Plus two dollars a month for haircuts.

The audience is starting to doze off, so the network shows a replay of Danny Shelton hugging Roger Goodell.

The network won't replay that.

Maybe we'll start showing Jets fans booing their draft picks.

ntexascardfan 04-03-2025 06:07 PM

Sorry about the wait, just got off the river from fishing today.

Jets select Jalen Rivers, OL, Miami

Damnit Staylor!!!! Femi was my Cardinals pick.

Guess I can't complain because he probably goes close to a full round higher on the actual draft.

You have to go back a bit to remember the next selector, who has the rare and perhaps unique distinction of playing on the inaugural teams for both the Chiefs, aka Texans (84 games) and the Dolphins (42 games). We present to you Mr. Mel Branch.

https://encrypted-tbn0.gstatic.com/i...Lcp_Yih2XFnA&shttps://encrypted-tbn0.gstatic.com/i...q5-QWq_qymCQ&s

Mel comes onto the stage and tells some charming stories about participating in two different startup teams, and then arrives at his task.

"The Miami Dolphins select JJ Pegues, DT, Ole Miss."

Rain Man 04-04-2025 05:11 PM

Mel Branch informs the Colts that they're on the clock, though he calls them the Baltimore Colts and swears they're in the NFC.

Yeah we’re kind of crapping out. Too many days where we only get in 1-3 picks. I think we can still be fine but people should really be making better use of the PM system

Yeah... we've been on round 4 for 5 days already and still have a good amount of picks left in it. We have the 3 rounds with the most picks coming up and the draft starts in 17 days. Better quicken the pace up substantially.

I'd cut the delay timer in half and keep it on on weekends at this point.

smithandrew051 04-07-2025 04:26 PM

At this rate, the late rounds are going to be painful

Rain Man 04-07-2025 05:28 PM

Making the selection for the Los Angeles Rams is none other than Greg Meisner, who played a combined 131 games for the Chiefs (28 games) and Rams (103 games).

https://scontent-den2-1.xx.fbcdn.net...xg&oe=681BCF52

It appears that Greg saw little action during his time with the Chiefs, as no photos are available. But since he played for the Chiefs in 1989 and 1990, he can tell some good stories about playing alongside a young Derrick Thomas and Neil Smith.

Greg acknowledges his lack of Chiefs exposure, and then adds a defensive lineman to the Rams roster.

"The Los Angeles Rams select Jamaree Caldwell, DT, Oregon."

Rain Man 04-07-2025 05:31 PM

Greg Meisner notifies the Commanders that they're on the clock. He has to show an ID so they'll recognize him as the announcer, though.

GloucesterChief 04-07-2025 05:45 PM

The Washington Commanders select Damien Martinez, RB, Miami

smithandrew051 04-07-2025 05:49 PM

Ray Rice announces the pick.

“First of all, happy International Women’s Day.

Second, the Baltimore Ravens select David Walker, Edge, Central Arkansas.

duncan_idaho 04-07-2025 06:10 PM

I appear to have decent access tonight from the my seats.

Round 5 is somewhat up. I will finish in the morning. Just wanted to get started so I'm not holding us up.

Chargem 04-07-2025 11:36 PM

Best get your ass in here and make your pick before RunBillay ends up sticking...

RunKC 04-08-2025 08:02 AM

The “legend” (Kelce laughs furiously) of Matt Milano is coming to an end after this season.

This would be a pretty fantastic board at this point of the draft for KC. I mean I can count at least 6 guys out there right now that I'd love to get in KC. And I haven't even gone to the offensive side of the ball yet.

I stand by my complaint here...

This should be the easiest pick of the entire draft.

staylor26 04-08-2025 08:20 AM

Duncan already sent his pick.

DJ will be pleased. As should all of us.

The Kansas City Chiefs select Kyle Williams, WR, Washington St.

Yeah - that just looked like a complete no-brainer to me.

I haven't really been doing any homework at all on late guys (there are still a few guys I had as 4th round picks) so I'm pretty free to bow out gracefully now.

My draft would've been pretty close to Duncans

Conerly
Morrison
Sanders
Ivey
Williams

Though had that pick at the top of 3 been a week later, I'd have probably taken Royals over Sanders -- woulda been a tough decision. At the time the pick was made, though, I'd have gone Sanders. My affinity for Royals has been a little late arriving. That might have changed the Ivey pick but wouldn't have impacted Williams.

If I made all those picks today it probably would've been:

Conerly
Morrison
Royals
Jordan Phillips
Williams

duncan_idaho 04-08-2025 09:52 AM

Sorry, busy morning here.

Full Duncan Idaho update (staylor, feel free to copy and paste into the pick if you have a sec).

In the Chiefs draft room, Connor Embree starts nervously jiggling his legs as the pick approaches. He keeps looking at Veach. "Brett, we need him, should we..."

Connor stops short of whatever he was about to say as Veach turns his cold, calculating gaze to the energetic young WR coach.

"Patience. The Bills are too stupid to not **** this up. We're fine."

As the Bills pick comes in and they select another LB who will get hurt all the time and fold like an aluminum chair against playoff offenses, Veach looks at Embree pointedly and says "See. Never. Doubt me. Again. Now call your guy."

On the draft stage, Jeremy Maclin walks out. He smiles broadly as he says "Why you keep letting my man Brett duncan idaho Veach do this, ya'll? 314, let's get behind our CHIEFS!!!"

The Kansas City Chiefs select Kyle Williams, WR, Washington State.

"Day 3 star picks 4 life!" J-Mac exclaims as he steps away and begins to stroll off the stage, before stubbing his toe on the power line running to the podium, collapsing to the ground, and momentarily looking like he's dead. After a few moments, he gets up and limps off stage.

He's seen in the tunnel just seconds later, totally fine.

Would kind of stink not getting one of the Day 1-2 DL in this draft, I think. I took a risk there and got a bit lucky.

Chargem 04-08-2025 11:08 AM

The Philadelphia Eagles select Gunnar Helm, TE, Texas

Rain Man 04-08-2025 11:26 AM

Some people are born at the wrong time, and this can be said for our next announcer. Chris Chambers played in 122 combined games for the Chiefs (22 games) and Dolphins (100 games), but he was born too late to play with Dan Marino and too early to play with Patrick Mahomes II. Such is life.

https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikiped..._Chambers2.jpghttps://cdn.vox-cdn.com/thumbor/4ETH...0062865749.jpg

Chris comes onto the stage and makes a straightforward announcement.

"The Miami Dolphins select Jake Briningstool, TE, Clemson."

Rain Man 04-08-2025 11:37 AM

Chris notifies the Ravens that they're on the clock and wistfully notes that he would have enjoyed playing with a quarterback like Lama - er, well, Joe Flacco.

smithandrew051 04-08-2025 11:48 AM

Ray Lewis approaches the podium in a white suit.

“Let me take a stab at this.

The Baltimore Ravens select Devin Neal, RB, Kansas.”

Appreciate you sorting it each year staylor, it's a helluva effort. I've only done one and I was amazed it all came together in the end.
