That’s something we should have been thinking about a few years ago. As it stands right now, we’re likely stuck between either paying a lot to just hold the fort for one more year, taking a big risk with unproven young guys, or either settling or overpaying for some veterans.

If an extra year of pain buys us time to find 2 (hopefully 3) long term cheap quality options it at least makes a little sense

But just think of ALL the cap room you'll be creating in 2026! ;)

Kingsley Suamataia

Probably too early to say with Kingsley, but I see one bad pick among the rest (Skyy Moore). The rest were at least competent NFL players who contributed.

That’s a pretty good batting average in the second round.

It's great. Obviously Hardman/Moore were picked instead of better WRs, but it worked out anyway. This team lost one playoff game since drafting Skyy Moore, even though the WR room could have been far better.

well he'll either play again for us or we'll get a draft pick probably

win/win IMO

Or they won't reach a long-term deal and his $23M cap hit will be used as the reason they can't be active in free agency.

Tagging him makes no sense unless a deal is close.

My gut is telling me "wtf????"

But its also Veach, so ill likely eat my words by the time training camp starts.

Tagging seemed like the option that wasn’t on the table.

Anyone who brought it up here got shut down pretty quick.

I think you’re right. They either 1) have a trade partner or 2) have a deal and didn’t want him to get cold feet.

If FAU and Wiley become contributors, things look a lot better

Anyone want to throw out hypothetical trade scenarios? Potential trade partners and potential trade value?

Cowboys need a guard with Zack Martin hanging it up and there has been article that Cowboys might not want to tie up so much money in a record breaking contract for Micah Parsons.

Chiefs get:
Micah Parsons

Dallas gets:
Smith
FAU
#31
2026 1st rounder

Sure, but absolutely nothing I've seen from either guy makes me believe that's likely. Here's to hoping though, because we REALLY need a couple of those guys to stop being useless fodder on the roster.

We’re about to find out on Veach here real quick now that the Dorsey core of Mahomes/Kelce/Jones/Hunt/Hill are mostly all gone or are starting to age out of being elite players.

Only Mahomes figures to continue to be here and be elite for more than 2-3 more years.

John Dorsey drafted us 4 Hall of Famers in a 5 year stretch. Absolute insanity.

I play it up as a shtick sometimes for sure, but the man seriously deserves a lot more credit for our run than he gets on here.

I mean which contending team needs a guard as their final piece and can throw that kind of money around? Conversely, which rebuilding team should blow that kind of money on a position that isn't necessary for rebuilding?

It did seem like the Chargers were a team that could make it work. They're the opposite of us in that they need interior OL help.

Good point. Even though 23 and 24 aren’t shaping us as great draft classes, Veach has a pretty solid draft record overall. I remember Carl was awful in the second round
