The Big 12 will stay together as long as Texas and OU want it to.
As long as that's the case, it's the conference I'd rather be in as a Missouri fan. I think aTm is going to regret going SEC. They're trading one master (Texas) for one just as bad (Bama). Have fighting it out with Arkansas to see who the third-best team in your own division is every year. The Texas-independent stuff is overblown, IMO. What happens to all the Longhorns OTHER sports if football goes indy? Big 12 schools won't schedule them in hoops, baseball, etc. And those sports DO matter to the Texas athletic department. The Big 12 is a good setup for Texas, especially if the Longhorns can entice BYU (likely). Notre Dame is likely a pipe dream, but that would absolutely stabilize the Big 12 if it happened. BYU by itself is enough to keep things pretty stable. |
Do you really wanna lose to ND ever year. They wouldn't suck for long in the Big 12.
I could always find 1 or 2 reason not to kill my self after a loss to Texas. Life wouldn't be worth living after losing to ND. |

ND's Texas recruiting would improve some, but they still would be the farthest away, in the coldest climate, and with the fewest girls on campus. They still would have academic standards that would limit them. They still would have the honor code. They would be a new recruiting rivals, but I don't think they're going to roll in and take their pick of the litter. If aTm goes SEC and the Big 12 doesn't break up, it's going to hurt the Aggies' Texas recruiting. |

Texas is a huge base. It's top 10 but not top 5. Those spots still belong to OSU, ND, Bama, Florida, maybe Penn St or Michigan |
