The only issue I have is the way the local forecasters always spell out a doomsday scenario. Their being wrong about such things has impacts in a lot of other ways. I mean it was just after the KU game last night that miss Katie was on the TV talking about the ass-kicking we were going to get from all the snow in KC.

This.

It's all about facetime and money anymore. "We save lives. Our job is serious business." Whatever.

Well I happen to remember enough times when the weather f**kers have screwed up predicting a snow storm I never take it as fact. WHen I was in schoold I remember several times they would predict Armegeddon by snow storm and it NEVER happened! I'd be all psyched thinking no school tomorrow!! PBJ I'd have the four wheelers ready to go and it was gonna be a party!! Then I'd wake up at like five and look outside and nothing. At twelve years old that was the worst. It always seems to happen when they predict something like this. When you give them three or four days to talk about it not a damn thing happens. To the weather f**kers credit the only thing that is keeping this from being a big snow storm is a thin layer of warm air aloft. The snow is passing through that on the way down, turning into rain and either freezing in the air to sleet or freezing rain on the ground (that is how it can rain when it is 23 degrees out). If that bit of warm air is gone it will be all snow. The thing that makes the weather f**kers look dumb is it's not even raining here.

From now on I think they should have to run a disclaimer on the screen saying something to the effect of "this could happen and this could be a bunch of bullshit because we're just really not sure." Instead they spew it as fact like they're Nostraf**kingdamus. That makes them flat out wrong.....at least give yourselves a lifeline we you f**k up yet again :shake:.

Weather forcasters are all the same. They usually give a worst-case scenario. When the temps are close to freezing, its tough to predict. Alot of it depends on temps in the atmosphere.

Its snowing in beautiful Independence Mo.

Yeah, there were some cars already on the ditch on I-435 from the Legends to Olathe, when I was driving back to my apartment.

I faced my fears today, and that is driving out there with Johnson Countians people, and I conquered them. When it comes to winter weather, you never know WTF is going on out there with those people.

StcChief 03-28-2009 09:37 PM

cold heavy wet rain..... temp going down. hope for snow not ice.

The majority of growing up, I lived on a dirt road. I learned to drive in all forms of weather growing up in central Kansas. But I was never prepared for the level of idiocy I found once moving to KC and seeing ice/snow on the roads. I swear some people are actually less patient when the roads are terrible. You have to drive so defensively because so few people respect the driving conditions. I'm glad I didn't have to go anywhere this evening...

Tell me about it. I also grew up in Central KS as well, and lived on a dirt road. Lived to drive through a flooded terrain. Drove through a packed in dirt road. Hell, I once even drove on a sand road, and those are rare these days.

I try not to go anywhere at all, if possible, on this type of a shitty weather, but the painting job at the new home isn't gonna get it done by itself, so eventually, I needed to get up there and get some of the work done. But yes, for some odd reason, they think driving 70 mph on the interstate with their 4x4's on, will make them safe. Uh, no. Sorry.

Epic fail.
