Sounds like everything is going to be very delayed this year. Select a seat was in May last year, but they are telling us it'll be September this year. So no one will really have their seats available for sale until probably September, so you likely aren't going to have any luck trying until then. They've given season ticket holders a deadline of September 6 to renew, and the select a seat process will take place after that. |

That's a pretty big damned deal to reduce the capacity by 1k

TBT = The Basketball Tounament, an ESPN creation featuring teams that are a hodge podge of former college players. There were KSU, WSU, and KU alumni teams in the Wichita bracket, all disposed of by Team Colorado.
I attended the final Wichita game between Mass Street (KU team) and Colorado. The Colorado team was just tougher overall, much more dialed into their defense. The first quarter, Mass St had trouble even getting a shot off before it was behind 8-0. From there to half, Mass St would fight to within 2 or 3 and Colo would re-extend their lead. In the 3rd quarter, Mass St buckled down and eventually gained the lead and with 4 minutes to play were ahead by 9 points. That's where the Elam Ending is implemented, adding 8 points to the leading score creating a target score (84). First team to 84 wins the game. Mass St started jacking up errant 3s and Colo won the game. The Colo team had a point guard named Adams who was nails. Their bigs were stouter and gave better defensive effort than KUs. |

Exciting depth piece. Probably replaces Elmarko. Bill never stops working. |

21 PPG in D1 anywhere is a good add for anyone

As long as he isn’t an abomination defensively, he’ll play a role on this team. It’ll be nice to have some scoring pop off the bench again. |
How do you pronounce his name

Not sure his defense will be good enough to keep him on the floor but there’s always value in a shooter for particular game situations. |

Our bench the last two years has just been horrible.
Having actual competent players come in to provide some relief will be a huge help. I can’t wait to see what Dickinson can do when he can play fewer minutes and be surrounded by shooters. |

One crazy thing about Coit is he was allowed to shoot 9.6 threes per game. His 2-point FG percentage is actually pretty good for a small guard at exactly 50%. Harris shot 44% from 2 last year. McCullar shot 52% from 2 last year.

Solid pickup for depth.

LAWRENCE, Kan. – Dates and locations for Kansas men's basketball's 2024-25 conference schedule have been set, the Big 12 announced today. Start times and television assignments will be announced later. Kansas will open Big 12 play hosting West Virginia on New Year's Eve. The Jayhawks will then hit the road on Sunday, Jan. 5 at UCF in Orlando. The Jayhawks will make their first of three appearances on ESPN's Big Monday Feb. 3, hosting Iowa State at Allen Fieldhouse. KU will then travel to Boulder, Colorado on Monday, Feb. 24 in a battle of former league foes and conclude its Big Monday slate at Houston on March 3. Since the inception of the Big 12 in 1996-97, Kansas has appeared in more Big Monday contests than any other conference school. KU is 79-23 all-time on Big Monday (48-1 at home and 31-23 on the road), including 60-18 under head coach Bill Self (37-0 at home and 23-18 on the road). Additionally, KU has won 41-consecutive Big Monday games hosted at Allen Fieldhouse. Overall, KU is 24-6 in its last 30 (80%) Big Monday contests. KU will conclude its regular season when it plays host to new Big 12 member Arizona on Saturday, March 8, for Senior Night honoring seven Jayhawks in their final game at Allen Fieldhouse. Those being honored include KJ Adams Jr., Patrick Cassidy, David Coit, Hunter Dickinson, Dajuan Harris Jr., Zeke Mayo and Shakeel Moore. Beginning in 1983-84, a span of 41 seasons, under then-head coach Larry Brown, Kansas has not lost its final home game of the season. Arizona's last trip to Allen Fieldhouse was Nov. 25, 2007, a KU 76-72 overtime win. Kansas released its nonconference schedule on July 11, featuring an Allen Fieldhouse matchup against fellow Blue Blood North Carolina on Nov. 8. Other home non-conference opponents include Howard, Oakland, UNC-Willington, Furman, North Carolina State and Brown. Kansas will play Michigan State in the Champions Classic on Nov. 12 in Atlanta, and Duke on Nov. 26 in the Vegas Showdown in Las Vegas. Its Dec. 4 contest at Creighton is part of the Big 12-BIG EAST Battle and KU will play at Missouri on Dec. 8. The Howard contest, on Nov. 4, will be the second annual McLendon Classic honoring Kansas graduate and two-time Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame coach John McLendon. The McLendon Classic features an HBU school playing at Kansas. Last season, KU hosted North Carolina Central in the inaugural McClendon Classic. Studying under Kansas' first coach Dr. James Naismith, McLendon was a pioneer for the integration of college basketball and the architect behind the fast break and pressure defense. Following the 40th Annual Late Night in the Phog on Friday, Oct. 18 in Allen Fieldhouse, Kansas will play a charity exhibition game at Arkansas on Friday, Oct. 25 raising funds for mental health awareness. KU will have its home exhibition contest against Washburn on Oct. 29. Kansas is coming off a 23-11 season where it advanced to the NCAA Tournament for the 33rd time in the last 34 years, a run that started in 1990. KU returns three starters led by Dickinson, a 2024 Consensus All-America Second Team, All-Big 12 First Team and the Big 12 Newcomer of the Year selection. Dickinson was the only player in the Big 12 to average a double-double (17.9 ppg, 10.9 rpg). Other returning starters include all-conference selections Harris and Adams. Kansas has nine newcomers on its roster that includes six upperclassmen transfers. Long gone are the days of losing only 2-3 conference games a season in the B12. That's a gauntlet.

