Can you imagine the first play of the regular season....Andy says to Hill and Watkins....both of you run a fly pattern....Pat, the first guy 2 steps behind his receiver gets the pass.

LOL Mahomes is going to shuffle pass it to Kelce for an 8 yard gain.

I think Veach put all the gauranteed money in the first 2 years. Probably gave him a hell of a signing bonus. Bet this years cap hit is decent while next years is $16 million and 2019 is >$16 million with a clean way out.

Yep he will be off the books prior to extending Mahomes or Hunt.

And gives us two years to draft/develop his replacement.

The important thing is that other than some O line depth our franchise QB is wanting for nothing.

There is NOTHING our young QB needs that he doesn't have...

Bewbies 03-13-2018 10:08 AM

I hope Watkins is so good here we re-sign him to another 3-4 year deal in a couple years.

ToxSocks 03-13-2018 10:09 AM

16M Per. Ouch. Oh well. I hope it works out well.

Randallflagg 03-13-2018 10:15 AM

Loading up the offense for Mahomet....good deal!! Now, how about the defense?

JoeyChuckles 03-13-2018 10:20 AM

Well - they are signing Hitchens from Dallas. He can play. Pretty good run stuffing LB. So, it's a start!

Mosbonian 03-13-2018 10:23 AM

Funny how some were screaming at Veach for the Marcus Peters trade.....now we all love him again after these moves today.

pugsnotdrugs19 03-13-2018 10:36 AM

If the offense is as good as it should be, that alone gets KC in the playoffs. And I still believe wholeheartedly that the defense is going to be better in ‘18, perhaps markedly.

chiefzilla1501 03-13-2018 10:36 AM

The Chiefs need to find a way to bring in Kingsbury stat to backfill for Childress. There are some really intriguing air raid concepts the Chiefs should explore. Running four verts with this personnel would be unstoppable.

Why would Kingsbury leave a HC job to do that?

Mecca 03-13-2018 10:38 AM

Anthony Sherman might get more playing time this year because this base personnel is going to be super hard to cover, and it'd make running the ball even more dangerous.

I like that he goes and gets who he wants that's a vast change from what we are use to.

So far all the moves are good outside of Peters and I do believe he was pretty much hamstrung on that one.

He's on the hot seat. And arguably a better fit for the nfl where he doesn't have to deal with recruiting. If he goes to the nfl, this is an ideal opportunity for him.

Chiefnj2 03-13-2018 10:42 AM

I'm eagerly awaiting wild card weekend to see the new and unique way Andy Reid can lose a game with this much offensive firepower.

Rain Man 03-13-2018 10:44 AM

Watkins ran a 4.34 40 at the combine. That barely edges out Chris Conley to make him our second-fastest receiver.

Grudens WCO isn't exactly Reid's. But yes, with Pat's arm's comebacks from down 14 are possible again even late into the 4th Q

Yup. Monster arm, improviser, back shoulder throws, ability to read the pocket to escape pressure. This would be a disaster with Alex Smith.

I love this signing.

The Chiefs are trying to be GREAT on offense. I think you need to be great on one side of the ball and at least good on the other to be a championship team. There was no way the Chiefs were going to be great on defense with the holes they need to fill but simply adding a stud WR, they can be great....if Mahomes is as good as they believe he will be.

DaNewGuy 03-13-2018 11:28 AM

Mahomes can throw the ball further, on his knees, than most punters can kick the ball.

Think about that...

I think we can get the defense at least respectable. If we can get Kyle Fuller I will feel ALOT better.

Hammock Parties 03-13-2018 11:30 AM

Defenses are going to have 2 safeties back against this team all season long.

Hunt and Kelce should go off this year.

I think you could see Kelce rack up 100 catches.

saphojunkie 03-13-2018 11:32 AM

This is just a ****ing sexy ass signing.

Combined with Hitchens, and holy shit I am loving me some Brett Veach. Hey, let's pay a premium for young, super talented guys whose best years are ahead of them, and not behind.

