What's even weirder is that some of these over the top negative posters in the GDT are probably actively hoping we don't come back from a poor start in one of these games so they can start a thread about folks being homers and not critical enough. They are out there...

Hey, my Brother, knock yourself out. I'm not saying that this doesn't amuse me, because it does :)

I would love to see the inverse of this thread.

Oh, it's already started.... you can see it for yourself in the GDT from last week. A few were gloating about how they've been right to be pessimistic all season long. Laughing it up with each other about "how the "smart" people have been telling me it'll all work out... wonder how that's going for them".

They mistaken optimism for opinion and then put the word smart in quotes.

I wonder if, for some of us having lived through what we have with this team, it is the same kind of response that people like doctors have to a ****ing bloodbath in the ER. It is the only way to cope in a situation where they have no control.

For me... when MVS missed that catch I ****ing exploded. Every living creature in the house exited the room I was in because I went nuclear. That shit broke me on the season. That deleted any hope I had that this WR full of "DAWGZ" was gonna actually get their shit together. The issue is compounded by the fact that the FO, seemingly, thought we were only a Meek return away from being a whole unit.

As for taking joy in "how smart" I was by screaming since the end of last season that what MVS did in the AFCCG was a one off illusion and he shouldn't be trusted got me shit on a LOT. I hope you can understand how being able to come back and tell people to eat grape jelly out of my asshole could be satisfying.

That said... I still won't talk about how the game is over until the end just because of Mahomes.

ROFLROFLROFL

I still remember how mad you were leaving my house in '21 after the Ravens game.

That's not the same though.

I watched the Eagles game with Raiderhater and we were screaming about the last missed chance (well, both really)... and last week I pounded the floor when they showed Toney so offsides.

That stuff builds up to moments of wanting to break shit.

Doubting or even saying they won't repeat is still a far cry from "we're screwed at the QB position for years to come" or waving the white flag in not just the first quarter of a game, but the first quarter of just about every game.

Being emotionally invested is just part of fandom, which means taking it too seriously sometimes.

And I bet if they win a SB this year, you'd also proudly stop by and say yep, glad I was wrong about that!

You're probably also not in GDTs the rest of the season making sure everyone knows your hope waned weeks ago and everyone else is a butt ****ing moron if they're still optimistic... or that you're incapable of getting back that optimism. Hell, you probably WANT to have optimism...

LMAO I can't remember who it was now, but Twisted had a pretty heated argument/debate with someone else recently that you wouldn't expect. I kind of like this Twisted that wakes up and chooses violence.

There's no enforcement or gatekeeping, and we certainly don't expect anyone to ever change....hell, I'm not sure we want you to.

It's endlessly entertaining.

Just having fun with it like everyone else. We’re all Chiefs fans, most of us diehards who’ve followed the team for a long time. No matter how someone reacts or vents in a GDT I’ll never question their loyalty to this great franchise or call them out for giving up too early, etc. I just think some here take it far too seriously.

Maybe I'm the only one, but when we finally won the Super Bowl (and especially after winning it twice) it changed things for me as a fan to where I take the 'downs' less seriously than I used to.

I'm not sure why that is, it's not like I am not emotionally invested, but that 'may never get to the promised land' element, that quest to finally get to the summit, it was a bigger part of what it meant to me to be a Chiefs fan than I realized.

Once that was gone, especially after we won a second time, it feels like we don't have anything to prove.

Maybe this is how the Cowboys and Pats fans felt... every Lombardi is cool, but now it's not new. We just expect to be winning them, but realize you can't win them every year so expectations are being met.

Most everyone other than a few die hard fans were pretty much over the Dane McCloud era of CP and of Skip before him.

Version 3 does have some redeeming qualities though so...
