I don’t expect the Chiefs OL to completely shut down the 49ers pass rush.

I also don’t expect the 49ers DL to treat the Chiefs OL as a turnstile.

I expect probably 2 sacks...maybe 3 from the 49ers. As long as they aren’t strips for turnovers, then I don’t expect those few plays to wreck the game.

htismaqe 01-28-2020 01:01 PM

I'd expect to see some holding penalties.

The point is you are including two teams who didn’t even get to rush the passer much against your team due to weather and the score. Not to mention they ****ing suck.

It’s a pointless ****ing stat.

The KC OL faced 3 teams in the top 10 in adjusted sack rate:

5th - Minnesota - 5 sacks (No Mahomes though)
6th - Jacksonville - 0 Sacks
8th - New England - 1 Sack

For comparison sake, SF faced 6 teams in the top 10 in adjusted sack rate including all the teams in the top 5.

Our DLine faced the got 4 sacks against the #1 pass protecting team (the Rams) in our first matchup and 0 in our second matchup.

That Jacksonville matchup is the one that probably should hold the most relevance for 49er fans.

They play the same basic scheme. The Jags aren't as good at LB as the 49ers, though Myles Jack is the best out of the two groups. 49ers have more depth. At the time, Jacksonville still had Ramsesy and Bouye lined up outside, an elite CB tandem. DL were similar in overall talent, with a depth edge to the 49ers.

The Chiefs cooked that defense for 40 points despite losing Hill about 10 snaps into the game and Mahomes having his original ankle sprain happen in the first half.

The Jags' overall personnel at that time surpassed the Chargers (similar bookends, better corners, better cover LB). The only real difference was that the Chargers have Derwin James and no one else does.

Tartt is going to need to have a Derwin James-like impact against KC for the 49ers to really hope to significantly slow the Chiefs O on Sunday, IMO.

Rams' games are interesting. First matchup, you dominated their offensive line. What happened in the second matchup? Did McVay make adjustments or do injuries or lack thereof explain the huge difference in the effectiveness of their passing offense?

Dee Ford had 1.5 sacks in the first game.

He didn't play in the 2nd game.

The drop-off in SF's pass rush when he's out is ridiculous. Seriously, like a 50% drop-off.

And it was Week 1. The Jaguars had every reason to give it their best shot at the time. They did get pressure on Mahomes and plenty of hits on him. But the Jags secondary got lit up like fireworks on July 4th.

Take away the middle of the field vs Jimmy and he pees himself.

Garoppolo had the worst EPA per attempt in the NFL on throws targeting outside receivers.

If the Chiefs are able to take away the 49ers’ slot receivers and tight ends, Garoppolo will have to do something he hasn’t done well all season: Throw to receivers on the perimeter. On those plays, Garoppolo averaged -0.13 EPA per attempt and produced a success rate of just 42.6%. The first number ranked dead last. The second number ranked second-to-last. Not good.

Yeah, the first game the Rams came.out trying to run the ball down our throats to stop the pass rush. Saleh adjusted the defensive line slant and switch to two gapping on running downs and that was that.

The second game they didn't even try to run, the just rolled Goff out over and over. That worked a lot better.

McVay showed them a moving pocket, they are really bad when the QB's are not on the single stationary QB platform in the middle of the pocket. Even designed rollouts completely **** with their defense.

And a better 3-cone and short shuttle time than Russell Wilson and Deshaun Watson.

I guess when he's about 30 yards downfield, your boys will finally run him down. That'll be a shame...

Correct. I've tried to point this out before and it got little attention. Do you think KC will be targeting Ford early knowing that an injury (broken nail?) will take him out of the game and take away SF's greatest defensive strength?

Pat's 'average' season included throwing for more yards, more TDs, a third of the INTs and a higher passer rating than Jimmy G. Oh, and he did that playing 2.75 fewer games.

And since you brought up playoffs, Jimmy has thrown for 208 yards, a TD and a INT.

Mahomes has thrown for 615 yards, 8 TDs and ZERO INTs in these playoffs.

So much for average.

Not only are we the best team in the league in yards per play but we’re twice as good as your team.

ROFL ROFL oh you poor delusional bastard

There is an advanced metric that grades QBs to see how good they are compared to an average QB. It is called PAA - Points Added above Average QB. Mahomes was #2 in the league, despite missing 2.5 games. His PAA was higher than Brady’s 2017 season that received MVP.

Twice as good? How stupid can one be?

Take that stat and shove it up your ass. The Chiefs are the better team by overall DVOA, as the gap between the Chiefs defense and 49ers is smaller than the one between the KC offense and 9ers offense.

Mahomes is a beast Christ that’s all you got I don’t know why anyone would attack him. Besides being slow as all hell

For all the talk of offense, we scored more.
And our D is light years better.
Lastly, Shanahan can outscheme Anybody. Even the great Andy Reid.

Slow as all hell? I hope your players believe that.

Comparing offense and defense we get 1.6 yards per play and you get .80 yards. We are twice as good.

A board full of people not paying attention to Hardman 21 YPC, 6 TDs, all of 40+ yards) or Travis Kelce’s rushing TD?

Deebo is a baller, though. Hoped he would fall to KC in the 2nd.

Tyreek missed all of September and then Pat missed 3 games right after. Tyreek and Pat were barely on the field at the same time the first half of the season.

Why are partial stats interesting? 49ers had TDs to 13 different players, and 6 to RBs. Fewer stars, more balance.

God, I hope Shanahan is dumb enough to believe that shit.

How insecure these 49ers fans / trolls must be to spend the entire weeks leading up to the SB posting ignorant nonsense on the opposing fans message board.

Your team is tissue paper soft. Niners win 35-17

Oh yeah, you must be right there dickbreath. Your sorry ass defense is gonna be so gassed chasing around the speed on this team they won’t be able to catch 11mph Mahomes when he starts gashing you.
