Well yeah, but even a bad dumb team knows jettisoning a revenue generator typically doesn't work out.

I have to say, looking around I don’t see a lot of realistic options that fit the bill. I think if we make a big move, it’ll be defense.

You never know though, maybe Reid thinks he can somewhat replicate what the Pats do defensively, in terms of making it look much better than the talent on paper, with this All-Star defensive staff.

Surely not

Trade Houston for Brown, trade a 2nd & 3rd for Ramsey, take the top S & OLB with your first two picks...then fill in a TE and RB in the later rounds.

Sit back and watch the $$$ come in.

Big name Offensive player? OBJ comes to mind.

Yep, this is what I was thinking too.

He is a headcase, but a huge weapon.

He'll cost more in a trade than Antonio Brown because he's younger.

My dudes, stop being afraid of greatness. You can address the defense while still adding yet another play maker for the reigning league MVP.

Bump 03-01-2019 03:40 PM

He'd fit the offense well, good pass catcher which is great. But after sitting out a full year that concerns me too much and it's a RB and we need defense.

staylor26 03-01-2019 03:41 PM

I do agree though, if we’re talking stars, Odell is the only one that makes sense.

I really think any trade we'd make would be for a short term rental of a top offensive player at the end of a contract.

I don't see the team blowing up the cap knowing they are going to have to fork over a ton of dollars to Mahomes starting next season.

If we do make this kind of trade I'd assume it means we are only planning on locking up one of Jones and Hill this off-season and will have to negotiate with the other next off-season.

suzzer99 03-01-2019 03:44 PM

I'm starting to think that you never want a non-QB on what they know is their last NFL contract. Between CTE fear and everything else I think they rarely play as hard as they could. Bell knows this would be his last contract - so pass.

Nope. He'd cost more in a trade and the Giants already said they're not trading.

Antonio Brown. He can probably be had for less than people think because the Steeler's are desperate to trade him. And he's drama.

He fits the bill perfectly. Andy Reid the player's coach will get him to settle down for two seasons. After that the Chiefs can cut bait on his ass.

DJ has a good point about this in the other thread.

Been sayin' this for a month.

The defensive talent is better than it's production. A nice infusion will help it get to slightly above average but it doesn't need every thin red dime of draft/cap capital this offseason.

If the most talented player on our board is an offensive player at any point in the draft or at EVERY point in the draft, take the offensive player.

Unless you have a 23 year old MVP quarterback, within 3 seasons EVERY position on an NFL team is going to be one of need. And with rookie contracts running 4-5 years AND with the necessary learning curve, any great player you acquire at any position will be a player you need before that rookie contract ends.

I'm very glad to hear this.

ToxSocks 03-01-2019 03:47 PM

I can already hear Veach's voice, "When you have an opportunity to add a talent like Antonio Brown to your roster, you take it..."

ntexascardfan 03-01-2019 03:48 PM

Crazy question...but if we got a guy like AB would we cut Sammy post june 1?

We'd save ~4 million against the cap this season and over 12 next year...

I said that before DJ in that thread, but that's cool.
