It was a bad pass, but it’s also a testament to Warner’s ability and discipline. The Niners did a stellar job of containing Mahomes and held their positions for the first 3 quarters of the game.
Really, the only plays I can think of where they were caught out of position was Wasp, and when they were out of position on Williams early runs and went for the home run to stop him on his 38 yard TD to seal it. |

I guess you could critique Saleh for blitzing in that situation (his front four were doing a fine job of generating pressure without help) but on that one, our playmakers just came together and made the backbreaking (borrowing that phrase) play of the Super Bowl. |

Where Kyle ****ed up was not taking every opportunity to go up by 3 possessions before Mahomes caught fire - because he absolutely can win from the pocket, and once he started connecting, there was nothing the Niners could do to stop him. Andy also deserves Kudos for never giving up on the run (really). The Niners D was gassed by the end of the fourth. They were out for what, 70 plays? Amazing that we also won TOP by 7 minutes. That’s an underrated part of the game that made a massive difference when we put it out of reach in the fourth. |

He had a game altering miss against Denver in the 97 playoffs (Yeah, I know the phantom hold caused him to be pushed back, but still). And he had a soul crushing miss against Oakland that would have sent the Chiefs to the 99 playoffs - which would have been the last hoorah for the Chiefs of that era. The Chiefs then lost against Rich Gannon (Carl sure had a talent for picking qb’s, eh?) and then was hit one of the franchises biggest tragedies ever a few weeks later (not Stoyo’s fault, just a difficult time in general). Despite Buttkicker getting a reputation for having XP issues, he’s always been nails at the perfect times. |

Oh man, the scoreboards are all ****ed up, too. Makes it look like the Kelce touchdown was worth zero points and the Watkins catch was a touchdown. Disastrous

it's flawed
just like our season a metaphor |

Hopefully, Sembower is working on something for the Super Bowl. |
Got my Super Bowl LIV Champions: Kansas City Chiefs blu ray today from Amazon. Made this Sunday night a great one.

Why did SF throw the ball so much in the second half?????
|
We won the last NFL football game to be played in the year 2020.
So that's noteworthy. |

I still get a lot of satisfaction listening to national sports talk shows and every now and then when discussing schedules or free agents or something the Super Bowl Champions are referenced. It’s great.

Has anyone gone back to watch this game since the Super Bowl?
<iframe width="560" height="315" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/fyM8hxeUteM" frameborder="0" allow="accelerometer; autoplay; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture" allowfullscreen></iframe> It's kind of surreal to do so now. Little did we know the 2018 home opener was going to be a tune-up for our next Super Bowl. There's some interesting similarities in the matchups. On the first drive, the Chiefs had 3rd and 15 and got 14 on a screen pass. They ended up going for it on 4th and 1 and ran a read option - exactly the same play the Chiefs ran from the goal line and on the second 4th and 1 in the Super Bowl. The 49ers first touchdown was a pass to Juszcyzk as well. The Chiefs ended up winning this one by 11 like the SB - but unlike the Super Bowl were up 35-10 by halftime. This was the game that also had THIS touchdown from Patrick. https://s3media.247sports.com/Upload...09/9609076.gif The 49ers got back in it with shredding our run D and George Kittle embarrassing Bob Sutton and running over our soft players in the secondary. It was a nice tone setter when Breeland ran through Kittle’s block and blew up a screen on the Niners first drive in our rematch. Our D just had a different mentality this year. In last year’s game, our pal Dee Ford turned in a sack on Jimmy G. and Jimmy later tore his ACL by taking on contact (instead of going out of bounds or sliding) at the end of the game. Jimmy credited that hit for allowing the 49ers to land Nick Bosa. You'd think playing against the Chiefs in the Mahomes era would have been enough for Shanny Jr. to try to be more aggressive to end the first half and to have iced time away from Patrick by running the football late - but whatever, I'm good with it. The run the Chiefs took in the 2nd quarter in the 2018 game was a thing of beauty, the 49ers defense looked absolutely shell-shocked. That level of domination by the Chiefs reminded me in all the best ways of watching the Chiefs run away with the game in the last 7 minutes of the Super Bowl. |
Is that Kaepernick and his Dad?

THE CHIEFS WON THE SUPERBOWL!!
|
Pants-That was one of the most amazing plays I had ever seen by a Chiefs QB. At that point, I knew this was for real.
Everyone gave up except for Mahomes. I have watched the SB a few times the last few weeks. Another great part of winning is that it makes everyone else feel like a failure and panics into craziness for the next year. |

Since I've been in a huff about the disrespect he's been getting around these parts. Here's Baldy's breakdown of the day my man Damien Williams had in the Super Bowl. He definitely should be our #1 back going into next year, even if we draft a rookie to wait in the wings at the #2.