Also, I am really happy that Spencer Ware is coming back and will be able to give Hunt rest.

This receiving corps is dope. I still think we add another TE, though. Although, Harris somehow magically was great when Mahomes threw him the ball.

Gee, I wonder if guys just play harder for a badass QB?

Foot injuries, especially Sammy's, are bad and take like 2-3 years to fully heal. But they heal if you aren't 7 feet 280 pounds. Even then they sometimes do.

People are just looking for reasons to bitch about this and it is goddam awesome. It isn't your money. We got a starting linebacker and threat to score wide receiver today and you should be celebrating.

Alex Smith has made you all a bunch of crybabies and to quote a good song

Quote:

"You've been hooked, you've been crooked, you've been lied to so many times, that you're suspicious-minded. And when the right thing comes along, you don't believe in it. When it's coming in knocking on the front door, you're out the back door looking for four leaf clovers. And when you find it, you think somebody planted it there to fool you. 'Whats the angle?' You look for an excuse."

Mecca 03-13-2018 12:23 PM

Well if you hate the signing, Bill Polian is your guy.

He hates this signing calls Watkins a dude who is an underachiever then after they talk about all the Chiefs weapons...he rips Tyreek Hill for being a specialized receiver saying "the Chiefs don't even have a #1" then throws a shot about how Reggie Wayne is a better player than any of our guys.

I love this pick up. Eat that cap while sitting in the trainers room!

500 yards average in his last 2 years and on his 3rd team in 5 years. The team who traded for him last year didn't bother to try to resign him, that says it all.

Word from Rams fans say Watkins freed up the other receivers in LA...so the complimentary WRs had nice seasons. Goff was labeled a bust before he showed up...

Teams wont be able to double Watkins every play with Kelce/Hill in the mix. His presence creates a match-up nightmare. Which side gets safety help..then you have Kelce underneath?

AFC West teams shouldn't be happy about this signing...I think KC paid too much but he's pretty damn good when healthy and utilized correctly. He put up almost 700 yards and 6 TDs in the final 6 games after surgery. That's elite numbers...

As did :

Slapping his mom outside the locker room in NY
Attacking Dave Toub in the locker room

And that's just what we KNOW about...

It wasn't anything to do with his onfield play every Sunday...but everything to do with his attitude from Mon-Sat off-field...and people were just sick of him

Seems like he's got about 3 years per team before wearing out his welcome.

1) Rams were trying to get him signed but he wanted to go to KC because he can see what Mahomes can do.

2) I’m traveling but preliminary reviews of Watkins’ film shows:

2.1) Goff is not a great QB. Lots of misses after Watkins got complete separation from the corner; and

2.2) Watkins got open far more often than his numbers show. If he had a QB that had the arm strength and accuracy to get the ball to him, his numbers would have been much higher. We can all agree that based upon he sample size we have, Mahomes will be a lot better than Goff.

Point 2.1 above will make the LA/KC game in Mexico City quite interesting.

I like this signing. $10M is guaranteed and the other $6M is in incentives. This offense will be difficult to stop. Veach isn’t afraid to make some moves. This decision may ultimately not work well but based upon the information e have going in, this is a smart decision.

That's a red herring rebuttal...Bills fans were saying when he's right, he's uncoverable one on one.

He has the ability to one of the best WRs in the NFL...It'll be interesting, now, that he isn't the sole receiving option and having Tyrod throwing to him. Reid can find ways to use him...

Whatever man, if you don't think that 2 surgeries and some screws in Watkins' foot are nothing to worry about then good for you.

Hope so

I'm just curious how the Donkeys will attempt to cover especially after dumping Talib. With Tyreek and Watkins both causing a D to have to help over the top and Kelce requiring more than a LB to cover what are you gonna do? 6 DB's so Hunt can run apeshit or leave an lb in so Hunt can exploit on the catch and run? I like the matchup challenges that KC is gonna cause. 3 wideout sets with Tyreek, Watkins and Conley will be faster than any group of CB's in the league.
