout bonuses from 2012-2015 and $1 million reporting bonuses in 2014 and 2015. He has another $500,000 in escalators available each year from 2012-2015.

40 times be damned, Tavon Austin is as fast in pads as anyone I've seen this season. He'd be an absolutely perfect deep threat alongside Bowe.

Bailey doesn't really impress me, to be honest. He looks like a Robert Woods type. Nothing about him jumps off the page to me.

Just think, next year at this time we will be looking forward to a playoff game. It's really hard to wrap your mind around that concept but I think I can get used to it. I know that KC has the best BBQ in the country but I hope there are some places that make good cheese steaks too because Andy will become comatose if he has to live without his cheese steaks. On the serious side I really like this move and give Clark credit for reviving the fan base.

Ron Rivera likely is staying in Carolina. Plus, the Chiefs want to get a staff in place immediately to start evaluating the roster and draft picks.

He's not giving the current staff any chance to interview for any spots. Reid is tearing it all down and building it from scratch.

I think I'd keep him for 2013 and 2014. If you can get 65 catches and 800 yards out of him for about $4 million/season, you're in pretty decent shape.

Then again, I don't think he'd get that much on the open market, so there's something to be said for not wanting to 'overpay' based on what the market will bear.

Then again, maybe he's finished. Hard to say.

$4 million if I read that right; he doesn't get the roster bonus in 2013 and has a reduced base salary in 2014.

2013: $3.8 million + 200K workout bonus = $4 million
2014: $3 million + 200K workout bonus + 1 mil roster bonus = $4.2 million.

That's reasonable, but again, with the likelihood that the market would only give him about half that, I could see him getting cut.

Coaches out there are Reid, Kelly, Gruden, McCoy, O'Brien, Marrone, Lovie Smith, Arians among others. It's very possible Horton gets left out.

Depends on how bad he wants Horton, I guess.

All reports say he's already put together an entire staff, and informed them he was making a decision this week. So Horton is extremely unlikely.
