Off to Sky Harbor shortly for a red eye back east. Weather there has been horrible.

Connecting through Charlotte's Web. Expecting delays.

Will be drinking much.....:BLVD:

My Neice in Maricopa told us to use the Mesa Gateway Airport. What's the scoop on that?

Less of a chance of running into scho.

Sky Harbor is probably a lot closer to where he lives than Mesa Gateway but I was looking to avoid the jam-packed Zoo. I do see a flight on Allegiant from where I live that's nonstop to Mesa Gateway. That sounds perfect. Flying out of Springfield/Branson is a breeze so using similar sized Airports is what I'm looking for. 3 hour flight! That's just about right to drink couple three Bloody Marys. Bloody Marys are always best when your tens of thousands of feet in the air going several hundred miles per hour.

The only downside might be that it's ~30 miles east of downtown/Sky Harbor, depending on where you're going in Phoenix, but yeah that Springfield to Mesa direct flight is simple and the Mesa airport is just as easy to get in/out than Springfield.

IMO, Sky Harbor isn't bad compared to other big cities (depending on time of day, traffic is the biggest pain in the ass), but if you want a Springfield airport experience, then Mesa is a great option.

I will be down south in Maricopa. Sky Harbor looks to be 10 minutes or so closer. Probably a push on time but avoiding a crowd is probably worth it.

scho63 04-06-2025 10:21 PM

I'm less than 5 miles from Sky Harbor. No reason for me to go to Mesa.

If you are in Chandler, Gilbert, Maricopa, San Tan, Queens Creek then Mesa could be a good option.

Pitt Gorilla 04-06-2025 10:38 PM

Cold Harbor?!?

scho63 04-06-2025 10:58 PM

Another 100% full flight.

scho63 04-07-2025 06:12 AM

A new phenomenon in airport boarding: healthy black women getting wheel chairs so they can get on board first in preboarding. 4 women all in 40s or early 50s in wheelchairs at the gate.

What a scam. Lol

KCUnited 04-07-2025 06:39 AM

Flew out of Sky Harbor to KC on Friday, and maybe first time ever, gate to gate, I didn't have one person in front of me going through security

Took less than 5 minutes at both airports

I like first flight of the day out though since the plane is already sitting at the airport

I noticed that on a flight out of Mesa several weeks ago... seemed like half the ****ing plane got on early.

KCUnited 04-07-2025 07:06 AM

I'm normally not one for passenger conversation but sat next to the founder of Putter Junky coming back from KC and was one of the most interesting encounters I've had on a flight

Engineer who worked for the PGA for a decade started his own custom club design and manufacturing company. Conversation was mostly around modular putters but he had some cool stories. Talked nearly the entire 2 hours about the golf club design, materials, and manufacturing side. Super interesting

Flew from DAL to MCI on Saturday morning. Everyone on the plane had their own row.

Flew from MCI to DAL on Saturday night. Almost every row had a free seat in the middle.

Also, on another note, this was my first time at the upgraded MCI. I like it....it's actually like a real airport now. The only downside is a slightly longer walk from security to the gate.

I fly a lot of hub to hub flights. I think that is why all full.

Had a young woman try to get on board before me last week. She had an emotional support animal (aka her dog with a vest) with her. The gate agent told her to **** off and called us. It was great.

TLDR most of the complaints, but Sky Harbor is one of the busiest airports in the country and moves people through quickly IMO. I don't fly for business but I think it's pretty damn good overall. They have been building and adding non-stop for the last 20 years. Going to MCI is like being in ghost town.

Good, some of the "support animals" clearly aren't.

The Airbus A321neo is the nicest domestic plane I have been on in my life.

Comfortable seats, overhead bins a lot of room, air circulation is good, lighting very nice.

Much nicer than Boeing.

I'll be on an A320 MCI->ORD, then I'll be on big and beautiful Boeing 777-300ERs ORD->DBX and DBX->MLE (and back) later this month, ending with another ride on an A320 ORD->MCI.

I'm a Boeing fan with the 747 being my all time favorite.

Life is good...

The Boeing 747 international was great when it first launched. I flew a lot of United 747s in business from Newark to Tokyo and it was very nice. I was upstairs once on Quantas from Sydney to Los Angeles .

Mr Ev 04-10-2025 11:48 AM

I guess getting to airport 1 hr before flight and waiting 10 mins for security is rough….geeze. I fly to and from Skyharbor at least a dozen times a year. Never an issue. One of the easiest airports around. That being said there are a lot of events throughout the fall and winter than probably add to congestion in the city/surrounding areas.

scho63 04-10-2025 08:21 PM
