Don't put it past some of these teams to do it. Many of them have dog shit rosters and can definitely afford to poke the bear. Nick Bolton and Justin Reid would be very useful for a number of teams, even if they have to pay $5M more per year than they wanna. |

If a team offers Nick Bolton $18 million APY or more then you call him up, thank him for his time here and tell him to go with God

There's really no justification for bringing back Trey Smith. |

The only LB's that are getting 18 AAV are the guys who incredibly athletic, Bolton isn't that guy.
Sometimes I think people kind of forget how good some of those top end paid LB's are, Fred Warner is like if you look Willie Gay and Nick Bolton and combined all their best traits into 1 dude. |
I mean I don't want any part of paying $18m either but let's not act like it isn't common practice for new player salaries to pass old player salaries
Brock Purdy is going to get a bigger deal than Mahomes has, doesn't make him better or lead anyone to believe the 49ers feel that way either. You could certainly call it bad business however and that's why I don't expect Veach to do it. He hasn't made a habit of overpaying players yet and I don't expect it to start now... |

Hate to tell you guys this but I think there’s a strong possibility that Bolton, Trey, Reid and Omenihu all get massively overpaid for what we would want to give them.
I could see Veach utilizing this for the comp pick formula and getting a lot of smaller deals to balance it out and getting two extra 3rd rd picks in 2026. |

If they lose Bolton and Reid everyone is gonna lose their shit about how much the defense sucks, book it. |

I’d say the most likely outcome is we keep Hollywood and overpay Bolton. Wouldn’t be surprised if we lost Bolton though. Lot of teams could easily pay him $18 million without blinking, like the Patriots.
Could see Vrabel wanting him that bad |
