The positive angle is that Mahomes will be forced to develop some chemistry with other players. Travis won't be there forever. Long term I want to see Mahomes keep developing as a QB. This could be a good thing for him in the long run, even if it sucks in the short term.

If Mahomes/Reid are able to gain some new chemistry & trust with other receivers while Travis is out, Kelce becomes a really nice luxury to add to this team later in the season. Similar to how Toney was injured last year, but made a couple of massively important plays in the Super Bowl.

With Julie Frymyer, the Chiefs have the best trainer in the NFL. Look at how fast she got Mahomes ankle healed up to play.

You probably need Jones but I get that we're in no rush to sign him. With the longer season and a non-divisional/conference game to start - Andy/Bert view this game is free money. Hell, with the elongated season, they are willing to accept getitng blown out in the season opener in order to further evaluate, negotiate and strategize. They can treat it like a preseason game
Kelce maybe tweaked his knee or actually damaged it. No problem, give us another week to evaluate and strategize. Same with Jones. Andy will find a way to win or learn from it. Nobody is going perfect this season.
