come on already:

sine '08 vs non con ranked teams

No. 7 Oregon* W 26-17
No. 3 USC L 18-15
No. 3 Texas* L 24-21
at No. 1 USC L 35-3

I see only one glaring game, and that was the game at USC a couple years ago. Yeah, that team was loaded. They barely lost to USC and Texas in the other two. Oh noes!

Look, the Big 10 is no SEC. But Big 12 fans that think the Big 12 is by far and better than the Big 10 are mistaken. They are both good football conferences. The Big 10 is a much deeper conference than the Pac 10 even. Sure USC usually helps the Pac 10 out alot, but w/out USC that is a pretty shitty football conference. Except for last year, USC has easily been the best football team in the last decade and usually the Big 10 gets the unfortunate duty of playing them in their bowl game.

Oh well, it's not like Nebraska has beat a ranked team since...well...the 90s, so they'll fit right in.

Yep, 1995 was good for KU. Kinda odd that the final year of the Big 8 was one of its finest, IIRC 4 of the 8 teams finished in the top 10 that year.

So how many wins do you think Suh accounted for last year? I count about 4. Now that you don't have Suh, what does that leave you?

Yeah, they were all barely ranked though. We have some kind of streak going, I think it's no wins against a team ranked higher than 20th since 1999.

If you think Suh was the defense last year you are mistaken. This years defense has two first round picks. Plus Nebraskas secondary was the most underrated secondary last year with a walk on safety a converted Jr college linebacker. I predict PJ Smith will be better then Asante and O'Hanlon.

What? I think Suh was a special player but he wasn't the whole defense. If the Dtackles can get some penetration and I see no reason they can't the defense will be fine. The linebackers were young last year and sucked i'm hoping they get better this year with more experience.

Not talking about Suh. I keed I keed. Nebraska should do well this year. They have a schedule like KU had in 07. Things have really looked up for you guys since you stopped scheduling USC. You don't have to get shellacked anymore when your fanbase gets their hopes up

The D will be fine, I'm more worried about the offense.

Dude you guys should just have two coaches. Make Pelini your d coord, and bring back Callahan to run the offense. You guys were putting up points galore, just couldn't stop anybody. Now you can't score, and get beat by Iowa State when they can't even score a touchdown.

Oh yeah, KU beat UCLA by like 40 in the Aloha Bowl.

We've had some great seasons.

It's nice having a rich tradition in both major sports. Makes the falls and the winters fly on by.

I personally can't wait to find out where KU lands. SEC, Big East, etc... I only hope that KSU, MU and ISU are along for the ride. I'd like to keep the traditions going strong!

WTF? Now you're being absurd, I don't recall KU making a road trip to Washington or playing Texas that year.

Watson is the same OC from the Callahan days. You gotta take this into account Lee had only thrown two passes before last year and was injured most the year. Helu was hurt most the year and the SR Wr's were benched. That offense was relying on two freshmen RB's and Niles Paul.

Bugeater 06-11-2010 12:39 AM

BTW, Iowa State did score a touchdown in that game, the XP was blocked.

Really? KU destroyed UCLA in 95, and won a BCS Bowl about 10 years later.

You've got a strange definition of "intramural".

KU is traditionally one of the worse teams in BCS football. Sure they have had some better success in recent years. But year and and year out, we suck ass.

Your definition of tradition must be different than mine. I like you, your a KU homer, but I don't think you'll find more than a handful of KU fans who think KU has a good football tradition.

KU is 77th in winning % per division one teams all-time. They haven't won a conference championship since 1968. That isn't very good.

I think instead of squaring off with our respective "new" conferences we should all be unified in the fact that this really blows. The big 12 is dead. That sucks.

I joined because I think the Chiefs are finally going to be a decent for the first time in a decade.

And this thread has been one of the most informative, up to date places for info on this realignment business on the internet.

I'm not a troll.

I've got posts on www.themikefrancesa.com as (Talk to me in August) and www.kusports.com as (Wickedson). These can be my references.

Bambi 06-11-2010 07:36 AM

At least Gill's still landing some recruits.

Olathe North High junior Victor Simmons has committed to Kansas, according to Rivals.com.

Simmons, who will be a senior in 2010, helped lead Olathe North to the 2009 Class 6A state football title and played most of his snaps as the Eagles’ quarterback. In doing so, he rushed for 1,000 yards. However, most of the schools that recruited him see his future on defense. Simmons, 6-foot-1, 185 pounds, played some safety for O-North and finished 2009 with 25 tackles.

Simmons chose Kansas over Kansas State, Missouri and Nebraska.

Yep.

He's (1-8) if you hadn't noticed.

You'd be lucky to get 2-3 high ceiling A ball prospects now.

I've spent a lifetime trying to convince people that the players with the highest ceilings spend most of their time in A Ball. Guess you think AAA is where to go.

Obvious surface-level knowledge is obvious.

Why call a press conference to essentially say nothing? Couldn't they just release a written statement to the press or something?

MU officials announce the formation of the first "super-mini" conference comprised of KU, KST, ISU and MU. There will be a "west division" comprised of KU and KST and a "east division" comprised of ISU and MU. Football schedule will include 10 non conference games followed by division play (KU vs KST and MU vs ISU). Winners will advance to the "Mountain Dew Big 4" championship game with the winner advancing to the "Who gives a rats a**" bowl" held on Christmas day in Bismark ND.

DaKCMan AP 06-11-2010 08:58 AM

According to OUinsider, the SEC has given the incentive to Texas that if they join the SEC, Alabama would move to the East division.

don't worry everyone already knows you are a clown, you don't need the shoes to prove it.

I guess they wanted to make it clear that any notion we had that they had some great secret plan for success is completely unfounded.

Alden's handled this matter about as well as Pinkel coaches defense. Maybe he could take a cue from Perkins and GET THE **** OUT.

I would be surprised to see Texas seriously consider the SEC because of academic reasons.

I'd tell you off, but I wouldn't want to hurt anybody's feelings. :D

talked to people around the league and the consensus is that KU's basketball program is just too value for KU to not end up in a power BCS conference /Andy Katz
