I like looking at houses on realtor.com, and I must admit to being intrigued by the impossibly low housing prices in places like Wichita and Hutchinson. That would be an easy way to free up home equity and put it into income-producing investments in retirement. But I have no idea what it's like to live in Wichita or Hutchinson, and I fear that there might be humidity.

Seriously, though, look at this. It needs some updates, but I could live in a house like this, and it's for sale for $49 per square foot. Prices in my neighborhood in Denver are $400 to $500 per square foot.

Lots of curb appeal in the picture. Built in 1930. In Hutch the little Amish town of Yoder would be real close and handy.:D
Hutch isn't far from Wichita. You might not enjoy the wind though.

Prairie Dunes golf course used to always be rated in the top 20 nationwide, not sure if it is true anymore. Played it a few times.

$400 to $500 per sq ft is crazy.

I'm in Hutch & a member at PD. We're a quick 40 minutes to Wichita. It's a great town to raise a family and being so close to Wichita means we can drive over to do our shopping without having to live in Wichita. Which, is the downfall of Hutch. There just isn't a lot here.

We've basically been within 3,000 people of 40,000 total since like the 60's. I think there is a law that says when someone moves to Hutch, somebody else has to move out or die.

PD is ranked anywhere from #12 - #16 in the country and top 50ish in the world. It's a great course.

That is great, glad you shared this. :thumb:

Yeah, PD is absolutely a beautiful and challenging course. First time I played it was about my 3rd year playing golf and I finally said **** and quit keeping score. Last time we played it I played pretty well.

You would know Rose Motor Supply? That place was amazing back the 80s, they had everything, at least two of them. I used to sell them a few lines of auto parts and truly enjoyed calling on "Babe Rose" who probably passed away a long time ago.
