This is just horrible news. I never met Jim but we had a ton of interaction via PM and Rep. He was such a nice guy (despite his online persona) and his passing has saddened me far more than I could have imagined.

Godspeed to your family, Mr. Titanman.

DanT 05-03-2009 12:12 AM

I remember Jim from back in the Star BB days, when he was jerey. I always felt a special kinship with him because of his long memory of the highs and lows of being a Chiefs fan, his interest in world affairs and the no-nonsense way that he took on and overcame the many challenges he faced in his life. Jim was a one of a kind presence on the board. I had always hoped to meet him in person. Even though I never did, I'm sure I'll never forget him. May he rest in peace.

So great to hear. A few years ago in this strange new world of online communities, I think a lot of us began feeling that it would always be a bunch of anonymous strangers, all interchangeable. I've learned that it just isn't the case. The interactions we have online are real, and it makes me smile to know that in Jim's final hours he received some comfort from his friends on ChiefsPlanet.

Goodbye, Jim.

CrazyPhuD 05-04-2009 03:45 AM

I ended up today looking back through the old star BB archives, could only find one post from him that was still in the archive, but thought I would share.

Very well done.

Wow. This caught me by surprise as I haven't frequented this board much lately in the past few months...

I never had the chance to meet Jim in person, but he came across as a very good, genuine person.

Godspeed, Jim. My deepest condolences to his family.

big nasty kcnut 05-05-2009 03:01 AM

I'm so sorry to hear this. I have always enjoyed his remarks and insights on this board and know what a great guy he was. Bless you and your family - every difficult moment has the potential to open your hearts. I hope your hearts are full of good memories of your dad.

Thats scary man, way too young.

It's all going to work out.

Well, maybe not for them...

I was 21 when my mom passed. She was also 43. The cause wasn't the same. My father passed 16 months later at the age of 49. I'm on track for 46.

From what I knew of Logical, I think he would welcome humor in this thread.

In fact, he's probably annoyed that no one has asked for his casino cash. ;)

One of the first pos. reps. I ever received from him was when I made fun of one of his OP. Good dude.

It's been a week now, so I'm going to go ahead and unstick this thread. Feel free to bump it every once in a while if you'd like, or eventually someone will probably start a "Logical" thread in the new history forum.

Frankie 05-07-2009 08:53 AM

If I'm not mistaken Jim was a Lakers fan. I hope he got to watch the game from upstairs last night.

I'm not certain it's appropriate based on your vision of the "History Forum", Mr. DaFace, but it might be a fair idea to move this thread over there?

Hmm...an interesting idea Mr. FAX. My worry with that is that I'd prefer to remember Jim as he was rather than for his passing. I'd think a thread discussing his contributions to the Planet would fit that role more appropriately. However, I'm certainly open to dissenting opinions.

Not at all. My own dad died nearly a year ago, too....after a brief and merciful battle with cancer. Whenever I think of my own dad, I also think of Jim. As 'odd' as that may seem to some....Jim, regardless of our disagreements, was a good man.

CP is not the same place it used to be; for both good and bad reasons. Jim is one of the things the "new" planet is missing. RIP, Jim.

Not everybody knew it but he basically paid for the place for several years out of his own pocket. His single annual donation vastly outweighed the combined donations of all others. I've been out of the picture for several years now but yeah, he meant a lot to this place both on the front end and the back end. Hopefully Kyle has found another well-off member to pick up the monetary slack for Jim.

How much does it cost to run this site? I'd say every member donate this year to honor Jim.

Jim wasn't nearly as logical as he tried to portray himself to be, but he had a unique ability to remain almost dispassionate while he was beating you down if you displayed what he viewed as dumbassery.

When he changed his name to Vlad Logicslav (after changing his politics from conservative to liberal), I started calling him Vlib Logiclost. He seemed to get a kick out of it.

Jim is now trolling Lamar, Hank and DT 24/7.

Mi_chief_fan 12-17-2010 01:57 PM

I joined this forum right around the time Jim did. We had alot of disagreements over the years, sometimes he got on my nerves (especially his love for Jeremy Shockey).

But I respected him, we got along most of the time, and this is truly a sad day. I'm sorry for the family. My thoughts are with the family.

Donger 12-17-2010 02:21 PM

I liked Jim, although he could never tell when I was being facetious or not.
