Here’s my question, who could we take at #31 that would be a day 1 starter?
We’re set at OT for now, DE’s never seem to play year 1 in KC, we have Kelce at TE, maybe IDL but I question how big of an impact they would really bring in year one, a WR would get playing time but we’ve taken 2 with early picks recently, a RB could for sure but there’s not really a great fit in this draft for us at #31… I think a S (Starks or Emanwari) or CB (Barron or Amos) are best bets to see the field immediately or an OG (Booker, Jackson, or Ratledge). We’re a SB quality team, I’d like to see us get a day 1 impact player in the first to help us win another. |
It's definitely FS or RB if you're looking for a "starter", but you can still draft a DE or DT that can give you that kind of impact even if they aren't technically starters.

I also think, with the Fulton signing, a CB you draft is going to be AT BEST CB4 on this roster. Maybe a rookie G could win the LG job to start the year, but there are internal candidates with more experience and - arguably - just as much upside there. I DO believe that a WR in Egbuka or Burden, or a DT in Nolen or Harmon, or some of the other DE/DL types can be players who get significant year 1 snap counts and are contributors, if not starters. You probably could find a WLB (if it's Jihaad Campbell) to displace Tranquill. Probably. But this isn't a team with a glaring HOLE that HAS to be filled in Round 1 at this point. And that's what you want, because when you aren't tied to trying to find a starter at a specific spot, you really can go BPA. And that's nice. |
The FS is was talking about is Starks. If his combine pushes him down to 31, he's probably better than Cook day 1.

I sure hope that we do not draft an RB or an S in the first round with the needs along the trenches.

I think I'm going to bump T.J. Sanders, DT, South Carolina into my top 10 and drop out TreVeyon Henderson, RB, Ohio State. I'd slide him in between Conerly and Tuimoloau.

Nic Scourton-78 pressures and 12 sacks last 2 years
Landon Jackson-66 pressures and 14 sacks last 2 years Scourton had the luxury of having Shemar Stewart and Shemar Turner last year while Landon Jackson was basically the only guy offended worried about. Scourton had 10 sacks at Purdue in a similar situation though. I like Scourton more but I do really like Landon Jackson. It’s an interesting comparison |

Has Kenneth Grant risen out of our reach? I'm interested in him. I'm also interested in Trey Amos and Benjamin Morrison at cornerback.

Who’s the most out of left field, black swan, unexpected 1st round pick you think we could take?
Mine would be RB Henderson. Jeanty goes in the top 12 to LV, CHI, or DAL, and Hampton to one the those or DEN… leaving Henderson as the potential next up RB on the board. |
