“Another key takeaway from today’s pressers was #Chiefs GM Brett Veach talking about establishing an attitude on defense. Saying good players are obviously important, but has to be collective attitude. Said LB Anthony Hitchens is a “stud.” Will bring right attitude, leadership.” - BJ Kissel
Hitchens and Ragland are ass kickers. |
Yeah I was just getting ready to say that. They’re all about changing the attitude of the d from passive to ass kickers

The Titans players did. That sad assed wanna-be team believed. OURS DIDN'T. There's why you need a culture change... |

I think Hunt/Ware have a very good chance to lead the league in rushing. Hunt is the hardest tackle in the NFL right now and Ware is tough too. All they are ever going to see is 6-man boxes.

The defense does still feel a bit holey right now, but a cheap ish 2 down run stuffing nose would make quite a big difference. Then you draft safety, corner and bailey replacement on the DL and if you hit on 2 of 3 picks there the defense is looking promising.

Amerson has been told he will press at least 90% of the time. That tells you right there that they plan on turning up the heat. |

Sutton started playing off coverage because of Peters. That’s changing now

Notice most of the worst tacklers and no effort players are gone. I wonder why?

49ers signed Jerry Attachou.
I was hoping to get him. |

Still need a safety and some dl
Let’s do this |

Having Hill & Watkins on this team definately opens up the running game because it will draw safeties deep to prevent themselves from being victimized by the deep ball. I have confidence in both Hunt and Ware in that they could run all over opposing defenses with a 6 man box. Where I have my doubts is Andy Reid due to his imbalanced playcalling of favoring the pass more so than the run. The question is, are the Chiefs going to run the ball when the opposing defense dares them to? Are the running plays going to be called in a timely manner? Only Andy Reid can **** this up. And he probably will because Andy Reid lacks in game management skills and is senseless playcaller at times. We saw this last year in the Titans playoff game where Kareem Hunt barely got the ball in the second half. I know the Chiefs should’ve ran the ball to kill that clock to not only give their defense rest, but to prevent the Titans from having any momentum of coming back in the game. Not doing so with the league’s leading rusher is not maximizing your talent at the RB position. |
Not shady at all Ravens. They'll now sign Crabtree I assume.
@AdamSchefter: WR Ryan Grant, who reached agreement with Baltimore on a $29 million deal, failed his physical and his Ravens deal is null and void, per sources. Grant will have to find another deal with another team willing to pass him on his physical. @AdamSchefter: Former Raiders' WR Michael Crabtree is scheduled to visit Friday with the Baltimore Ravens, per source. |

Middlekauff thinks Oakland made a big mistake today: https://twitter.com/johnmiddlekauff/...524786176?s=21

So did anyone else know that Oakland currently has 5 tight ends and 2 fullbacks?
Gruden might actually try to go back in time with this offense. Lol |

To get Vita Vea, I think the Chiefs would have to trade their 2018 2nd rd pick, Skins 2018 3rd rd pick, the Rams 2nd pick in 2019 plus their own 2019 3rd round pick.
Yeah I think it would take that much to get into the mid 1st round this year and that if he last to the 15th overall pick. |
I'd rather pay less to maybe move up a few spots to draft Settle.
|
Am I the only one who doesn't want Vita vae?
|
Veach isn’t going to move up for Vita Vea. That would be a waste.
One of our biggest problems last year was the pass rush. Look at how everything changed when Chris Jones left the game in the playoffs? If we are going to score a bunch of points next year, we need to load up on pass rushers. Look for another version of Chris Jones, especially since it’s a deep DB draft. |

"I need to watch him more but Bud (Foster) moved him around and I saw a guy who can play both nose spots, 3 (technique), 4i, and maybe 5. Reminds me of when (Dontari) Poe came out. He ain't Poe, but he can play all over the line like Poe could." -- AFC defensive line coach |
Veach is the guy who identified Fletcher Cox as a must have for Philly in the draft, so we can assume he has a decent eye for DL talent.

I have a feeling Veach has a better eye than Dorsey. |

Bailey-Logan-Jones with Nacho, Jenkins and a few draft picks? Not terrible. And hopefully we see Jones take his game to another level and be a more consistent force game in and game out. |

To run a 3-4 defense effectively regardless of whether your plan is to stop the run or pass, you need to free up your LBers to make plays. And what better way to do that than getting a dominant NT? Add a fat body is like an indirect way of improving your passrush. |
I don't understand why you want your DL to just take up blockers and take up running lanes. I'd want them to blow up the line

he is pretty damn good. Not package a shit ton of picks good, but he chews up blockers and makes plays at the LOS. |

I think he is worth it to trade up. He would change the face of this defense completely. |
I was advocating the other day for this team to go after Suh and Vita. That would be insane!
|
Veach probably thought he could get a good DL from FA but at this point, you're left wondering if we shouldn't have traded for Danny Shelton, similarly to the trades for Ragland and Erving.

I don't think we have enough to go up and get Vea. But I'd be happy if Veach has that kind of wizardry.

Vea is a little meh to me. He's good but I dunno that he's really THAT good.
I'd rather have one of the Bama DL. |
