New Orleans stick to their draft board and select their future Center, from Boston College Matt Tennant.

There's alot of ways they could have gone, but selecting the 2nd best Center in the draft was too much to pass on for a team that could use Center help. Brees will be pleased.

This guy is Jason Smith insurance, but more importantly, he can play 4 of 5 line positions. He'll provide protection for Clausen, but more importantly, he gives the Rams a really solid line if Smith doesn't bust.

His stock really shot up after the East/West Shrine game, but he's not a Johnny Come Lately. He was a 3.5 year starter in a major conference at a premium position.

At this point, he's good value and good protection.

The St. Louis Rams select Rodger Saffold, OT/G, Indiana

The Detroit Lions are on the clock.

Ah one of the guys I thought about for the GB pick.

BigChiefFan 03-14-2010 09:27 PM

I feel pretty good about adding Carlos Dunlap and Matt Tennant to the Saints.

That answers 4/5 spots on the Rams line. That should give their QB protection and solidify the running game.

The only problem is they need 2 outside LB's really bad, I'd have probably taken Daryl Washington with their 1st pick to be honest with you.

DeezNutz 03-14-2010 09:31 PM

Almost took him for the Cards, late in the second.

I agree, but I'm not going to reach for any player. I see some value later in the draft.

Mecca 03-14-2010 09:34 PM

I don't think Washington is a reach there, I think he'll go higher in the actual draft than he did in this one.

Dunlap has too much upside to pass on, so I was referring to the 2nd round pick. Any OLBer I would have selected here, would be a reach in my book. I'll take the 2nd rated Center over the rated OLBers at this point. There's some pretty good later round OLBer prospects, IMO.

It wasn't easy to pass on Suh and McCoy but one thing that made it possible was the depth at the position in this draft. Even though the Lions traded for Corey Williams depth at DT is an issue after Sammie Hill. The Detroit Lions select from Cal, defensive tackle Tyson Alualu.

Mecca 03-14-2010 09:49 PM

Alualu, I think is a better fit for a 3-4 team and I think this is a little high for him, regardless of what Mayock may think.

Sfeihc 03-14-2010 09:54 PM

He can play 3-tech, Gunther told me. J/K Corey Williams is what he is and he may not be able to return to his level of production that he had in GB. Alualu can bring some heat on the pass rush from the 3-tech. Good vibes on this one, mecca. I could be wrong. I'm talking to you Kory Sheets.
I didn't know Mayock liked him? He wacky, IMHO, doesn't he have Berry like 12th overall?

Mr. Flopnuts 03-14-2010 10:01 PM

I agree that Alualu is going to get drafted by a 3-4 team.
