Overall, I think the offense performs better and the pitching performs better. They max out around 85 wins unless something really astonishing happens. Good enough to get them into wild card contention but not enough to make it.

This really should have been a team that was 3-6 wins better than its record in 2012. I'm figuring that in as well as 6-8 wins from young players progressing/getting better and better starting pitching.

If the Royals luck swings 3-6 wins in the positive direction in 2013 (which is much less luck than, say, Baltimore had in 2012), they could sneak into a playoff spot/wildcard spot.

Hoch, Frenchy, and ideally Getz would be replaced- But on paper that looks like a pretty decent team.

If the PR Wanks are going to manipulate you in 2013, you might as well know the details. See attached pdf.

No doubt in my mind it would still be a top 5 org if Myers/Odorizzi were still in KC.

He also is high on the upside/helium of a lot of the guys that have potential for big breakouts with a good 2013 season (Calixte/Bonifacio/Cuthbert/Mondesi/Selman, etc.)

Yeah, it would be Bubba, though I actually think Zimmer is the best combo of high upside/high floor.

He doesn't have absolute superstar potential like Starling, who has the tools to basically be Matt Kemp with more speed, but Zimmer is likely to be at least a No. 5 starter. Starling's floor is of a guy who never makes it past AA.
