Went down to Bennett Springs this weekend. We never fished in the park, stayed out in the Niangua River the entire time. Friday was slow, cold front moved through, but caught 16 on Saturday and 13 more on Sunday before noon. All in all, a great time!

Need to get my reels re-strung. |
I hit up lower Taneycomo on Christmas day. I pulled in about 20 rainbows on some brown 1/8 jigs. Most of them were about 12 inchers, but I had one pretty fat 16 inch rainbow.

I find it easier to filet them with an electric knife for some reason. I'll take the whole mess and filet them leaving the rib cage in and then take a regular filet knife to take the ribs out.
With a regular filet knife I seem to screw up damn near as many as I get done properly. |

I can't wait for a new season of this show. Jeremy Wade is an extreme fisherman. |

Went to my favorite lake last night, it's not ready yet. Didn't get shit. When it warms up it will be rocking again though. |

http://www.berkley-fishing.com/produ...bait/powerbait If so, would you mind translating it for me? |

Berkley powerbait is a mixture of crack cocaine and methamphetamine to those freshly stocked trout. They love it. It has a play dough consistency. You make a little ball, put it on your hook and catch trout. |
Quote:
How do you fish with this stuff? Line and bobber? |
Huh. I just looked at the rules again and it states this: "Artificial fly and lure ONLY"
Does that mean I can't use the Powerbait? |
Quote:
http://www.berkley-fishing.com/produ.../trout-nuggets I should say that powerbait is best on stockers. So if it's a stocked lake or slow moving stream. They were raised on similar food, so they take it readily. Wild trout are not going to take it as readily. For wild trout in swift moving streams, you're going to want to use a casting bubble with flies or fish with spinners. You can also try live worms. |

It's right outside the house, so I think we'll probably get our feet wet there first. |

Donger, if it is a catch and release lake, there is NO WAY they are wanting you to use powerbait. Fish will swallow that and trout are fairly wimpy and will die. By artificial lures and flies, it usually means flies and then any other lure that isn't soft rubber or synthetic "dough" baits. Try casting a spoon called a little cleo. Blue and silver is a never miss color. Cast it out, reel it in. Very simple.

No bobber, the powerbait floats. Size 10 baitholder hook, then 8-12 inches up put some split shot (weight). |
I don't see any updates from R8ers. He must be having as much luck fishing as the Raiders are having with free agency.

You might try a bubble float as well, so you can actually fish with flies:

These are the rules for the catch and take lake: "Dry flies, lures, worms, power bait, fish eggs are to be used ONLY. No live minnows or fish are to be used as bait." And the catch and release lake: "Artificial fly and lure ONLY" |

Is fishing for trout easier/better in a boat than on-shore? They allow canoes and "belly boats" (which is apparently like a inner tube with a large condom attached to it), but no motors of any kind. |

Power Bait is always considered with bait.
In general, referring to trout at least, when they say flies or lures only they mean flies or hard bodied lures only (NO soft plastics). |
