Looking at his contract I don't think Carr will be around come 2020 when he's just a 5 million dollar cap hit. They will have him compete for the starting job with somebody by next year
|
Derek Carr is Jay Cutler, just in a different uniform.
|
I actually think Jay has a better arm and more intelligence. Just has no motivation to compete.

In his only truly good season he was a product of the best pass-blocking OL in football by a LOT and he was still a dunk and dunk artist. He's not Jay Cutler or anything of the sort. He's a less mobile, more chickenshit Alex Smith with no particular leadership qualities. Dude is in the bottom 1/3 of NFL quarterbacks and very probably the worst QB in the division. Watching him regress after the national media slobbed his knob for 3 years is just a beautiful guilty pleasure.... |

It is fun. |
yes he does. he sucks it real good too

Good thing that the Raiders gave him that huge contract that has the team strapped for cash and forcing them to trade away a game changing passrusher that they could not afford.

Peters still the best player in our secondary.

Gruden jettisoning Crabtree for Nelson was mindnumbingly dumb. That was the one guy who Carr seemed to be able to depend upon.
|
Gruden actually did a solid job last night. Too bad Carr ruined it for him. That 2nd half was awful.
Carr gave the Rams their last 10 points with his 2 picks LMAO |

I knew I had a Carr rant in here somewhere:
Quote:
Thank God the era of Carr ballwashing is over and I don't have to hear anymore about how we screwed up by passing on him. The dude is as average as a quarterback gets. He's a pure system player with fringe athleticism and mediocre arm talent. He's just...there. |

Game 1 in a new offense against the best defense in the league

And best D in the league? They have no edge rushers or LB’s. They are not better than the Jags or Vikings. |

-- Every dipshit Chiefs fan that was certain Matt Cassel would eventually come around. Carr isn't good. He's not gonna be good. The absolute best case scenario for him is that Gruden is a wizard that masks is deficiencies in a similar manner to Weiss hiding Cassel' awfulness for a year. Again - the guy was a dink and dunk artist even in his 'ascending' years. Now he's feeling phantom pressure and will almost certainly never have the kind of line that made him so comfortable in 2016 again. He doesn't have any stand out physical skills and he's regressed in his accuracy. I only wish they were staying in Oakland so he and Jimmy Grapes could co-exist as overpaid game managers and the bay area could just be awash in expensive mediocrity. Y'know...kinda like everything else in the bay area. |
Quote:
Now that said - while it may not end up reflected in their sack figures, their ability to push the pocket back will still make things uncomfortable for QBs. Rushes straight up the middle into a QBs lap will wreck plays more often than not. |
Quote:
Wow he struggled against the 3rd best defense makes a huge difference. |

and Cooper is looking more and more like Bowe out there as well. I mean, I know the Raiders cap situation is nice and they won't have to pay Mack now - but where the hell do they spend the money? Carr's getting cut or heavily restructured after 2019 and Cooper may not even stay on the team to play under his 5th year option next season. What the hell else do they have to spend money on out there? Oh wait - Gruden's there now. They'll dump it on old guys. I look forward to Suh playing out the string in Las Vegas... |

LMAO Ok Billay. I’ll be bumping this again and quoting you. Even Clay can see it at this point. |

Other than YPC I'm not seeing the Cassel comparison. I think hes a good QB though if you want to argue that injury changed him I'd be willing to listen. Idk man Warriors are pretty good but that's a different subject. |

Carr's mistakes were not forced. They were just him being bad. |
Quote:
Mods, take out the ****ing trash. |
I think Carr is going to fall apart under Gruden and I think it'll be more on Gruden than Carr. He's gotta be the worst coach to be a QB for.
|
Going back to last year the guy has a TD/INT ratio of 22/16.
Let’s continue to act like this is an overreaction to one game though. Anybody that can’t see what Carr is at this point is a ****ing moron. Straight up. |
It's pretty obvious billay didn't watch the game last night

Carr is one of those guys who generally sucks but maintains his position by having a good game once in a while. He isn't going to take a team anywhere in the NFL.
|
Quote:

He'll have a great post-football career selling Avon or Mary Kay, though.

But yeah, Gruden isn’t the best look for a struggling QB |
I'm about ready to admit I was wrong about Carr. (I really thought he was gonna win playoff games....alot of them)
I really thought he was gonna be good...maybe since I live here, I bought into the local homerism/hype I dunno... I'm still not ready to think he "sucks" yet.....I mean the raiders have a pretty crap team and played a great half of football.....against a very, very good team and they hung in there...much closer than that score would suggest.....they did have a collapse at the end, mainly by Carr..so...yeah I hate all things raider but for some reason I guess I just liked this guy. He seems nice and there is a non-raider quality about him that he is a genuinely cool guy.....truly this might sound corny but I dont think the chiefs win the superbowl without a VERY VERY tough afc west. So as much as I hate the raiders I find myself not really celebrating Carr being shitty. Having the raiders continue to suck is not good for our team, IMHO...... |

Oakland’s OL matches up well with the Rams, and he still struggled mightily. |

Gruden is back to his 4 yard crossing patterns.
When the chiefs play them, I bet you'll see a similar defense as last year's opener against New England, where Houston and company dropped back into those passing lanes and punished the hell out of the NE receivers on those cheap crossing (pick) routes. |
Quote:
And QB money is QB money. There’s a reason that us and the Bengals struggled to put enough talent around those two to actually win in the playoffs with them. |
If Carr has a clean pocket and doesnt hear footsteps he is phenomenal. The second he hears footsteps or his pocket starts getting crowded he gets happy feet, fear and pisses himself. If Gruden can`t fix him this year, Carr will be gone before next season. In fact Carr`s contract is front loaded so they wont even take much of a cap hit if Carr is gone next year.