Met with a client who is pretty well connected to KU Athletics. We got into a discussion about the absurd pricing for STH next year and that lead to us talking about NIL.
It may be widely known to some of you, but he told me that Self is aiming to retire by age 65. He's going huge on NIL this year and the next few years, as he wants one more National Championship before he retires. I know Self has always maintained he doesn't want to be the "old coach", so this checks out. Just thought I'd share. We are #2 in NIL money spent for 2024. Arkansas is #1, of course. Tough to match those dollars... |

Just posted this on my facebook page in case any of you might be interested:
Four seats together, Section 3, Row 19, seats 19-22. I got far enough away from the student section that you won't have to stand the entire time, and away from the corner benches so you'll be snug but not crammed. Will sell in pairs or all four together. 10/29 - 7:00 pm: Washburn (exhibition) - $25 each 11/4 - 7:00 pm: Howard (conflicts with Chiefs MNF) - $40 each 11/16 - tba: Oakland - $50 each 11/19 - 7:00 pm: UNC-Wilmington - $50 each 11/30 - tba: Furman - SOLD 12/14 - 2:00 pm: NC State - $150 each 12/22 - 2:00 pm Brown - $50 each |

Let’s go boys.
Really feels like a KU basketball roster again now that we have the schollies. Going to be a great season. |
Anyone with a stream link by chance?
|
Court looks great
|
Please tell me Mayo scored a lot of baskets
|
There’s a lot of good players on this team.
Bidunga looks as advertised. |
Need more Bidunga
|
Also Coit is the new Remy?

You can tell Storr and Passmore belong already. |
I liked hearing Self say he’s got 11 who can play.
I’d much rather have to figure out who needs to RS instead of hoping we have someone on the bench who can dribble. |
I am pleased Zach Clemence did not shoot a 3.
|
So based on the reports and what we saw on Late Night. I’m guessing things look like this as of now:
Starters: Harris Mayo Storr KJ Adams Dickinson Bench (in the rotation): Passmore Griffen Coit Bidunga Bench (outside looking in): Shakeel Moore (injury, maybe redshirt?) McDowell (could have the occasional impact, but another redshirt candidate. Travis Releford 2.0?) Noah Shelby (I don’t see him cracking the above) Zach Clemence (break glass in emergency 4th big. Can he be a Lightfoot level player?) What we know: Self trusts his guys. Harris, Adams, Dickinson are going to see major minutes. Storr should be plug and play. Bench is vastly improved. We have significantly more margin for error than the last two seasons. Outside shooting is abundant. Finally should have some spacing again. Unlikely to see someone on the court that doesn’t look like a legit D1 player. Too many options. What we don’t know: How many minutes for Bidunga and where do they come from? I have a feeling we’ll be begging for more by conference play. Will Self take minutes from Adams? How well do the new guys defend? Is Passmore a project? Or does he push Mayo to become the 5th starter? Upside is there. Can we see some load management for Harris and Dickinson this year? We have the bodies again. |
There's a roster construction issue for this team as long as KJ Adams continues to start at the 4...
|
Quote:
I’ve accepted that won’t happen though. We have so many guards, that I’d prefer to start 4 guards and rotate Dickinson/Bidunga at the 5. |
One thing I know is our defense will be worse and our offense will be better.
|
Quote:
Furphy was one of the worst defenders of the Bill Self era though. |

Quote:
You’d think with his effort and athleticism that he’d be able to rebound better. I know he’s shorter than a lot of forwards, but Dejuan Blair (Pitt) was similar size. He found a way to be a good rebounder. |
Quote:
Unfortunate as this team has more depth of talent than any Self team in many years. |
The bit of hope I do see with KJ is that Self did change up the lineup in 2017 to get the best 5 on the court.
He started the year with Jackson at the 3, Bragg at the 4, and Lucas at the 5. That was a much more traditional lineup and kept Lucas as the starting 5 as a senior. Even before conference play, it was evident that Svi and Doke needed to be in that lineup. Svi started at the 3, Jackson at the 4 (small ball 4, which was new for a Self team), and Doke at the 5. Hopefully Bidunga or one of the bench guards are so good that Self has to switch things up. |
KJ has no business starting. He'd be great off the bench.
Self loves "his guys" too much. He's the best coach in college basketball. I guess you take that as part of having the best coach on your team. |
